Great potential
A really good solution with an excellent price compared to many software options. Very easy to use and simple to expand and contract as needed. No huge investments required. A few areas to keep improving. Hopefully the changes can keep up.
Pros
The software is easy to use and full of features. Really well suited to straightforward rentals and a small to medium business. Cloud based makes it excellent from a hardware requirements and access point of view.
Cons
There are areas that need more flexibility especially once you want to move away from the basic to anything more complex. It can be difficult to make it work to your own business rather than as per the original.

The Best Rental Software to date
Pros
I like this software because I find it easy to use and the customer service is very efficient. If I am unsure on how to do something and I contact Current via their online chat, I usually get a response almost straight away. Previous rental softwares that I have used over the years have not had this option and it caused a lot of frustration.
Cons
We do permanent installations which involves a lot of sale items. The process for booking items out are treated the same as rental i.e. book out, check in, finalise check in. It would be good if the system could identify a sale as not requiring check in.

Your thoughts around sale items automatically being marked as sold as soon as it's been booked out is very good feedback.
When we initially designed this, we allowed check-in for those businesses that put 10 consumable items out on an order, but perhaps only 8 were sold/used and 2 were returned, and this is what the check-in process allows.
However, we understand there's lots of businesses that don't want that extra step. I've submitted this to our product management team as a potential development quick win and our team will have a discussion on what's entailed to make this change.

Great Software for Small to Medium Rental Companies, with major drawbacks once you grow
I have recommended Current RMS to many companies in the past (who are now also Current RMS users). However I have not been able to recommend Current RMS recently as I feel like the development has come to a complete halt. New features take months to be released (if at all), and old releases are still in Beta and in desperate need of updates.
Currently in the market for an alternative solution with more advanced features, and a better development lifecycle.
Pros
Current RMS is great if you need a simple, one-stop solution for a small or medium sized rental company with basic feature requirements. Their support team is very efficient and helpful. Great documentation and easy to integrate with other products, either via built-in integrations or the API.
Cons
They have been very slow to implement new major improvements to the system, especially given the extensive list of feature requests by the community. Mobile application is terrible, and there are long periods where no features are released at all. Current RMS was designed to be as universal as possible, which is both a positive and negative.
Reporting function needs a lot of work, and is currently BASIC.

Our Experience with Current RMS
Current RMS has been great for us so far, but we make up for the lack of pretty key features like payment integration, and online booking with lots of hours of extra admin and processes that we'd love to see automated and integrated into Current, to make it streamlined for our customers and free us up to spend time improving our business rather than maintaining it by being buried under lots of computer time.
Pros
Current RMS provides our company with a great asset management tool and the necessary systems to ensure that stock is managed well by our team and delivered properly to our clients.
Cons
It would be great to see a credit card payment link integrated into the invoices produced by Current, much like Xero integrates a payment link using Stripe on the invoices it produces. This would reduce steps in the workflow for our administration team and reduce confusion with our customers. Currently we have to post an invoice in current and then generate another invoice in Xero to create a credit card payment link when our customers want to pay that way.
Another issue that would be great to see resolved is part payments. When a customer pays a deposit and it is credited towards the invoice, it would be ideal if the next invoice that is generated automatically takes what has been paid and applies it to the invoice so that when the outstanding amount invoice is generated, it shows the amount left owing automatically. Currently it seems that it needs to be worked out manually.
Another feature that we are desperate to see is website integration for online bookings. Currently we have a website that accepts equipment orders, then we get the order and have to manually add it to Current RMS. The issue is that customers can't check if the product is actually available before booking, can't book for multiple days and have to wait for us to check and confirm the order after we've manually done it on Current. We would gladly pay more for the service if this feature was integrated, much like what Booqable offers, but with the features that Current provides.

Enjoying our experience but room for improvement
Overall we are very happy with current-rms and the few cons are vastly outweighed by the pros of the system. It's a good fit for our company and it's been a pleasure to use for these past ~5 years.
Pros
The UI and UX on current-rms is fantastic and very intuitive. It's very easy for us to onboard new hires onto the system and the support materials and tutorials online are good. It has a good level of functionality for our needs and does almost everything we need to operate our business. The cloud based design is also very convenient and the ability to customize documents within the software ourselves is very appreciated. It is also great to see new features and improvements consistently implemented. It's a joy to use everyday!
Cons
My biggest area of frustration with current-rms are with the inventory checking module and functionality, while it does work it's very bare bones and when we do our annual inventory check it's constantly causing us headaches and we often have to use other tools simultaneously (spreadsheets, documents etc.) to properly keep track of where we are in the inventory check process. The way the inventory module is laid out makes it very difficult to look up the status of a specific item during an inventory check. My other frustration is the lack of custom reports, you can create custom fields and lists of values, however reporting on those is not possible, we had to hire an outside developer to implement a tool via the API in order to achieve the full functionality we needed for our business. The software would be pretty much perfect in my mind if it had a robust inventory checking module and the ability to do custom reporting.

I like Current-RMS for rental, but what they do good is to make use of strong integration partners and not try to invent everything themselves.
Cons
There has been a long period of no development and new features. It seems to be picking up now. Some obvious functions are still not in there. They are on the 'under consideration' list but would love to see them released.

Feedback of Current
Support is very good considering the time difference. Ease for a new user to get up and running
Pros
Ease of use. Licencing is fair in relation to other products.
Cons
Opportunities to invoice needs some work for the hospitality industry as client makes changes very often.
New document process is very long winded. Can take up to 6-8weeks to have new documents developed hence we tend to stay away.

Easy to implement software
Overall, happy with the software. The only times we've had struggles, it was down to us needing more training rather than the system itself.
Pros
30 day trial - Full ability to try the software before making a commitment to it
The price includes YouTube videos and live zoom sessions
The support team gave me import templates to easily upload my equipment
Not locked into any contracts
Can access the system on mobile whilst out on the road
Ability to speak to the support team instantly on the phone
Cons
There's been a couple of times I haven't had the response I wanted from support, but when I escalate this, the senior members of the team are very knowledgeable and happy to help.

A simple to use and effective piece of software, it has helped transform & streamline our...
Our main benefits are time saving and having everything in one place when previously it was spread across 3 or 4 different packages is fantastic.
Having the ability to access easily makes remote working a lot easier, no need for VPN connections back to the office.

Overall a great product in fairly early stages of life and is improved upon regularly. The support I had during set up was fantastic and some major improvements to the calendar was taken into account and implemented making it much more user friendly (in my opinion). Support is much more responsive than our previous software company and generally its a positive outcome too! The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars across the board is that there always ways to improve and for the few cons as below.
Cons
A few well thought out ideas and well supported items on the wishlist that have been on for a long time with no sign of implementation - e.g. moving oustanding items to an existing Opportunity - email templates - choosing optional accessories - Do a deal button
Better Outlook integration would be nice
No option to choose who can see custom views - only ability to do this at User Role level, not individual User level
No way of customising the main Dashboard
No real stock check routine

Only just about worth having - I'm sure there are better on the market - development is slow
We've had current RMS since 2017. We've used it because at the time everyone was raving about it compared to hiretrack and rentalpoint. Fundamentally it's a good idea but it's been bolted and added onto so much now that it really does need an overhaul. We considered getting rid of it and going back to our old system but decided it's (only just) worth having. With recent price increases we may revisit that though...

That it tries to bring all elements of rental management in to one platform
Cons
That it tries to appeal to too many markets. It is never set up how you want it. There are constant workarounds which need to be in place. Development of ideas is slow and cumbersome.

Good Product
Overall, we are very happy with the product and continue to customize it as we grow.
Pros
It creates a single platform to view all rentals, management equipment and interface with the clients. Integration with other apps, such as Quickbooks, is crucial.
Cons
It is expensive to have our entire crew as users to use the scheduling function. Setting up of the dates in each opportunity is cumbersome.Most events are on the same day. Having to change the delivery date, charging start date, charging end date, and the pick up date every time is tedious.

Great application

Excellent bang for buck.
I moved my small rental business to current from a much older legacy platform that required me to maintain a local server. Cloud access was not an option. Having moved to current, I can now maintain my assets much better, and with the new API I have been able to create custom tools to further improve my workflow.
Pros
Flexibility, constant updating and improvements.
Cons
Lacking a couple of core feature sets (overall job pricing, test and tag) that most other platforms support.

Excellent software for small and big companies
We have been using Current-RMS for over a year now and it has really improved our speed, organization and peace of mind. We are a small production company that owns our own equipment so we live in a little bit different realm than most but it has helped us tremendously nonetheless. After entering everything into the system, Current-RMS has greatly sped up our check-in and check-out process and has made managing multiple shoots very easy.
Pros
The value is incredible. You get a lot of flexibility and they are constantly updating and listening to feedback from their customers.
Cons
Like any new software it takes a little getting use to. It's kind of like learning a new language and you just have to figure out the right way to set something up or do something, but they offer great support articles and have a good community forum, plus their customer service is very speedy with any questions.

Clean, beautiful and functional - couldn't run without!
Current makes us a better business - that's true testament to the quality of the product and the genius of their team. Incredible support (best of any supplier) and they have an obvious desire to consistently be awesome, expand the software and ultimately help the end-user. This is the team to back for CRM.

Easy & reliable
The team at Current have always been very helpful - the cloud based platform has been really easy to use for all members of the team to use.
We use Current for both hire and sales, it's been great to see the features develop and is really encouraging to see the updates released regularly with functions that are really useful.
We've also just integrated with Xero so are hoping to continue the easy-to-use systems of work that Current has given us.

Brilliant user-friendly cloud software
If your running a hire business or event production business I would certainly recommend Current RMS... Its a colourful well laid out cloud software you can easily access from your own desktop through a standard web browser or in costa coffee on any other device. You can quickly manage equipment, pull of equipment preparation lists, assign staff to jobs, send invoices to clients and prepare quotations.
There is no complex setting up of servers and the support from Current RMS is superb.
There are constantly adding free updates as suggested and voted by users.
Highly recommended.
