Extremely satisfied with the app; it's user interface and speed of processing. Great Functional...

Pros

I like how data is transcribed and rapidly updated in the app. I enjoy how I can one-click the addition of a scan business card directly into my address book. I like how I can export reciepts to make it faster to complete expense reports. i like the human touch of the support staff.

Cons

Within the app I scan a card or reciept to process, then it also shows up (for me) in my Photos on my phone, notebook, cloud account. Once I've confirmed I have the info captured, I know have to go into my photos app and delete those pics.

Amazing customer service by CRM

I'm a freelance illustrator (self-employed/small business) and way behind on taxes (have been delaying b/c of my lack of organization). I have years and years of receipts saved up in shoeboxes/chest of drawers that I have to pile through. I spent a few hours researching the best app to use to do this. After downloading a lot of software, I finally settled on SHOEBOXED. I'm going to slowly pile through my receipt (snapping photos of them) and find my write offs. The images are organized by the company and are searchable (in case you ever get audited). You can even just mail them your receipts (that doesn't work for me as well b/c I have to find my write offs). But going forward I'll probably use that service as well. None of these reasons are why I'm actually leaving this review (see Pros below).

Pros

Having just downloaded the app on my phone I still had some questions about the functionality of the app and its service (are the receipts searchable...how so? ...how are they organized?). I decided to call...low and behold someone answered. I can't tell you how helpful CRM was on the phone. He spoke clearly and answered my random (and very specific) questions concisely. He helped me find which package was best for me and my situation (thousands of receipts piled up for years) ...without hard selling me on anything. I hadn't even signed up for the service officially yet and he sent a quick follow-up email. It was a very calming experience in the stressful situation that is my tax headache. If any higher ups are reading this... I'd recommend giving CRM a big fat raise, but don't promote him to your department ...unless you want to be working for him soon. I'm seriously impressed that I could download a very functional/helpful phone app and a few minutes later be able to call and talk to an actual service representative with no hold, no dial tone button pressing, who was completely knowledgeable about the product he was supporting. My entire field is full of self-employed workers and I'll be recommending this product to every single one because of the experience I had with the app and the customer service.

Cons

The only way to sign in to leave this review was through LinkedIn...a site I haven't used in 8 years (and was attached to old email accounts/password) and frankly...annoyed me with all their updates/emails. BUT, the customer service experience was so good...I'll eat the next 8 years of annoying Linkin update emails...hopefully they don't get hacked again (didn't that happen like 5 years ago).

great software and service for staying organized and saving time

Overall, I find Shoeboxed to be incredibly useful and it allows me to get a handle on my receipts. There is room to make the software/service even better, and I hope the company decides to further invest in the features and capabilities. But even as is, it is a good service.

Pros

Shoeboxed makes it very quick and easy to scan and organize receipts. Using my receipt scanner, I can scan a receipt and have it uploaded to the cloud in seconds, and then Shoeboxed takes it from there using OCR/human inspection to extract fields. Receipts are archived and accessible on the Internet, and can be searched and exported.

Cons

I've been using Shoeboxed for many years, and the software has not changed much in that time. The interface is out of date and kind of clunky. It responds slowly and it is quite limited in it's query capabilities. The company has not added any new features, even though there are many obvious and very useful ones that I wish could be added.
The company has also raised prices quite a bit, so it is not nearly as good of a value as it used to be. I'd accept this more gracefully if they were also adding useful features along the way, but that has not happened.

I am Europe based and I was a subscriber for a year. I used it for my small e-commerce...

Simple management of invoices, receipts, all in one place and accessible from everywhere.

Pros

I like the idea of having all my invoices, payments, receipts, etc, stored in one safe place, accessible from everywhere. Shoeboxed does a good service and their app for Android works well. So on the go, you scan the receipt and that's it. No running around with papers in your pockets after a meeting with suppliers in a restaurant.

Cons

The magic envelope service at that time was not available in Europe. This is why I switched to the free version. Also as a European, I found it a hassle that there is no option available to change the settings to European formats such as for dates (in Europe you write dd/mm/yyyy, whereas in the US it is the other way around) and commas / dots to distinguish between thousands and fractions, etc. I also found that sometimes the Amazon webservices are slow and thus the loading of your files takes time. But recently this has improved. The preview pane is also too small and does not adapt to the screen size. Their UX could be uncluttered and simplified.

Does a lot for small business owners

Saves me a lot of time and helps me stay organized.

Pros

I like the ease of submitting my receipts--from forwarding an email to scanning a receipt it makes things so easy. I also like having easy access to business cards without having to sift through or carry a bunch of them. I use the mileage feature the most and really like it when it's accurate.

Cons

The mileage is not always accurate (my 20 mile ride is sometimes registered as .01 miles) and the app doesn't allow you to correct it (I can correct the equivalent, but my accountant wants actual mileage so it doesn't really help). This happens on average about once a week.

A positive experience! With a few exceptions described below, this is top-notch!

Pros

-Has saved me so much money by upping my deductions tens of thousands of dollars!!! Also, I never used to track mileage. This has made it so easy except when I forget to drop a pin!

Cons

I have called on all of these suggestions:
1. When emailing in a receipt, allow one to add a category and note so you don't have to log on and do it later.
2. Have GPS track all of your trip so you don't have to remember to drop a pin. If you forget, which I am sure people do a lot, you get 0 miles.
3. Sometimes the GPS drops and you lose all data for the trip.
4. Allow one to add a new category on the app from your phone.

Pros

Shoeboxed is user friendly, quick and easy to post receipts and having the program/company enter the information is the way to go!!

Cons

The price is a little steep every month for a small business owner but overall it's a huge time saver.

No Fuss OCR Expense Record

Wonderful, nothing to complain .

Pros

It's easy, with no fuss. Only need to review all the records before tax filing. The data can also be exported and archived in another location.

Cons

There are still small recognition errors. software may be optimised for US receipts, and not localised to the country. This localisation can be done via phone GPS, and thereafter, software adaptation after prolong pattern is seen.

Love it.

Pros

The Convenience. I love that it auto-tracks my drives each day. Also love how well organized the actual software side is.

Cons

The price :( It seemed fair until they upped the pricing. I was really bummed to see the price tag go up. It definitely seems high.

Removes clutter and keeps track of expenses, accessible from anywhere

Clutter reduction, expense management

Pros

I like that this is a cloud based system. Also that it accepts electronic receipts with a simple forward from my email. overall, very good value for the cost and reduces clutter massively.

Cons

Some manual processing is required to approve and resolve expenses so an eventual AI based system would be great.

Love it, has saved my sanity

Makes filing my taxes so much easier. Because someone else is scanning in my reicepts and I can set rules to auto assign the reciept to a catagory I have to only spend about 5-10 minutes a day on reciepts where I used to spend a solid week at the end of the year dealing with reciepts and I would dread it every year. Now come tax time I am usually caught up with all the reciepts and it goes so much faster. Shoeboxed has very accurate data entry and I rarely have to make corrections. I just enter my own "notes" on each reciept, double check it for accuracy and file it - so convenient. I couldn't reccomend it enough.

Pros

Shoeboxed makes my life so much simpler. As a self employed person scanning in my own reciepts was the one thing I dreaded every year. I tried other software and it all had major issues. When I found Shoeboxed it has literally saved my sanity every year come tax time.

Cons

There are few features I wish it had like archiving previous years receipts so that I didn't have to chance the search parameters every time I was working within a current tax year, or having roll over pages becasue sometimes I miss sending reciepts in one month and I paid for that month but didn't use it, but overall, I only have good things to say.

Shoeboxed is life changing

Shoeboxed saved me from drowning in paper receipts and has made preparing my taxes sooo much easier and much more efficient and my record keeping is now more accurate.

Pros

shoeboxed is a simple and effective way to organize receipts. Setting up custom categories is a breeze.

Cons

sometimes dates or amounts are wrong, so I have to double check for accuracy. B/c I have a lot of rcpts, this can be time consuming, if I don't keep on top of it, but it's a small price to pay for how organized my rcpts now are. Reporting business expenses on my taxes is so much simpler and much more accurate now.

Long time customer

We were using another company for tracking receipts. It was quite cumbersome but there wasn't many other options at the time. Then came along Shoeboxed that made everything simpler, providing the options to submit receipts from all different devices.

Pros

The various ways available for filing receipts.

Cons

The mobile app is slow in responding. The server is also slow during peak times, especially around tax season.

Lots of Mistakes

Pros

Receipts can be viewed, downloaded, and printed. Filters are really useful and make searching for receipts quick and easy

Cons

Lots of mistakes such as typos. Vendors can be entered multiple times due to poor spelling and typos. I have to manually edit receipts in order to get the vendor names consistent. I suggest those doing the data entry look at previous receipts or have an auto-fill feature so that vendors aren't entered multiple times. Non-receipts are entered as receipts by automatic email link. For example my dinner reservation was entered as a receipt. Order confirmations were entered as receipts also which resulted in a single purchase being entered multiple times into my account. Mobile app is useful but doesn't support long receipts. I suggest allowing multiple pictures to support long receipt like other mobile apps do

Pros

Very User friendly. Love that you can do it yourself and get the receipts logged in immediately. Is a great software for keeping organized all in one place

Cons

Unable to change or delete the card #s when clicking which card. So many unused numbers on there. Cannot add a new one unless they do it

Very useful tool for tracking and storing receipts. Needs ability to save various reports.

storage and search capability

Pros

Scans and reads multiple receipts at once via ScanSnap. Categorizes based on credit card number (though not always accurately).

Cons

Needs 1) ability to import directly into Quickbooks Desktop, and 2) needs more robust reporting tools. Can't save and reuse reports based on various search criteria.

So happy I found this product

Pros

I found Shoeboxed a few years ago, and had never thought about a "receipt organization service", but what they do is truly "magic": I just send them my receipts, bills and all sorts of documents and they, within just like a day, scan everything and upload it to my mobile app and online account - I always have my receipts at my fingertips now, and all of that without any work required on my part. I love this service so much!

Cons

I don't have any complaints really. Maybe.. their support hours? Their support is amazing, first of all, but I had times where I couldn't reach them via phone when I wanted to run a report etc.

The ability to separate documents would be most wonderful and very helpful

Pros

I enjoy the ability to mail in all receipts and documents in one self addressed free envelope . Email of received package and processed is very useful

Cons

Not able to separate documents , not easy to combine receipt names when multiple have been made by mistake, When a document is unable to be processed it would help if the return email would give the original document or receipts that where email uploaded to help me change the format and resend as there are others that upload receipts and documents multiple times a day and finding which one that has been unable to be processed is very hard

I love the convenience of having my emailed receipts automatically sent to Shoeboxed.

Time saver, easy categorizathonen of emails, easy retrieval of receipts later when needed.

Pros

Shoeboxed provides me with an easy way to automatically categorize, save and retrieve important emailed receipts. This saves me a great deal of time.

Cons

I have not really found many cons, although sometimes Shoeboxed will misread & mislabel an email as a receipt when its really not, but this is only a very minor inconvenience.

Great for organizing but processing can be a little slow/glitchy

Pros

Having everything in one place on my phone is great, and being able to email my expense report directly from the app is a nice feature.

Cons

The processing grabs the wrong information from the photo of the receipt- for instance, if it's a screen shot of an invoice on my phone, it will list the merchant as "Verizon" and I have to spend extra time going back and fixing those.

Pros

I love how easy it is to snap a picture of the receipt on my phone app and then I don't have I keep up with a paper trail! I always lost receipts before.

Cons

I've found sometimes I have to reset my app because it has a glitch that makes my old receipts not show up. They're still on the computer version, I'm not sure why this happens.

Pros

I like that Shoeboxed allows me to send them both paper and digital receipts. The categorization is pretty spot on and you can set up rules for common expenses.

Cons

I wish Shoeboxed integrated with more bookkeeping platforms and had more triggers on Zapier. The categorization could use more refinement.

Fetch Expense Reporting user

Great & useful!

Pros

I love Fetch! We integrated it into our office last year & it has been a great addition! Our employees find it sinple & efficient to submit receipts, etc for reimbursement & I find it very well designed.

Cons

We initially had a bit of difficulty getting everyone in sync with the ststem. Some employees use Apple devices & some use Android devices. Once we took the time to focus on company wide training, it was a breeze.
