Perfect for Small Business

We upgraded our lobby with a large TV, replacing an old bulletin board, with Yodeck and a Firestick. This new setup allows us to enhance patient education, keep visitors informed about upcoming events, and highlight the services we offer. I make our graphics in Canva and it's basically a slideshow. At some point, we may upgrade to an actual Yodeck player for the memory.

Pros

Yodeck is a great option for small businesses that have little to no budget for digital signage and already have graphics made. I haven't used the customer service on the website but have found past comments from their reddit account useful.

Cons

Setting up my screen has not been without trial and error. The available apps are customizable to point (limited to fonts and colors). I have had issues adding audio to my layouts and changing the transitions between images. I have a free account, so these are minor to me.

Cost: Yodeck is free to use, even the tiered plans, for one screen. And paying for any kind of sub was not in the budget. Google Slides: I create our graphics in Canva and when I uploaded them to Google Slides, the fonts would change. As we use custom fonts, that was a no go. Also, could not add music.

Choose Yodeck. You won't be disappointed.

There are SO MANY options for players and programs and it was hard to just choose at first. I'm glad I chose Yodeck

Pros

It truly is very easy to learn. I've worked with a few different programs and players and Yodeck was the easiest to learn.

Cons

There are a limited number of templates in the layouts section, which isn't a huge drawback, but it is what I like least about Yodeck.

All in one for relaying information

Very positive. We liked it so much at my work that we created an account and will use Yodeck to show relay information to a few hundred thousand people at a festival that I work with.

Pros

Ease of use and customization. The ability to showcase many different forms of media to create a great and eyepopping presentation.

Cons

Wish there was a way to add text to the countdown and not when the countdown is finished but the whole time to describe what the countdown is.

Great for Small Businesses.

Overall, YoDeck has been an incredibly easy service to use, especially for a small organization like us. We've truly enjoyed it's benefits.

Pros

The best thing about Yodeck is the ease of uploading and deploying signage to our screens.

Cons

On occasion, we have had issues with quality of images deployed to signage.

Yodeck: One Screen, Big Difference for School District

Yodeck has been an immediate asset to our front office in the school district where I work. For the longest time, we had to set up a static PowerPoint presentation that looked drab and didn't pull in anything current. Overall, people overlooked it. Now, I have Yodeck running on our lobby screen, and people are stopping and staring. Those who are waiting for meetings, interviews, etc., are getting to see our school district in action with up-to-date social media posts, images, and so much more. It adds to the overall brand presence, and I think it makes a difference in how people feel when they first walk in. We are big fans of Yodeck here!

Pros

The ease of including social media timelines and the templates.

Cons

The only issue I had was connecting Yodeck with Canva - but I would not hold that against the company, it is more than likely user error.

Yodeck is Yotally Awesome!

Love it, the fact that I can so PowerBI screens on our internal displays is gold! Its quick and light. I used to use a competitor system and they discontinued the display device we paid $800 for, then provided a new device for $1000 and it was downgraded to only play 1080P unless we wanted to pay $$$ per month for 4k.

Pros

I love the GUI that makes everything so easy to use and update. The site is responsive and the controls are logical. Once you understand the apps/media/playlist connection, you're off to the races.

Cons

connecting to some of the 3rd party apps, but I dont think its Yodeck's fault I believe its our corporate sercurity.

Top tier system

Pros

The documentation, layout of the system and ease of integration makes the system really practical in a busy environment where there are lots of systems to manage. I have implemented Yodeck at both schools i have worked in, and from when I first started using it, I have consistently seen updates to the UI and features.

Cons

I think there needs to be better diversity in Widgets. I think they hold huge potential to really standing out the system from the rest. For example, we are a Microsoft school so would benefit greatly from those features. Other custom API widgets would also be amazing so we really can personalise it.
The layout system can be improved with integration with widgets too. For Example, the weather widget is hard to fit correctly in the top right hand corners as the grid limitations of the widget is greater than the size of the widget, so it makes it difficult to be precise with positioning.

Pretty good Digital Signage Solution

Managing 9 Channels full of different contents in different locations, prior we had a Powerpoint Presentation on every device.
Preparing for Events and sheduling Playlists is pretty awesome

Pros

Lots of Plugins and Apps - and lots of Updates. Very lightweight, works on any Raspberry Pi 3 and newer, so very power efficient. Unlimited Upload Space, 4K Option

Cons

A few things: you need to pay for another channel if you want to show the same Content on another TV, so you need to get some network or HDMI Splitter between those two. Transitions between layouts - are hopefully in the working.

Usng Yodeck Digital Signage to support small businesses.

Overall Yodeck provides a solid platform for most all digital signage applications. Easy to integrate customer for content updates, which they love, with minimal training.

Very Easy to Use and Great Support

I tried a few different signage vendors and picked YoDeck for its ease of use and price. Very easy to set up. Was up and running with pictures on the screen in under an hour.

Pros

Very easy to set up from scratch. Our trial time was on a self-purchased Raspberry Pi. YoDeck's instructions for setting up a self-purchased player were easy to follow and I was up and running in 15 minutes. Since all media is pushed to players, rather than streaming, the WiFi bandwidth is kept to a minimum. The site itself is easy to navigate and mostly figure out without help. I contacted support on the couple items for which I had questions. They were either able to respond via chat or got back to me within a few hours via email. I really like the media handling of their site. Adding start and expiration dates makes it easier than checking daily to get rid of expired material. Layouts work great as we have our logo, the current date and time as well as a ticker and another entire playlist in a shrunken box on the screen at the same time.

Cons

No real downsides or dislikes, but there are a couple things that could use improvement. One of them is I wish they would allow you to turn off audio on a video-by-video basis. The only audio controls they offer is the ability to set the TV volume to a certain level on a schedule. I don't need this. I want to be able to have a checkbox that enables or disables audio - or better yet - an audio playback level on a video-by-video basis.

Easy to use. Lots of Funtionality and Integrations.

We have been very happy using yodeck. it suits our needs and is constantly getting new features that have made it only better over time. I recommend it to anyone who asks me about digital signage.

Lots of functionality and Integration. I have been using Yodeck for several years now and have found it to be cleanly set up and intuitive. They also keep brining updtaes to the sytem which is great to have. Some of my favorite features are the apps.

Cons

When there is an error uploading new content to the screen it doesnt explain what went wrong it just says it didnt work. i then need to try to figure it out with trila and error. i wish it would be clearer what the issue was. It happens rarley though.

Yodeck IS the answer for K12 schools looking to use digital signage

Excellent product, excellent customer service and value for the powerful solution that Yodeck provides.

Pros

Yodeck is simple to setup, inexpensive and easy to manage. There isn't much of a learning curve with the Yodeck user interface and purchasing the players (we upgraded from the free players to the 4gb version for a nominal charge) from Yodeck is a plus and a must if you don't want to fool with setup. When I got my players, all I had to do was plug them into the screens, power them on and register them. Yodeck added our wifi settings and named the devices so that was great and meant a few less steps for me. Getting the content setup and figuring out scheduling, layouts, etc. was a breeze using the Yodeck tutorial videos. And when I did run into an issue, their online chat support was there to walk me through the solution quickly. There's really no negatives with Yodeck!

Cons

It took me a few trys to get the scheduling to work the way I needed it to. I just didn't understand exactly how it worked. But after a few tries and watching the tutorial, I got it to work and now it's working seamlessly for us.

Saving us thousands this year!

Pros

the setup of the players was super easy. A rep from Yodeck called me even before I got the players and then helped get to me even faster. But what is best is how easy the software is to use. The last provider we had was with MoodMedia and the interface was built of these frames that if you accidentally moved something, the whole screen changed and you had to figure out where your stuff went.

Cons

so far, nothing. We've only been using it a few weeks.

I think I chose the right product, it was MoodMedia, Harmony was the control suite. Cost, downtime and poor user interface. The MoodMedia software was just silly and overly complex for the basic need we have of essentially running a slideshow.

Yodeck! The next best thing in Digital Signage!!

LOVE IT! I have been from SignageLive, to Optisign and now Yodeck....I am definitely going to be buying a subscription for my multiple stores!

Pros

Yodeck in a Retirement Community

Overall, once learning the system, I've enjoyed working with it. I like a very colorful and detailed display due to it being in a Retirement Community, where many seniors have vision issues. I enjoy being able to create event/activity specific slides and playlists that change automatically (scheduled) each week. Also, residents really enjoy having music playing in the lobbies - when I am able to find an option for streaming audio.

Pros

I like being able to create individual slides for upcoming events (versus a listing of events that can cause confusion with seniors). I also create weekly playlists, and am able to schedule them to change each Friday evening to reflect the upcoming week. This allows me to take one full day near the end of each month to create the next month's slides, events, playlists, etc and then I'm done. I don't have to be "hands on" more than once a month unless I choose to. Also, in cases when an event/activity needs to be rescheduled or cancelled, it is easy to change the slide to reflect this. Our lobbies are also more interesting and attractive with the announcement screens and playlists.

Cons

I can create a slide with specific text fields, "lock" them, and then add another field and the font will change. Or when I open a slide, sometimes the fonts in text fields have changed in such a way that the text does not fit the view any longer (ie: changed to a larger font). I'm not sure why this happens, but it does.Underlaying audio into layouts is difficult because the options are very limited without paying for a streaming service. It would be MUCH better if playing a streaming radio station (ie: K-love, etc) were an option.

Absolutely Love it!

Wonderful! I use Yodeck as a Digital Signage software. I operate as front facing, highly specialized IT Help Desk position within a specific area of my work campus, so it is important to keep in touch with all of my users, so that they know where I'm at, and what I'm doing. IF/when I'm on vacation, out sick, doctor appointment, or what have you, I make sure my digital sign is updated to show where I'm at, and whom they can contact in my absence. So far, I've been using it for about 6+ months, and I absolutely love it! I can even update it from wherever I am (Vacation, home, halfway across the universe because I accidentally fell into a wormhole, etc.)! Yodeck is EXACTLY what I was looking for, and with the 1 free screen, it's exactly what I NEEDED for my work area. Before Yodeck, I was using a Powerpoint Presentation, and just navigating through what I wanted displayed at any given time. It was a hassle, and someone had to be there to operate it when it needed to be changed.

Pros

Very quick and easy to set up, even if using your own computer for the digital signage. It's simple and easy to change what you want displayed on your screen, as well as setting up playlists and schedules to keep it changing how you want/when you want. I absolutely LOVE the 1 free screen option that lets you try it out free of cost (with limited features) for one screen. If I ever need more screens, you can bet I'm going to be using Yodeck for those!

Cons

The Schedule feature should be more flexible by giving you more power over controlling what displays, when. Currently, I have to add multiples of the same type of Layout throughout a month (or range of months) just to cover/display what I want, especially after a few day "break" in displaying. So far, it's still very good and easy to use, but it could be better.

Yodeck digital noticeboard management software

Yodeck has enabled us to further the usefulness of our existing digital noticeboards by utilising their extensive range of widgets. The screens are now true information points displaying a variety of media.

Pros

At our community centre we have been using a basic photo slideshow app to convert smart tvs into digital noticeboards. It worked but was very basic - limited to displaying jpgs that we needed to manually rotate to display on a portrait orientated screen.Yodeck has been a big step up as far as possibilities for our screens. We now have the option to display a whats on calendar, video, livestream, weather and more.I particularly like the clean, uncluttered and intuitive dashboard which manages the screens. Yodeck has excellent video and livestream support that was lacking from some of the other digital noticeboard apps we tested. Technical support has also been particularly good. Highly recommended.

Cons

Lack of a compatible Android app for smart TVs. An android app would've have simplified the upgrade for us since we use Android compatible smart TVs, but the Yodeck player has been an acceptable alternative to an app.

Manufacturing Use

Pros

I am a safety engineer and it is very simple to work with for me. I can update the screens in various locations throughout our shop and have no problems. The set up was super easy and the websites that can be copy and pasted for web use works very well. This way I am able to put up safety videos over subjects we have problems with. I love that you can add powerpoint as well and it will set up the times to scroll through all of it. In some scenarios with past digital signage companies I had to paste slide for slide so this saves me a ton of time. Yodeck provides free players with subscriptions to services which makes it very convenient should you have to present for approval to corporate. All in all this is a great platform and I enjoy using it.

Cons

There is nothing I can think of besides maybe having a day counter option. I would like to put a clock up that counts the amount of days without an accident to display on the screens in the shop and I can't find anything like that on the widgets besides countdowns.

At the age of 70 my age and IQ I was able to create a system that improves so many people's lives with a easy learning curve for free and still have the energy engagement page displayed.

I have a blog for the Blair House a seniors residence in Ottawa Ontario Canada and this Yodeck software has given me the ability to display in real time The bus schedule for our bus stops ( 4 in total ), plus the weather, Emergency warnings system, Our Community Events Calendar, Covid 19 status all edited from my home pc or cell phone.
In Canada we are a bilingual country English and French so all the webpages have to be repeated in both languages. easy as can be.
The building is an Ottawa Community Housing building with an energy engagement program that consists of a monitor in the lobby that informs tenants of how much energy is being used ( electricity and gas) and compares it with other similar buildings .
Now the information is of some value to the tenants as they do not have to wait outside in the rain or cold to catch a bus.
I was somewhat concerned about the new Raspberry Pi 4 that replaced the Pi 3 as to how much work it would be to upgrade it involved 8 letters and a hyphen WOW works fine!
This is by far one of the best Raspberry projects that I have come across thumbs up.

Cons

In the Ottawa Community Housing building we have a large percentage of people that do not speak either of Our official languages and it would be nice to incorporate Google Translate into this platform.
I would like to see a camera on the raspberry Pi that could scan a QR code that when displayed would translate to the appropriate language.
It is very important to try to create a hands free environment in this time of Covid.
