The PCB layout editor features interactive push-and-shove editing with walkaround and length-priority routing, a shape-based autorouter, real-time DRC, high-speed signal design tools including differential pairs and length matching, 3D preview with STEP export, and a native XML project format compatible with version control systems. The schematic editor supports multi-sheet and hierarchical designs, electrical rule check, Digital SPICE Simulator, and cross-selection with PCB layout.
DipTrace includes a database-powered component search with Mouser supplier integration, SnapEDA integration with access to over 10 million parts, Batch Assembly Tracking in the interactive HTML BOM, assembly variants, IPC-7351 pattern generator, PCB calculator, planar inductors, via stitching and shielding, panelizing with V-score and tab routing, and a plugin system supporting any programming language.
Import is supported from Altium, KiCad, Eagle, OrCAD, EasyEDA Pro, Pulsonix, PADS, ODB++, P-CAD, and Sprint Layout. Export includes Gerber, Gerber X2, ODB++, IPC-2581, DXF, STEP, PDF, and all major netlist formats.
DipTrace is available under a perpetual license — purchased once with no subscription fees. Five editions are offered based on pin count and signal layer limits, from Starter ($75) to Full unlimited ($995). All 5.x updates included. A free 30-day full-featured trial is available.

> **Pros**: What I liked most about DipTrace is how approachable and practical it feels for real PCB work. The interface is much easier to understand than many other EDA tools, and the workflow from schematic to PCB layout feels smooth and efficient. For an independent hardware developer working on small production audio electronics, that matters a lot because it reduces design friction and lets me focus more on the circuit itself rather than fighting the software.

I also like that DipTrace feels lightweight yet capable enough for serious work. It is fast to learn, comfortable to use, and well-suited for creating clean PCB layouts for analog and mixed-signal projects.

> **Cons**: One limitation I noticed is that some advanced workflows and library management tasks are not as widely documented online as they are for a few larger EDA platforms, so new users may sometimes need a bit more trial and error when working with custom parts or refining their workflow.
