A useful - and usable - alternative to expensive
Overall this has been a good product for my accounting practice. I use it personally for my own firm and for many of my monthly bookkeeping clients as a method to capture receipts in the moment.
Pros
Designed for accountants and their clients, allows for easy collaboration and receipt capture. Does a much better job than QBO receipt capture and does not restrict the source email for forwarded emailed receipts, making it much more usable and efficient.
Cons
The refusal to allow us to use American formatted dates is a constant and significant irritant. It would be so simple to correct this that it is extremely annoying that they won't do it.
Receipt matching to existing QBO transactions is inconsistent and only looks back 3 months so it is not ideal for clean up projects.
Pricing structure isn't very flexible.

Above average, it is easy to use and does the job and makes the process efficient
Pros
It makes data entry very easy and efficient through machine learning, and that it syncs with accounting software
Cons

Time saver app for busy owners
Great, definitely a time saver especially with my restaurant schedule where I need to cover the kitchen and manage.
Pros
As I constantly need to send invoices of purchases to my accountant after I buy groceries for my restaurant, I find Dext super practical for its instant feature to send them immediately, it makes me save so much time with a single picture!
Cons
The only thing is that sometimes it might not recognize well the images when I take a picture (the OCR) so you may need to correct the information manually after uploading.

Review For Dext Prepare
Overall, Dext Prepare has been an invaluable tool for optimizing our financial workflows and enhancing productivity.
Pros
The autopublishing feature, combined with the streamlined supplier rules, has made our dexting process significantly easier and more efficient. The automation reduces manual entry errors and saves us valuable time, allowaing us to focus on more strategic tasks.
Cons

Useful tool but under delivers
Customer service is lacking. It is hard to move away from a product though once it has been integrated. So we continue with it despite these major issues.
Pros
Easier for clients to use for scanning in their receipts and invoices rather than into QuickBooks directly as the third degree of separation allows for us to ensure they do not accidentally post anything to the books.
Cons
There are a lot of features we were promised that do not work at all. Including the invoice fetch. It is totally unusable for every single one of our clients, and customer service never seemed to care about the fact we are paying for a service they advertise yet cannot deliver.

Deceitful billing and poor customer service
I will never use this software again nor recommend it to others simply because the way their sales and customer service teams have handled things. I was signed up for an “annual” commitment unknowingly. I’ve been emailing support for almost 2 months to close the account due to their unethical practices and have gotten nowhere.
Pros

Best in class
We use dext to automatically gather invoices and extract the key data from them. We manually review, make any adjustments and then export and upload to 2 x different systems. Saves so much time
Pros
The software automatically reads invoices and extracts the key data to be imported into your accounting or ERP system. This saves us countless hours of manual data entry and ensures consistent entries
Cons

Great data extraction software for clients willing to pay premium for a premium product
Excellent premium software for data extraction
Pros
The data extraction worked great and the ability to also automatically mark payments to bills is also a timesaver. The ability to post multicurrency bills is a great feature.

A must-have product for your book management
Receipt bank is a great tool for business owners and accountants. It archives the supports on the cloud. Therefore, when it comes to an audit, the support could be easily pulled.
Pros
Receipt Bank is easy to track bills and receipts and useful to publish into accounting software. Also, Receipt Bank could assign different roles among users, which saves time for review and approval of reimbursable expenses. Last but not least, it keeps adding features like bank statement fetch, which creates efficiency for bank reconciliation.
Cons
If bills or receipts are denominated in foreign currency, the exchange rate used by Receipt Bank is different from that by Accounting Software. To have a consistent rate across the book, we have to manually refresh the bill date to have a consistent exchange rate.

Ease of inputting receipts into accounting software.
Pros
I can auto-forward bills and invoices I receive via email to Receipt Bank, the ones which are consistent, I can even auto-publish to my accounting software (XERO)
Cons
I'm in Canada and have a few bills I pay in US funds. Occasionally a receipt will spontaneously switch currencies for no apparent reason.

Waste of Money
Ended up wasting more time then it was worth.
Not cheap either.
Pros
Photo recognition is very accurate and customer service is helpful and existant.
Cons
Where do i start. The system is very clunky, looks great from the outside but there are better solutions out there especially for the price. Upload a reciept and approve it. Then wait 24 hours for it to enter your accounting software. Nightmare when your trying to reconcile.
Doesnt link with QB Projects so have to go into each reciept in QB and add project. This defeats the whole purpose of the app. Oh and you have to wait for it to push to QB.

Pros
you can use it for free and very easy to use when extracting data that you require and it is a very good fit small businesses and you can do your work at home on your fone, laptop through your email and integrate when you are at work

Saves me so much time and keeps me on top of my bookkeeping
Pros
Fast, efficient, and I am always on top of my bookkeeping.
I scan receipts with the iOS Dropbox app and place them in a shared folder. The next day my receipts have been data-mined, and are ready for me to double check before pushing them to my FreeAgent account.
This process shaves hours off my monthly bookkeeping.
Cons

So easy and versatile!
Accountability and record keeping is greatly improved!
Pros
My company started using this to keep us in compliance - and keep our accountant happy.
IT IS AWESOME! There are so many ways to upload receipts - it makes this extra step in our work day so much easier. You can scan and upload the receipt via their website. You can send it to a personalized email address to upload the receipt, you can use their app... it is fantastic. And our accountant is super happy with the results!
Cons
I can honestly say there isn't anything bad about this program. It stinks we have to take the extra time to be more diligent about our receipts, but the program really helps ease that hassle.

Finally accounts are paperless
Pros
This app saves so much time and messing about with recipes and invoices when you are doing accounts. It is very easy to use with the iPhone app, online and via email. Whenever I buy something I can just take a photo of the receipt in the app upload it and forget about it. I can also email receipts for online purchases directly to my receipt bank account.
The system then picks out all the information and passes to my accounts software (Xero) I don't have to worry about loosing receipts or searching for emailed invoices. It saves me loads of time and avoid boxes of receipts at the end of the year.
Cons
I don't really have any downsides to this product does what it says on the tin easy to use and reliable.

Good software but could be cheaper for smaller practices
My practice used to receive paperwork by various channels and we were always chasing clients. This has made it easier for the client to submit paperwork, though there is still definitely some chasing! Overall, a good product.
Pros
This software has streamlined the ways clients supply paperwork to my practice. Clients are generally happy with using it and it is very intuitive.
Cons
The pricing structure doesn't differentiate between different sizes of practice except for single users so the savings scale massively for larger companies.
Clients can be confused about submitting multiple invoices by email.

Dext is perfect for small startups
To be perfectly honest, it was 'fair' at best, we had a good run but outgrew the cost which became very exorbitant after the last company buyout
Really poor customer support options, don't expect a reply for up to a week. Not good when you have to pay your workers and nothing functioning.
Pros
Dext has a potentially daunting array of choice at first setup, the beauty is you can just leave sit what you do not need until you need it. Our staff used the software with ease and were able to confirm 90% of the time, to the required use of the software making it less time consuming to chase receipts. It is simple to use and allows multiple levels of authorisation. Scales slightly to cost for small business. They do offer discounts to NFP/RC organisations. Compliant with ATO tax reporting requirements. Fully customisable categories table.
Cons
Technical support were good, but not great, often the replies were cryptic or were minimalist, often resulting in confusion from them or us. Not a solution once you go over the affordable tier of 80 employees, there are then much better solutions out there. Some limitations in the software framework, but nothing crippling. No training option for staff, assumed you will do that.

My favour piece of software
Love it. It’s so good that we were offered another provider as part of an existing subscription but I don’t want to change. I’d rather pay Dext and keep using it.
Pros
This software is amazing. We are a wholesaler with loads of monthly invoices from suppliers and out to customers. Dext strips all the information out in seconds, is so accurate and then can get seamlessly transferred to Sage. Considering the time this software saves us, the price is brilliant too. I already recommend this software to anyone I think would benefit.

Highly useful management platform for multiple companies
Big process improvement! When I started, we had multiple individual accounts set up instead of a single account housing each client entity, so once we took that consolidation step, everything fell into place & the workflow started to churn without incident. Few to no issues with receiving documents from outside the org, the OCR is fairly capable, and the platform learns quickly & suggests supplier rules to set for item types with regular throughput.
Pros
It works exactly as advertised & is user-friendly enough that setup is simple & intuitive. There is a wide array of features on this platform, but everything is labeled & explained well, so while there is introductory training & ongoing self-support material, you often don't need it once you get going because the platform largely guides you toward whatever it is you want to do (which makes training new staff fairly easy).
Cons
The integrations can occasionally be a bit wonky--less so the accounting software integrations than vendors & bank accounts. I've had a few issues with bank accounts coming regularly decoupled, or with vendor accounts not connecting despite the credentials being validated. The lists for each integration option are also limited, so if you're using a smaller community bank or an industry-specific vendor, you may just be out of luck.

Cons
Customer service is terrible and the businesses practices are appalling. Tried to cancel my subscription. I was told I didn't give 30 days notice so I was on the hook for another year. Very Difficult To Cancel Your Subscription
Pros
Unfortunately, my experience with canceling my Dext subscription has over shadowed any good feelings that I had about this company and program. The owner of the subscription should have full control of canceling the membership.
Cons
Canceling your subscription with Dext is nearly impossible. You can't cancel from your own account login. You have to reach out to your account manager and make an appointment. Appointment times are 3 weeks out. Once you do talk to them, you discover that there is a 30 day notice policy to cancel which is also not posted on your account. There are not pro-rated refunds of subscription fees. In my opinion this is very unprofessional on their part. I should have a way to cancel my subscription from my end.

Streamlining Accounting Processes: A Review of High-Cost Software for Improved Client and...
Our overall experience has gone well with DEXT, the only downside it the price hike.
Pros
The process is the strongest aspect of Dext. The process is as followed, if DEXT is unable to retrieve all the data it marks it for review. Dext also has features like auto publishing, supplier rules and bank feed as well e-invoicing. With auto publishing you can have documents/invoices automatically published to Xero and ready for reconciliation. Supplier rules also help with have the invoices automatically allocated to the correct supplier. Dext can also connect directly to your supplier they are bringing on a lot of support which can be beneficial to a lot of practices to streamline and increased their performance. Have bank fetch can also help with company tax returns and not having to contact your client to get bank statements all the time as you will have access to this in Dext. Dext have 3 different products: Prepare Commerce and precision. We are currently using DEXT prepare.
Cons
The pricing is a big factor. Also, for the price DEXT should offer more, currently they have split their product into 3 categories, DEXT precision features should be a part of their prepare features. Recently they also increased their pricing significantly. Their only advantage is that there is no software at its calibre. I would say another factor is ensuring your client use Dext as some from the older generations can struggle.

The Smart Way to Manage Your Accounting: Dext Prepare Review
As one of the sales and marketing staff. I used to manually enter data, manage bank statements, receipts, and invoices, and transfer data to my accounting firm before Dext Prepare. However, I am now able to automate and streamline the entire pre-accounting procedure with Dext Prepare, allowing me more time for higher-value tasks and business development.Eliminating mistakes and oversights made by hand is one of the most significant issues that Dext Prepare has solved for me. The software's optical character recognition (OCR) AI technology, which is 99 percent accurate, ensures that all of my data is current and accurate. While processing data, I am also able to abide by the Data Protection Regulation (RGPD), giving me peace of mind that my financial information is safe.Dext Prepare has provided me with an exceptional overall experience. I've been able to save money, time, and effort while keeping things simple for my accountant thanks to the software's ease of use and effectiveness.
Pros
Company's finances has been completely transformed by Dext Prepare. I don't have to spend countless hours manually entering data to keep track of my finances because of its powerful automation and real-time monitoring features. Because the software's text recognition algorithm is so precise, it was simple for me to extract all of the essential information from my bank statements, invoices, and receipts.Dext Prepare's ability to integrate with my existing accounting ecosystem, which enables me to transfer data with a few easy clicks, is yet another great feature. The software's user interface is also very easy to understand and use, making it accessible to anyone, even to people who don't know much about technology. In general, managing finances with Dext Prepare has saved me a significant amount of time and effort. It is essential for any proprietor of a business who wishes to streamline their accounting procedures and concentrate on expanding their enterprise. Anyone looking for a pre-accounting solution that is both effective and user-friendly should look no further than Dext Prepare.
Cons
Dext Prepare is a great way to automate and streamline the pre-accounting process, but i say it lacks some features that other accounting software solutions have. Nevertheless, it is essential to keep in mind that Dext Prepare was developed solely for the purpose of pre-accounting and is not intended to take the place of a full-featured accounting system. The cost of Dext Prepare, which may be prohibitive for individuals or small businesses depending on their requirements and financial resources, is another potential drawback. However, the time-saving advantages of the software may eventually offset the cost for some businesses. In conclusion, despite the fact that Dext Prepare may not have all of the features of other accounting software solutions and may be pricey for some users, the pre-accounting automation and time savings it provides are still significant. As a whole, it's a wise investment for businesses that want to make their accounting procedures more efficient.

Dext doesn’t tell the truth - won’t upgrade my lower level subscription. They expect me to pay...
I wasn’t asking for anything more than what the average person would receive for their price. Why offer a terrible product that you don’t even advertise, that has almost the identical name to the next level product? I feel utterly duped.
Pros
I feel so disheartened by Dext & Google Play! They offered me a discount (without refunding my original purchase), yet they didn’t offer to only charge the difference between what I’d already paid and the next subscription level. WHY???
Cons
I mistakenly subscribed to Dext’s “Business Plan” through the Dext app. I couldn’t figure out why it didn’t function like it was supposed to. Once I figured out that it was called “Business” and not “Business Plus” I realized I must have subscribed to something different…I didn’t know they offered anything different from their website.
I contacted Dext right away and told them I want to upgrade (or refund to upgrade on my own). They told me Google Play can refund this. I communicated with Google Play. They said, “We can’t do this, only the app developer can. I asked, “How do I communicate with the app developer?” They gave me the same email address that I previously used to communicate with Dext. I went back and forth many times (over the course of a month) communicating with Google Play and Dext; both telling me the other can help me.
In the end, Dext offered to cancel my current subscription (but I wouldn’t get a refund) and then they’d give me 20% off a new subscription. Dext is EXPENSIVE and now I have to pay double, when I asked to be upgraded (or refunded) right after I bought it. WHO is lying to me? In the end, Dext simply closed the case on me instead of offering me the upgraded subscription for the price difference. UNBELIEVABLE!
Dext told me that I hadn’t heard of this lower level subscription because they got rid of it as it wasn’t popular, but that Google Play kept it.

Forget the rest Receipt Bank is the best! Save time and gather more data!
Pros
I have been using Receipt Bank alongside Xero for at least 5 years now and I have tried the alternatives but for me RB is the best! It is easy, accurate and intelligent. Its super simple app alongside the emailing in, drag & drop, dropbox link etc makes adding receipts and bills easy so you are more likely to capture more items. The OCR works well and learns (it is however worth keeping an aye on things as sometimes it can go awry!). The supplier rules work well, it has a great user interface and is simple to navigate. I know that they do line by line splits on some supplier invoices and I would like to see that get more accessible. Overall Receipt Bank saves so much time and I think that they are still developing more and more features. I have had clients that hate it and there are a few nuances that you should pay attention to at the start but once you have it works brilliantly!! I have tried Datamolino, Autoentry and Xero direct for the day to day receipts & invoices but have always come back to Receipt Bank.
Customer support has always been good, friendly and relatively speedy. I use Receipt Bank with all my clients - we insist upon it!
Cons
I would probably say the thing that comes up over again is the price (I argue that rather pay them that than me for data entry!) but maybe if there was a lower starting price? I would love to see a Bill to client button and the option to break an invoice into lines as a standard option.
