Features, functions, and fabulous

Despite the desperate cheerleader narratives about every, single one of their features (we get it, it's cool guys), some of their offerings really are innovative and a welcome addition to business management software that you can't find in any of their competitors (geofencing clock in/out is possibly the best thing I've ever heard), their costs are the lowest I've ever seen and their easy to navigate platform is the most comprehensive I've ever found. Even if they charged 5 or 10x what they are, it would still be an easy choice.

Pros

This software was easy to use and implement, intuitive, colorful, well labeled, directive, fluid, and flexible. There are a lot of options available and it offers a lot od customization during both set up and operation. I especially loved that the process to
use sling, and the web application, was fast and understandable trying to get a small start up off the ground has me already spread thin on time and money, so sling really packs a punch for it's cost, which literally made my jaw drop, unparalleled!

Cons

The company website (not the web application itself) was cumbersome and their prose was annoyingly perky. Seeing as they rambled on and on in long, overly adulating paragraphs about each one of their features, by the time I got to the "what's included in all packages/price points" section, I was a little disappointed about all the features not included (successful marketing ploy) but disappointing nonetheless.

BEST for Staff Communication (time off, messages, notices, meetings)

We needed something to help communicate with all of our staff, and we tried lots of other systems. With Sling's many ways to communicate, via pages, messages, and the scheduling portion, we found it the most useful. We love that you can like or comment on posts to ensure staff know what they are doing, and that you can pin high priority topics at the top of the page to best find them when you need access quickly.

Pros

We love the time off request- the ability to do it by day or by the hour is a great feature for our type of work where employees are scheduled by the hour. We love how you can see if it has been approved or is pending, and the notifications to all management when a staff requests off is a great feature to keep everyone in the know!

Cons

We are working with the free version only, so under 50 employees, but we do have seasonal hiring, so in the summer months we go over that number. We make it work, but it would be great to have flexibility to sometimes go over that number if needed to keep it a free user system.

Wonderful Scheduling app & very user friendly

Overall, I love utilizing Sling for my job. I wish the free account had more slots available.

Pros

I use this program for scheduling my front desk staff and aquatic staff. It's been working really well and it's very easy to use. My older staff are equally able to figure out the program without much issue which is really nice. I also like that it's available on an app as well as the website.

Cons

I wish the free user accounts didn't keep it at 50 users. Sling keeps downsizing and I'm over my limit already and can't add any more! I'm using the trial of the business premium & love the geofencing/clock-in feature, however, I found that if you accidently clock out, you cannot edit the clock out or clock back in until your next shift. There should be a way to edit the clock-out like there is the clock-in.

Easy and simple platform

Easy to use and simple. Visually straightforward, not clunky and everything was clearly laid out for first time users.

Pros

Relatively straight forward to use. Can see overall view of upcoming shifts and easy to clock in/out with adjustments if needed. Also like the feature of seeing how many hours were worked each week so invoicing can be accurate.

Cons

No features I didn't like. I hardly used the chat function but did notice when it was being used, for example, for reporting sickness, there'd be multiple chat threads when maybe it could be populated in one stream?

Using Sling changed my life

Sling has been absolutely, hands down the best software we have ever adopted. I never feel frustrated with it and it helps save me time and irritations. My employees love it too! Best decision ever!

Pros

I love how easy it is to create a schedule and see what employees are not available, it makes completing the schedule painless and quick. I also love that you can complete it as non-published then once you are ready publish it to your employees. The notification feature telling employees when you schedule them and then again reminding them they are schedule is fantastic; my employees love that feature also. Being able to use the integrated time clock is also a great feature. There are just so many feature and customizations that it would be an asset for any type of business at any size.

Cons

I absolutely love this software. The only thing that would be nice to add is the ability for an employee to put their availability in addition to the current feature of unavailability. Because we have many employees who work "as needed" and "very part time" this would save a lot of time on their part on entering information. We could easily see when these "flex" employees would be available to work without them having to put in an excessive amount of unavailable entries as they do now.

Sling Software Saved Me So Much Time!

I have used Sling for a few years now -- it meets my needs and goes above an beyond for the products it offers to the user. Sling support staff have been responsive to my needs and questions. A Great Product!

Pros

Above all, I love that Sling has saved me so much time when making the schedule for my employees! Used to take 3-4 hours, now it only takes me approximately 1 hour to create a weekly schedule. Sling is accessible by computer and by mobile application. I love that it has many different colors for the different shifts that I need to create. Love that I can copy and paste shifts.

Cons

I wish that the mobile application gave me a total count of hours for each employee. When approving an employee to pick up an extra shift, I currently need to go to a computer to see to total count of hours for that individual before I can approve. Wish I could see total count of hours on my phone, so that I can approve when I am initially notified (which is usually an app notification to my phone).

Sling Low, Sweet Chariot

I think the best way to describe our experience with Sling is by relaying the following series of events. We were aware that we were losing money due to inefficient scheduling, so much so that our board of directors authorized us to spend $500 for a consultant to come provide us with a better way to operate. While the consultant had some decent ideas, they were not actionable. We decided to try out Sling. Now that we have started using it and upgraded to the premium version, we are spending less annually to have all our scheduling handled by Sling than we paid a consultant for a day's worth of work. The cost of implementing Sling was far, far outweighed by the savings that it brought us.

Pros

Sling has taken away the need for us to have a dedicated employee spend 15-20 hours a week on employee scheduling. We are a relatively small non-profit, and as such we have multiple employees who routinely have to work outside their specialty/field of expertise in order to keep us afloat. One area that we have consistently had issues with is scheduling and tracking employees and volunteers. With multiple sites and multiple managers, we were losing money because we were doubling up on many shifts. It was not until we implemented Sling that we were able to effectively manage our employees schedule to provide us with the most return on our investment and our customers with the best service.

Cons

We started out using the free version of Sling. Because we have less than 50 employees, this suited us fine at first, but there were options we did not have access to. We quickly realized that the limitations imposed by the free version could easily be solved by upgrading to the minimally priced premium version.

Scheduling Tool Perfection

Pros

Super easy to create recurring schedules for the team, keep track of time off requests, and fill in gaps in scheduling when necessary.

Cons

The only thing I wish Sling could do is copy singular shifts and "paste" them somewhere else. The app/website offers a repetitive function, but for the shifts that only re-occur occasionally this would make scheduling much more efficient.

Pros

This is great for tracking hours and making sure employees are getting those hours on the schedule and repeating shifts. You are able to continue for an entire year and it's easy to fix when employees have to shift hours due to life's little emergencies happening.
Being able to color code for each department is a wonderful plus.

Sling - Simplistic, Yet Effective

Great experience. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I have used other apps that work just as good as this one that had maybe one or two more features. Other than that, I am very happy with sling and how easy it is to use.

Pros

The ease of use for this app is great. It is very simple and your eyes are directed at exactly what you're looking for. Simplistic look is what I'm trying to say. Not just the looks are simple, though. It is very easy to navigate, review schedules, timecards, communicate with your team, etc.

Cons

I genuinely can't think of anything off the top of my head.

Pros

It is easy to see everyone’s work schedule and request time off. Also like the ability to message particular coworkers or groups of coworkers.

Cons

I get lots of notifications on the mobile app.

Solid choice for scheduling

Overall I enjoyed using Sling and found it useful for whag I was trying to achieve. Scheduling was easy and team was notified of the shifts swiftly.

Pros

Ease of use and functionality. The scheduling part was good and loved the way it dealt with leave and absence.

Cons

Ui was not the best but it was not the worst one I've seen among all the scheduling apps.

ED SLING SCHEDULING

It works with a staff of over 50 associates and makes scheduling much simpler with that number of staff. Covering 12- 15 different shifts per day in a 24/7 department.

Pros

The ease all the staff can enter the dates they want to work, so schedules can be covered. Cuts down on phone calls of management to see who is available for uncovered shits and days.

Cons

I would like the Staff- Off that day Days to be at the top of the Schedule so the person doing the scheduling would know who not to look for on that shift.

Sling is Wonderful!!!

Pros

This software is very helpful for scheduling, tracking time punches, and reporting. Especially when integrated with Toast, Sling is excellent! The mobile functionality of Sling is also incredibly important and useful.

Cons

The user interface in the mobile app leaves a bit to be desired.

Agency Scheduling

It's a cost effective scheduling dashboard, that I can personally recommend despite the occasional bug. It will help you organize staff and operations with a quickness - transitioning to this system was very easy.

Pros

Transparent scheduling features, ease of use of the timeclock to report hours, and ability to modify reports through dates, locations, and employees.

Cons

Customer service usually doesn't have an answer for you - although they are polite - I wish that some of these bugs we encountered were ironed out sooner than later.

Sling is a must have!

Easy set up, many options for preferences. Employees found it super easy to use, minimal training involved. I like that you can schedule shifts, then assign employees to them. Customer service is very helpful and quick to respond.

Pros

Very easy to use, visually easy to read both in scheduling and time cards.

Cons

Can't think of anything! Zero complaints from me!

Meevo

Reasons for Choosing Sling

Mostly to save paper, but also to keep employees honest

Reasons for Switching to Sling

Meevo was almost what we needed for scheduling appointments, and included a time clock option. We went with a different program that included routing, and does not have a time clock option.

Good platform for scheduling management.

Pros

This platform is very easy to use. Time tracking, request days off, PTO, vacation time, swaps, I was able to do everything there, it is self-explanatory. And we were able to access it from our phones, works for remote work.

Cons

Nothing negative to mention. Good platform.

Game Changer for us.

In the nature of my business, it just works! I love that my employees can see who else is working where. BUT they can see who is working with them. The fees are totally afforadable! It makes life SO easy for me from what we were using before!!

Pros

What I like the most about Sling is... I used to text message all of my employees to ler ask if they can work and then again to let them know when they are working! I no longer need to do that. They all know if they cant work they do the "Time Off request" if they can never work on such day they do "Unavailible" The natrue of our business are only events so we are somewhere different every event. Sling connects the address to the date as well. Its just been a total Game Changer a fee that we can afford!!

Cons

This is a hard one! I really cant think of what I like least other than it needs to be intgrated with Apple Calendar, and the notification glitch I mentioned earlier.

Cuts down on times spent on scheduling

Pros

Love the fact that I can look out months out to see who I have off and when. It let's those who are on vacation know what their schedule is without calling the store. We can communicate with our employee's when we have a store meeting, if we have shifts

Cons

My one and only issue is the cost. As a General Manager of one store, the overall company does not pay to use Sling so I am responsible for the bill. I am sure though, that a company as a whole would not have an issue with the cost.

Not a good scheduling app for me

I used briefly for about 6 months in a studio setting. This was difficult for instructors to use and staff. I really disliked that you had to input the entire schedule manually and it did not sync.

Pros

I was not a fan of this product for the most part

Cons

It is not user friendly and has very limited capabilities.
