It’s been extremely easy to use and set up, and is keeping in compliance!

Melio is Awesome
Pros
Melio offers my business the luxury of paying vendors and receiving payments without high subscription fees or a lengthy set up. I was able to pay several vendors within minutes without headache or hassle. My vendors received payments within days and not weeks. This is an awesome and much appreciated feature for my small business.
Cons
All the current features met my business needs and expectations at this time.

Started off okay, then crashed and burned
It started off as a pretty okay solution for needing to streamline payments to vendors all in one place. It wasn't the smoothest ever - seemed like lots of extra/unnecessary clicks to do what you need to do - but the best thing I could find at the time. (more than once I didn't ACTUALLY send a payment that I thought I did, because their process involves several steps of confirmation and the last step looks like a confirmation page... but you have to actually scroll down to the bottom of the page and approve the payment one more time, before it will be sent. And the page is formatted just long enough that the button is not visible on a regularly sized browser screen, you have to scroll down to see it).
Support was slow and usually refused to answer my questions at first because I logged in with my Intuit account and apparently they couldn't match up the email address I'd send requests from with my Melio account. I learned I needed to tell them in the initial email that the email address I was using was my Intuit account and that's how I log in to Melio. Towards the end, support just flat out refused to respond to me at all - even when I reached out multiple times (all I wanted to do was cancel a recurring payment - that always failed b/c of aforementioned vendor name issue - but I couldn't log in anymore without paying for a plan).
Later on as they began rolling out the paid version, the site became very buggy, I had issues with payments being processed that they couldn't explain, and overall became a total hair-pulling event every time I signed in. Completely incompatible with running a professional business.
I shifted all my banking to Relay that has built in support for bill payment. I'm paying a bit for the service, but it does everything Melio claimed to do except better, and the integration with QBO is much more intuitive. And you can get a knowledgeable human on the phone within 10 minutes if you have a question! Wish I'd made that switch ages ago.
Pros
I liked having a central place to pay my bills from. Worked decently at first... but then...
Cons
Melio became a raging dumpster fire for me right around the time they started rolling out their paid plans. I started encountering FAR more errors in the process, failed payments with no notice, failures in the interface... all things that had operated fine (if not flawlessly) before. I was willing to put up with a certain amount of hassle factor in exchange for the service, but when service quality noticeably deteriorated simultaneously with them rolling out a required paid plan, I couldn't run away fast enough (I see now there's a limited free option, but initially that wasn't there).
Also, yes it integrates with QBO, but not in a logical way to my non-bookkeeper mind. I found it very confusing and not a smooth process at all.
Uploading invoices and pulling info from them is good in theory but rarely worked in practice. Bad info would get pulled in and I'd have to edit. It would drop vendor names and I'd have to re-enter. (oh, and towards the end it wouldn't save edits I made to vendor names, either, and then it would kick back payments because the vendor name was incomplete!) I could choose to not upload invoices, but then sometimes payment would fail because there was no invoice! Overall maddening.

Exhausting Melio
Using Melio increased the time I spend on book keeping. That should tell you all you need to know.

False Advertising
Because of they did not deliver payments as advertised and because they did not respond to my inquiry regarding my payment not being expedited. I do not recommend their service.

Easy to setup and start using. Integrates with Quickbooks.
Cons
They advertise that payments will be sent to vendors in 2-3 business days. My vendors told me that payments took 5 business days. You can pay additional for next day payment delivery, which I tried. The payment still took 5 business days. I emailed customer service and received no response.

Simple way to make payments
It makes the whole process of paying bills easier and spending hours entering data. It is quite useful for making online payments very quickly.
Pros
We have managed to make bill payment faster and easier with Melio, making payments to clients in a timely manner. Previously, bill payments were made one by one and this took hours due to the complexity of entering data. Now I only have to upload the bills and Melio does everything for me. I like it because it does the boring work of entering data.
Cons
I don't think anything went wrong. The only thing I would change is the customer service because they don't provide fast service.

Best credit card processor
Melio enabled us to access more vendors.
Pros
Melio offers a service that to the best of my knowledge no one else does. It enables payment using a credit card to vendors that do NOT accept credit card payment. Melio processes the credit card and then sends the payment to the vendor by ACH. Their rates are competitive, and they are often less than fees some vendors surcharge for credit payments.

User-friendly platform, you can decide to approve or not the payments, which makes a great team work environment, and also allows you to just have bills already approved, if you want to give someone more independence, in any case, that works great!
Cons
Sometimes we need more support like a call, not an email, but they replay fast, but I like more having or a live chat or a call instead of waiting.

not able to create extensive reports. Also I would like a feature where you can create multiple payments for same vendor and pay at once and still keep them as separate payments.

Glaring Security Problems
Pros
I enjoy the ease of collaboration, having multiple separate accounts linked and the ease of training. Also vendors find it easy to use too. It's a simple system.
Cons
Security flaws are huge. I have reached out numerous times and get no serious response. Literally any employee or CPA or bookkeeper that I give access to Melio can at will change any vendor ACH information? Anyone. There is no way to prevent it. You have to just hope you dont have a disgruntled employee or book-keeper?
What's worse is that there is no alert. No way to be informed. No way to approve. Anyone can change that information if they have access to my Melio account. It's such an obvious avenue for fraud it's stunning and the lack of urgency on fixing it will likely drive me to use a competitor. I just can't take the risk of my money being stolen because we all know Melio will not do much to get it back once it's gone. I'd stay away from Melio until this fixed.

Easy to use but not easy to fix.
I am a Virtual Assistant. I help small businesses and entrepreneurs with the administrative pieces of their business such as accounts payable, bookkeeping, organization, etc. I'm always on the lookout for technology that can make my clients' lives easier. Quickbooks, for instance, does that. Melio purports to do that, and a year ago I would have been singing their praises.
I am not singing their praises this year. Nor am I recommending them to any of my clientele. The administrative church of the past two months created from issues Melio caused has cost one of my client's time, effort, and money. We now have a project that is critically in danger because of Melio's failure to communicate in a timely fashion. I get it, everyone's busy, but a company that prides itself on payment processing needs quicker response times and customer service agents who are better empowered to handle client's complaints.
24-48 hours is not good enough for a payment processor. 5 days even less so.
I will not be recommending Melio to any of my clients going forward. You're better off getting Bill Pay through your financial institution and having your bank handle everything. Or, better yet, the old-fashioned, check or credit card method. Melio has proven they are unreliable.
Pros
The ease of use is incomparable. I will give Melio that at least. You can select multiple bills at a time and halve your effort when it's time to pay off invoices.
Cons
The unreliability. And this is on two different fronts. I use Melio as a contracted Virtual Assistant/consultant with clients. My client uses Melio for ease of payment. However, the last two months have been a nightmare to deal with because of actions Melio took without communication or resolution.
1. Single-Use Card Option: This shouldn't even be an option, in my opinion for anyone. There is too great a risk of fraud. Anyone with access to a company's email can change their payment receipt to a different form, such as single-use card without anyone being the wiser. I've had this happen twice now, and it's put a serious strain on vendor relations and made us look like zeros instead of heroes. Worst of all, support does nothing but say it's the "payer's responsibility" to check information. That's true enough and I agree wholeheartedly, but the idea that anyone with a company's email address can just change informaiton at will is, frankly, a little concerning.
2. ACH payments get denied without any reason cited and then you can't get a response out of support except to say to contact the "Compliance" team or "Bill Payments Operation."
I've now had three instances of payments being stopped--critical payments I'd add. The first took two weeks to fix. First, it was stopped by the "Compliance" team. I did my due diligence and contacted said team for resolution. I contacted the Bill Pay Operations team as well for resolution. You know how long it took to get ANYONE to responde? FIVE DAYS. Five days on a $20k payment. When I did get a resolution it was to say that the payment had gone through--no one even bothered to check with us to see if we still needed the payment to go through.
We'd already cut a manual check for the amount and hand-delivered it to thee vendor. When Melio unilaterally pushed the payment thorugh, we had to rush to get the check voided, then notify the rest of our accounting team, the vendor, and the bank what was going on. It cost us two weeks of effort to fix one payment.
Our most recent denial was for a payment to wrap up a project so we could get final payment. That was denied too. It's been 24+ hours since we've contacted support and no one has said "boo" let alone an explanation for what thee payment failed. Now we have a nearly $100k payment in the balance.
Customer service agents are always busy. They're also always critically under empowered and under supported by their own companies. I don't blame them. No, I blame whoever at Melio decided that email was the only customer service line to provide and that 5 days is perfectly acceptable to respond and then only to create more problems.
Up to this point, customer service has been stellar. I don't know what happened between last year and this year, but this has got to stop. Melio isn't the one who suffers the consequences of payments not going through--it's the users. It's my client's company that's suffering the effects of this lack of communication.

Easy to use payment platform
Setting up an account, entering vendors, and paying invoices is extremely easy. People who have to use more "corporate" systems in larger companies even said, I wish I could use this for my work. You should see what I have to put up with.
Pros

Can’t get paid
Apparently my experience is awful because I can’t get my money
Pros
I am a Notary in the state of Florida. I currently have 2 customers who are attempting to use Melio to pay me. I have tried numerous times and different ways to set up my ACH payments to my bank account. Melio will not recognize my bank. Unfortunately now Signature Mobil Services refuses to pay me any other way and CAC has been trying to pay me thru Melio and is unable.

I still can’t get paid and I’m disgusted with the process there are no phone numbers to call and I get nowhere when I email

Easiest Payment System
We started using Melio when they integrated with Quickbooks Online and they made it so simple to pay our high-cost vendors quickly; after the integration ended, we found them on their own and have been ecstatic that the separate site functions almost exactly like it did in Quickbooks. It's truly one of the best payment systems I have.
Pros
How quickly it connects with our Intuit account, which meant that I didn't need to load every single bill in our system into Melio so I could start payments to vendors.
Cons
I do not have any cons with my use of Melio.

No Longer An Asset to My Clients or Practice
Terrible!!
Pros
There is absolutely nothing I like about Melio anymore. This payment service is not ideal. Most of my clients do not use it. And for the one's who do, I am working to remove them from the platform.
Cons
Melio declines all expedited payments no matter the amount. Payments that they used to allow to be expedited that have not changed in dollar amounts or vendors, or payment accounts, are all of a sudden being declined consistently causing issues for my clients and causing my payments to be late. Again I am working to remove the remaining few from this platform and encouraging them to use other AP platforms that come with bill pay or simply use their banks. So far I've removed 13 clients and I now need to remove 4 more and I can be done with the nightmare.

Melio – Manage your ACH payments
What sets Melio apart for me is its simplicity, especially when it comes to regular vendors. Sending payments is easy and the platform also allows me to keep a record of all payments made during the year. This is incredibly helpful come tax time.
Pros
I have been using Melio to manage payments to suppliers and contractors. The platform allows us to process ACH payments completely free of charge, which is an incredible benefit. You only incur a cost if you send more than two checks per month. I like its design and the speed at which payments are processed.
Cons
What I don't like is the customer support, it is very, very slow, and when you have a problem with a transaction it can be very tedious and time consuming.

Magnificent Melio
Pros
Melio provides fantastic features such as quick payments including international. There are also no fees for payments. My favorite feature is there are incentives such as earning points simply for making and receiving payments.

I have no complaints at this time. Melio is a great software.

Worst customer service ever
customer service is the biggest joke in the world!!

The product itself is really nice for book keeping and why I want to keep using but im about to find something different if I cant get some one to email me or call me back.

Customer service!!!!! I think I have emailed or messaged them 5-10 times and have never received a response or call back. Ive asked my friend who is a recruiter to get me a real persons email and phone number and they didnt respond. All I want to do is change my email address because the one on file doesn't work anymore.

Customer Service is not good - Service is inconsistent
Overall experience is that they are inconsistent and have poor customer service. Not a company or software that can be relied upon.
Pros
I like that they offer the same day vendor payment for a reasonable fee. I also like the check payment option in the event a signer is not available.
Cons
Just a buyer beware, avoid same day payments, the vendor does not receive funds when promised and they still take their money out of your bank account for the same day service.When we pay the same day processing fee it is a 50/50 shot if it makes it to your vendor the same day. Their customer service reps make excuse after excuse and attempt to blame the customer. They ask for screen shots proving what you are saying and even when provided they blame the customer. Unfortunately this exact same interaction has occurred at least 3 different times, paying different vendors, and reaching out to customer service and being treated and spoken to the same way. They also will not refund the fees when there is a service failure. They just say, [sensitive content hidden] but nothing is ever done and you will have to contact your bank if you or your vendor would like a refund. Even with the receipts they request they do not care even telling me that I should have read their policy article before using their service. We won't be using any paid methods of payment with Melio any longer because sadly they are at best dishonest in what they charge for and they don't see any problem with the way in which they do business.

Helpful as can be
Melio is nice to sync all information of A/P and A/R to keep better track of what is paying out and what is coming in. I don't have to write as many checks and mail out invoices. I think with some work on the accounts receivable side this program will be even better. You have to wait sometimes for items to sync. Can't really complain too much when most transactions are free. That's really nice.
Pros
I like how Melio syncs with my QBO. I put in a bill and it shows up in my to pay list of vendors. From there I can schedule it to be paid and its paid on time.
Cons
Much improvement is needed in the accounts receivable. My invoices sometimes don't show up for me to send and it's hard for some of my customers to sign up to make payments to me or they don't want to give out their banking information.

Easy to Use, Tougher to Resolve Issues
Pros
It's a very simple and straightforward way to automate payments (and recurring payments) to vendors, with good payment tracking capability.
Cons
If something goes wrong with a payment, good luck sorting it out. Once a had a payment bounce back from the recipient, even though I had paid them several times without issue before. Melio customer service gave me multiple different answers as to why that might be. After allegedly "fixing" it, they had me resubmit the payment, only to have it bounce back again - only this time the money got hung up in Melio's system and I had to file a special request to get it back, which took about a week. I just ended up paying the vendor manually myself.Currently I am going back and forth with Melio over a different issue, an inexplicable claim that my tax ID number is associated with two separate accounts. They only divulge information about this in pieces, so it has been left to me to figure out what is going on. Now they want me to email them my SSN so they can confirm -- I don't think so! Of course, in the meantime, I keep getting automated emails from Melio saying "there is still a problem that you haven't resolved." Long story short, when the program works it works great, but what a s**tshow when it doesn't.

Melio Simplifies the Payables Proecess
Melio has streamlined our accounting process internally and with our clients. it has given us the ability to work in remote situations and process payments for clients no matter where we are. The payment status and tracking has been key to making sure vendors receive payments and deposit them.
Pros
Melio is an easy app to setup. It's integration into the accounting software is key. It is easy to use and customer service can help with any issues like Stop payments or reissuing payments which saves time on the payables side. It is a benefit that vendors can receive ACH or Checks all with a click of a button!
Cons
The cost per check can be a con of the product, since we went from using it on its inception it was an inconvenience to have to start paying a fee per payment. however the application is still less expensive than the alternative products. The process time is a bit slow, you have to anticipate about 7 business days before payment is received by a vendor.

Melio is my hero!!!!
Excellent- it takes so much of the organizational hassle out of our billing and payouts.
Pros
It just takes everything off my plate. I don't have to write checks, it has free ACH transfers (for both sides), quickbooks integration, invoice cataloging, payment scheduling, and my favorite... being able to tie multiple company profiles under one admin account! As someone who owns a few [very different] small businesses with different teams, I can keep everything separate and organized, but all under the same login.
Cons
I wish there was some way to store W9's to a contractor's profile in Melio. I don't even need to be able to file 1099s via Melio (although that would be awesome) but this tiny little organizational tool would be really helpful in staying compliant since no one else (like Quickbooks) has this.

Melio = Incomparable
Before discovering Melio, I tried dozens of other products and found every single one of them lacking in some way. Either they were too expensive for what they offered or they didn't offer key features we needed. We didn't even need a lot! Just needed to be able to pay vendors and track payments. Direct deposit was a bonus! Melio provided everything and for the unbelievable cost of $0.
Pros
Vendor payments, direct deposit, and account reports and the super low price.
Cons
I wasn't able to make payments to my social media manager in Jamaica. That is the only thing I've been unable to do.

Melio saved us in a crunch and we've stayed for years!
It can be hard to find a trustworthy site to send money but we always felt safe with Melio and they have great support to help at any time. Their rules and timing for sending money are simple so once you read those, everything is straightforward and you know exactly when your money will arrive / vice versa.
Pros
We needed to make a payment fast and were having some issues with our bank which required an in person appointment. Finding Melio saved the day and we were able to process the payment quickly, safely, and very conveniently. The cost to use a credit card is the standard 2.9% fee which is invaluable when you want to leverage credit but are in a space where many companies only accept wire transfers.
Cons
I had a payment or two rejected before I knew that you could only select the "I have already received the goods" for my industry but other than that, I had a perfect experience with Melio.

Melio makes it easy to send payments (and get paid in full)
Program does what we need it to do, and sends money into our bank account. Wish it would be able to name the payments so that our bank account can tie the invoice to the transaction name though.
