Phenomenal Platform That Meets All Our Needs
I have been using SS for over 5 years now. It's very versatile. I do everything from inventory management, CRM, billing, service ticketing, and more.
Pros
Customizability. We run most of our business directly through Smartsheet.
Cons
Recent changes to user subscriptions. The recent change in how SS determines who is a "member" has resulted in a dramatic increase to our annual subscription cost.

A workforce product that is suitable for most organizations
Their sales team have become more aggressive over the years. While the product has worked well after the initial implementation, we still have gripes with their support team from time to time.
Pros
The user interface is well designed to give our users an easy learning curve. It did not take our users long to figure out how to navigate within the system and we received positive feedbacks. It's also easy to customize each user's dashboards so that they can have a tailored look.
Cons
The overall implementation took much longer than expected. We were sold a product that was supposedly easy to configure and implement, but instead got one with many technical issues during implementation. Their support was not all that helpful, and we ended up paying extra to have a third party to help us with the implementation.

Fast & efficient. Competitively priced.
We implemented smartsheet almost 2 years ago & haven't found any reason to change to any other project management software. I recommend smartsheet to my colleges because it's reasonably priced, faster & more efficient then thee software we were using prior to Smartsheet.
Pros
Switching to this project management software was simply painless! Easily coverts workflow request forms & workflow audimations. Best feature was probably the free trial. By the time our free trial ended we had really become familiar with the software & had really started to depend on it. So purchasing the software was a no-brainer.
Cons
The thing that I am most concerned about is the lack of security built into this software. I also found that after signing up for the free trial I received a lot of spam emails from smartsheet. I didn't want to block them because I was very interested in purchasing the product.

I found Smartsheet to have great features that excel didn't have. It took excel a bit further as a software, and has great functions that I use all the time.
Cons
Using formulas is definitely not an advanced feature of Smartsheet. It is mostly trying to have the organizational aspect, without the technical formulas.

Best spreadsheet AND project management tool there is
As the lead program manager for an org of 100 people working across 12 projects, integrating Smartsheet was the smartest choice I made while running the programs. I was able to create dozens of sheets that all rolled up to about 15 key sheets with a key project dashboard per project and a exec level reporting dashboards. I found Smartsheet incredibly easy to use and honestly wish I could have everyone I know use the tool.

Simple project management software suitable for beginners
Easy to use and helps to keep track of projects and plan. Enabled me to get the team using a central project management facility.
Pros
Ease of use. My direct colleagues are not IT-savvy, do not come from project management or analytical backgrounds. Some can't even use Excel. Smartsheet is simple to use and I have been able to create help and tutorial videos that have enabled both them and other users across the organization to get started with the software.

I would like it to have more simple views like Trello as this would enable me to "sell" it more easily to those who are not used to computer-based work.

Smartsheet has been a helpful and useful tool for organization and task/project management. being able to see/assign individuals natively and make sure people are being notified and updating tasks has helped for visibility of project status and employee wellbeing.
Pros
A powerful platform with excellent organizational features. I particularly like the ability to create timelines and easily switch between task and Gantt views. creating reports using filters and specific criteria is super helpful in seeing what employees are spending their time on and for getting prompt feedback about projects.
Cons
I wish I could sort by more than 3 criteria. Some reports I've made need one or two more levels of sorting or filtering than are available to really focus on what the report needs to tell me.

No frills but high power
We really enjoy using smartsheet because it makes things simple for us. We like that we have a central place for tasks/projects, can easily assign them across our team, and can go back and see how those tasks/projects went. It's better than working out of multiple spreadsheets and can tie together different aspect of our business. You can get more out of it if you put the time in to build company specific modules and then update said modules as needed. For the price, it's hard to beat!

I would not say we have any high cons per say, but if you require more complicated or intricate uses from a task/project management software, you'd be better suited looking at more expensive or higher frills programs.

With Smartsheet, we were able to find a correct mechanism for scheduling, follow-up and documentation. It has enhanced our ability to prepare comprehensive reports and dashboards, and has also improved the management of communication with colleagues and clients effectively.

I loved Smartsheet with its many collaborative features and functions that enable us to gain knowledge and maintain continuity of support. I always find it easy to achieve continuous follow-up and record updates in real time. I loved the ease of creating main and sub-tables and sharing them with colleagues to add more tasks. The interface is amazing, the AI features for generating formulas are great, the approval and documentation management is smooth and enhances transparency. Smartsheet dashboards are very advanced, I loved the ease of customization and linking them to multiple data sources to display metrics in an organized manner.
Cons
Notifications may be interrupted sometimes, and appear all at once. It is not a problem, but it may delay the start of some necessary procedures.

Very useful project management tool for Architects
I use it regularly and find it very helpful for project management as an architect. Highly recommend.
Pros
Smartsheet is a wonderful tool for me. I use it to create tasks list broken down by project schedule and then can notify key team members about those tasks. They can update whether or not it's been finished so I can keep track of what's been done. I utilize their Gantt charts also to produce project timelines for clients - and in particular clients with whom I have multiple projects, and they can see them all in one place by creating a widget that shows all ongoing timelines in comparison. Very useful.
Cons
I think there is a learning curve to it that can be a bit challenging. And finding the time to access learning resources to get up to speed is difficult at times. I'm not sure there's a good answer to that issue - it is what it is.

I love how you are able to completely customize solutions for your process/problem. If you need an excel spreadsheet with cross functional tools embedded, Smartsheet can do it. If you are simply looking to send out a form and gather some info, Smartsheet can it AND help you visualize it. There are endless use cases where the flexibility of Smartsheet has played a vital role in our project success.

They are slower to roll out very impactful changes brough forward by the community and I feel they have not captialized on bringing some pivot table like features from Excel into the Sheet Summary area of Smartsheet Sheets.

It does the basics, and my company was already using it. But I think there's so much more development they could be doing and the views and things they're investing in are not the most impactful. Overall, it's fine, but I wouldn't suggest anyone switch to this from a tool they like. It does the basics and that's it

I like that it connects with resource manager, and that I can assign people to different tasks. I also like the rules you can create. It's quite intuitive.

It feels like a glorified excel sheet, and there are things that are not great. The version history is hard / nonexistent, it doesn't auto save, you can't collaborate with someone in the document -- you have to save and refresh. You also can't track resourcing that changes over time.

Positive Experience with Smartsheet
Smartsheet exceeded my expectations. A solution was needed in my workplace to provide swift communication to our leadership team on negative feedback collected from customer survey calls. A customized Smartsheet template was created and is in full use in our organization. This provided a simple solution to our team. Prior to the implementation of the Smartsheet, we used email communications. This format caused delays, was time consuming, caused email congestion, and were difficult to address in a timely manner. With Smartsheet, our management team was able to develop default questions with fillable blank text boxes for the survey responses within the product. The text boxes also had ample space for all word characters needed. It also had a flagging symbol that allowed our organization to identify and escalate formal complaints to our leadership team at an eye's glance. The drop-down menu feature was utilized template with frequently used answers as weel as names of pertinent subordinate staff and their supervisors eliminating need write them out manually. The availability of these components, as well as the software's ability to transfer the data into a spreadsheet immediately after submission of the entry criteria, made the process seamless. This is clearly an excellent product. It is just what our organization needed.

Thanks to Smartsheet we can spend more time on what matters
Smartsheet marked a before and after in our software development company. Before its implementation, middle managers used to waste a lot of time performing routine tasks and operational activities of low value to the company.

I cannot envision conducting my business without Smartsheet. It's a tool I highly endorse for any business owner. As I approach two years of self-employment with plans for expansion, Smartsheet remains an integral part of my operations.
Pros
Smartsheet offers a wide range of templates that cater to various business needs. It has improved my organizational skills, helped me meet important deadlines, and kept me accountable for tasks that need follow-up. Moreover, it allows me to work even when I'm unable to connect to the private Wi-Fi required by some systems. With Smartsheet, I can access all the information I need without relying on my EHR. It also provides the flexibility to work remotely, whether from a coffee shop or outside on my PC.
Cons
Configuring Smartsheet to leverage its full potential can be challenging, and I recognize that I'm not using it to its fullest. I would prefer more detailed explanations over numerous YouTube videos on how to utilize each template. An in-built Smartsheet guide for maximizing integrations would be helpful, avoiding the need for external instructions. While short videos may highlight features, they often fail to show effective integration. The cost of attending the conference is exorbitant. Many colleagues who considered attending were deterred by the conference fees alone, not to mention additional expenses for flights and stay. As someone who frequents conferences, I find the cost prohibitive without the incentive of college credits or certification, particularly for individuals not sponsored by corporations.

Great tool but remember to save your work (no auto-save)!
Pros
Fairly intuitive UI and UX. I was brand new to Smartsheet in September 2023 when I joined a department that heavily utilized the tool. I took some of the self-paced trainings (videos) but found that if you are just using it for the basics you can just click around and/or Google your way through the vast majority of it. Overall, I've been a use for 1+ year and like the tool.
I also like that my clients (many of whom do not have a Smartsheet license) can still utilize/access the workspaces I create.
Cons
No auto-save?! All the time I add a new row, make updates, etc. and forget to hit the little save button. And it does not save any of the work, it just disappears like I never did it! There is a little banner that pops-up after 10 mins and says something like "It's been 10 minutes since you saved your work" But often the work I'm doing doesn't take a full 10 mins.
This is so annoying and seems like a simple, standard feature. I sincerely hope it's on their road-map as Google Docs has had this capability for years.

Overall experience with Smartsheet has been great. I have been using it since 2020 for my project tracking, daily tasks, monitor reports and so many other things and it provides a great visibility to me, my team and leadership on where we are on our projects with their timelines.

Love the new slick version of Smartsheet which allows me to cross function and collaborate with multiple users from different teams and also helps me set up a level-based permissions to access the sheets which I think is a great help for my business needs.

Reasonably Smart Sheets
Positive on the whole, almost entirely down to the functionality of the product. I've self-taught and used forums/Youtube to learn how to do more complex builds, and managed to create a really effective ecosystem of sheets, reports and dashboards with no training. Value seems ok, ultimately you might find your bill gets quite hot if onboarding more and more users.
Pros
Modular, customisable, fairly rapidly evolving platform. Familiar UI with many common features to Excel / MS products, so very easy to pick up and eventually master. Smartsheet is a bit lego-ish in that you can build more or less anything you want with a mid-level subscription.
The user-populated forums are a really good resource, you'll find plenty of potential and actual answers by simply searching for what you're trying to achieve/fix.
Free users able to collaborate with sheets/reports/dashboards without an account (although not without headaches - see below), which allows for effective collaboration on projects.

Customer support is hit and (mainly) miss. Getting timely answers to account questions is not a reliable process and effective account management seems to be a service Smartsheet would rather upsell than provide as a standard offering.
Some basic functionality is missing, as verified by a few searches on user forums. That said, Smartsheet do roll out updates fairly regularly which can hit the spot, depending on what you're hoping for.
Being able to share with non-account holder colleagues as 'free users' has been great, albeit the onboarding process can be clunky and confusion prevails with Smartsheet encouraging all new users to request a paid account through the main admin, or creating a free trial account, which then needs downsizing to a 'free user'. This part could be much, much more transparent.
Data security. Smartsheet is particularly shifty about where it stores data, and we never managed to get assurances that all our data could or would be stored in the EU, which is a fundamental requirement.

Best PM Tool Available
I used this a few years ago as a PM and I wish that I could have it at my current role. I have used many different tools, some good and some awful, but if I had 1 choice, it would be Smartsheets.
Pros
This is the best tool I have used as a Project Manager. There are so many features that I could write about, but most importantly you will not need additional tools/software to track projects. The ability to track a project, update timelimes based on missed deadlines, share with a customer and have a live document is so important for a successful project.
Cons
It is expensive. There is also a learning curve. I would say for beginner level use and just navigating around, it is very user friendly. But like Excel, there are so many things it is capable of and it takes time to figure them out.

A super useful tool for managing projects in any profession!
Using Smartsheet was an excellent way to think through the various tasks of a project, set deadlines / goals, and loop in teammates to better collaborate on the projects. Overall I really enjoy the program.
Pros
The thing I liked the most about Smarsheet was how easily customizable and rich in options projects and the use of the program was.
Cons
Diving into Smartsheet can be slightly daunting at first since there are many layers of options and ways to go about managing a project or scheduling out workflow.

Smartsheet - Great interactive tool
Very good overall experience. Great tool to use to keep up to date in the moment for many people. Keep tracks of pictures, notes, deadlines and much more.
Pros

Cons
Filtering for specific items in the list has to be set up by an admin. Ideally filters can be done easier without having up adjust the sheet. However, once it’s set up it works well. Filtering is done in one list (not the same as excel spreadsheet) harder to find what you want to filter

Easy to use Excel alternative
Overall, I enjoy using Smartsheet and it has replaced my use of Excel in most instances.
Pros
I love the project planning features of Smartsheet and using it as an alternative to Excel to track and monitor simple data sets, especially when these need to be shared with multiple people.
Cons
Despite having many of the features of Excel, it does not have capabilities such as tabs or pivot tables within a single document. You often have to stitch multiple documents together to manipulate data which can be tricky and a hassle. I would also like it to integrate better with other products.

Solid Application and much better than Excel
I worked with a few other applications like Quip, Airtable, and excel, but Smarsheets has a comprehensive capability to address several use cases. I used to automate invoice approval, project intakes, and project management, and they have reduced resourcing and effort.
Pros
It's feature-rich, especially with the automation capabilities that are baked in.
Cons
As with all software, there is a learning curve, but once you get over that, it is a solid application that can solve many types of projects and processes.

The Good Outweighs the Bad
The real time conversations and collaboration is a game changer. However, the overall use of forms in addition to switching from PC to mobile is not ideal.
Pros
Great for data entry and joint documents. Platform allows people to collarborate in real time, with email notification to notify you of any comments or tags.
Cons
Pretty boring platform, I find the form functions are not user friendly for mobile users. And I do find it to glitch out quite a bit or go down.

Awesomely reliable system
I would recommend Smartsheet because it has more productivity than other apps. I love the collaboration in between teams and our ability to produce reporting consistently.
Pros
It integrates with other tools easily and the mobile app is accessible on the go. I appreciate its versatility in project management and the workflow automation capabilities.
Cons
Reports and dashboards can be a bit of a challenge to set up, but once you get the hang of it becomes easy to work with.
