Great solution for small nonprofits
Pros
DonorSnap is easy to use. My favorite feature is the form builder; the forms integrate nicely with our website and are a great solution for event registration forms that import the data directly into the CRM. I've used both DonorSnap and Saleforce for registration and hands down DonorSnap is far more reliable, simpler, and offers better customization for our needs vs Salesforce. It's also far easier to use both as the administrator and as an end user. I've never had a DonorSnap form fail me. I can't say the same for Salesforce.
We use DonorSnap for tracking donors, volunteers, and participants in our programs.
DonorSnap keeps their software updated and is very good about offering training and notifications of any server maintenance that may disrupt use (it never does).
Cons
The report features are very robust but not always intuitive to set up and run. Fortunately if you get stuck, DonorSnap's support team is fabulous and will help you to figure it out.

A great product- don't hesitate!
We have been using DonorSnap since 2017 for 2 separate community foundations and therefore have 2 separate DonorSnap accounts. The transition from our excel spreadsheets to DonorSnap was very smooth. One of the things I love most about DonorSnap is the responsiveness of the team. Whenever I have a question or need technical assistance, I get a response within the day- usually within a few hours. That is something I really value and appreciate.
Pros
It's a cost effective donor management system that is easy to use. DonorSnap has been a fantastic partner, always responsive and adding new features that are useful. The best feature for us is the integration with online donations. This has made our processes more efficient and streamlined.
Cons
The only downfall of DonorSnap is that it is one of many tools we use in our backoffce. We use a separate Grant Management Tool and separate Budgeting tool. This is actually not a con of DonorSnap itself, as DonorSnap does not promise those products. There is really nothing specific to DonorSnap platform that I would say I have found problematic. If anything, we are not using all the functionality that DonorSnap provides and that is due to not being able to dedicate the time- we are a very small staff with limited capacity.

Great basics, but communucation tools lacking or are too generic
Sales, data transfer, and workshops have been good. I feel like the staff does its best to fully answer questions and solve problems. But with the overall limitations of the communications functions, there's only so much they can do.
Pros
The client database is straightforward and easy to use. The fields are intuitive and you can adapt or add per your own needs. Screen layout when searching can be tough because of long rows but pulling up individual contacts is easy. I love that you can copy data right from the viewing screen without having to open the editable contact.
The help features are user friendly and usually address the most common problems. I like that there are videos as well as written materials on various topics.
Cons
The communication tools are sorely lacking. Email, letters, and forms are way too basic and challenging to edit. There does not seem to be a feature allowing you to change line spacing within a form or in the Automated Task Manager. In addition, I had to keep canceling the project and restarting because after one attempt to edit an ATM task, the system won't let you make additional edits. You have to start over. The emails come out looking like you emailed directly from your email provider. You are limited to one image insert, they are hard to edit, and you cannot add a form directly into the email. I have yet to send out an email from DonorSnap because it looks so pedestrian and ... boring. We are still using MailChimp for its visual features, which of course defeats the purpose. The forms are "okay" but come out looking like a child made them. Totally lackluster, but functional. I'll be honest: I am embarrassed to send out communications and put the forms on our website. If we leave DonorSnap for another product, it will because of the generic communication tools.
The query tools used in creating tasks are not intuitive. If it weren't for the help videos I would never be able to implement these.
Reasons for Choosing DonorSnap
Needed more management functionality and communication tools.Reasons for Switching to DonorSnap
Low monthly cost and lack of donor mining tools that we didn't need.Response from DonorSnap
Hi Cass,
Thank you for your review. We are always working on ways to improve DonorSnap and appreciate your feedback.
We understand that dedicated email tools like MailChimp have polished template builders, and for that reason we provide an integration with Constant Contact for organizations needing those services. The DonorSnap email tools are aimed at providing easy access to mass emailing and automation for all organizations. With some html experience or a third party html email template builder, you can build the same types of emails in DonorSnap. In the future we hope to add similar template builders as well.
For more specific help with your emails and forms, please contact us at [email protected]. We will show you how to edit your emails, adjust line spacing, add multiple images, and insert links to your forms directly in your emails. If you need other types of customization in your forms, please let us know what you're looking for and we'll be happy to help.

Thrilled with Donorsnap
I'm thrilled with Donorsnap and it's impact it had on the organization and the bottom line of my school.
Pros
Donorsnap's intuitiveness and customer support are fantastic!
My administrative team members were all able to quickly adjust to and be comfortable using this great software.
Cons
Some unique, minor things my organization does in terms of organaizing their data was not able to be dealt with by the "press of a button", but Mark and his team were willing and able to help me create a workaround.

It works well for a nonprofit of our size.
Pros
The transition and mapping from our previous database to DonorSnap was great and almost seamless. To be able to process donations from GoEmerchant to donorSnap is easy. This gives us an easy way to track our donations using our own donation type names and accounting numbers. To be able to look at historical donations for the last few years that we had from our records is priceless. Setting up the contacts using our own personalized information was easy.

DonorSnap @ a Small Nonprofit
We use DonorSnap to track our donors and our volunteers. We generate the monthly reports for the board with this tool and can track longevity, anniversaries, prospects and moves management. It serves us well.
Pros
I enjoy the customizable dashboard that DonorSnap provides. The information I need the most is always available as soon as I login. When I was a brand new user, and even now - the library of trainings comes in very handy and is a great complement to the weekly live trainings. I LOVED the DS app for my phone.
Cons
The DS app is not currently working on my iphone and I truly hope it will be upgraded. Having my donor information and the ability to make notes was the absolute best. It's frustrating not to have access to the information.

Great Product
We are able to keep everything, donors, contacts, donations, correspondence organized, and create reports when needed. Tech support is knowledgeable and always there when needed. Being able to adjust and manipulate the layout and add or take away what works for the organization is wonderful, it's like building your own personal database, and you can't beat the price.
Pros
Excellent for keeping track of donations, contact information, and correspondence with donors. It is user-friendly for the most part, but easy access to the instructional videos really helps when needed.
Cons
It would be nice to be able to contact support by phone, but all in all the support with DonorSnap is very helpful and responds to inquiries very quickly via email. I would really love it if the database was able to integrate with PayPal so I wouldn't have to enter each donation individually, or worry that another user might miss a donation entry or detail. Reports could be a little more user-friendly to create.
Response from DonorSnap
Hi Teresa,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback! We are happy to hear you are enjoying DonorSnap and finding it user friendly. Dedicated to DonorSnap
Love it, very happy with it.
Pros
There are so many things about DonorSnap to applaud. I love how we are able to keep track of every donation and I love all of the fund development analysis reports that are available. The customizable reports has been essential for me to compile all kinds of data, from volunteer hours to fundraising data and even our newsletter list.
Cons
The only issue I have sometimes is with the acknowledgement letters. I format multiple letters for this system, and for some reason sometimes getting the formatting right is a struggle because I will end up with a logo on the 2nd page or a page gets cut off. I have always been able to mess with the word document and fix it, but sometimes I don't know exactly why it is doing what it does and just have to try different things.

Two years in ...
We are a small non profit raising funds for St. Vincent's School for disabled children in Haiti and a medical clinic that serves their needs and those of the community in Port au Prince. Before DonorSnap, our records were very unorganized, and our record keeping not 100% accurate. We needed a program that was user friendly, affordable and could get our affairs in order so that we could better research our donors, increase our donor base and raise more money. That has happened since we started using DonorSnap. When I have had an issue I couldn't resolve myself, customer service has always been responsive and helpful. I have enjoyed learning new features, customizing reports and being able to provide our Board with the information they need for budgeting and fundraising. Because our acknowledgement system is now streamlined, with annual contribution reports, I believe our fundraising has been more successful even in these challenging times. I would highly recommend this software to anyone looking to increase their fundraising capabilities.
Pros
The software is very versatile, user friendly and intuitive even for someone with very little experience managing a donor database. We love the different reports that help you analyze appeals, trends, donor activity, etc. Adding new donations or information about a donor is very easy. The training webinars are an invaluable resource. I have referred to them countless times when I need help with queries and management issues. The interface with GoEmerchant is seem less and since we switched from PayPal, our online donations have increased and our acknowledgement process is more efficient and our record keeping far more accurate.
Cons
My biggest challenge is writing queries but that is not the fault of the software but my own inexperience. I think the program is able to handle the most complicated queries on a much larger scale than we need

Donorsnap is the best for our needs, hands down
Email response times from support are super fast. Transitioning to DS from our former CRM was far easier than anticipated. The free online trainings are simple and relevant and super easy to find, as well as very helpful. If we are still in a bind on anything, we can still get one-on-one custom trainings for a small reasonable fee. The entire Donorsnap system is perfect for our small non-profit, as the learning curve was short and the migrated data intact for our thousands of donors. We couldn't be happier with the small annual fee for such a super useful and easy to use system.
Pros
Donorsnap was phenomenally easy to set up, compared to every other CRM we looked at. Donorsnap's process for transitioning from our former CRM to theirs was relatively seemless and inexpensive, compared to every other CRM we scoped out.
Cons
The monthly accounting I do with Donorsnap monthly donor data seems a little more onerous than it should be, but it still remains functional and not an excessive hassle.

Best Customer Service
I love DonorSnap - from the functionality, to the simple/customizable dashboard appearance, to the top notch support team and weekly trainings!
Pros
The software is self explanatory and easy to navigate day to day function. They customer service blows any other company out of the water! They are quick, responsive, and reliable. Having an issue? The team will make you a custom step by step video in your individual database. I thought I would need phone support but their team is SO quick and thorough via email that I feel more supported by email than I ever did with a previous database company by phone. Free weekly training are the icing on the cake for a great database system.
Cons
The process to access reports/certain information can be very time consuming until you are 100% comfortable with it. There are a LOT of steps to run a simple report. DonorSnap is a bit ore DIY than I am comfortable with, ex. building my own forms. DataMinorPlatinum still scares me after 8 months of playing with it.
Reasons for Choosing DonorSnap

Best Option for Small Non-Profits
DonorSnap helps us keep track of our donations, donor information and donation campaigns. We like that DonoSnap is continually adding functionality to the platform and the training videos are great for bringing new employees up to speed.
Pros
Simplicity, ease of use and affordability.
Cons
We are currently starting to use the email campaign integration but believe the functionality needs more work. We also tried the goEmerchant integration but that did not work for us. Suggestion is to look at Stripe integration.
Reasons for Switching to DonorSnap
We are a relatively small organization and DonorSnap had all of the features we needed at the time for a lot less than the other platforms. Even today, there is not much more we need, DonorSnap helps us keep track of what is important. This database does everything you need for a low price
We were able to centralize all of our school's donation records. We can quickly and easily generate reports of all types - no limits on customizable reports. I can allow donors and alumni to update their own contact info. I can easily mass enter gifts and do mass uploads as well. It is a great system.
Pros
I have worked with bigger and much more expensive databases at past jobs, and I always ran into problems that were unsolvable within the system - reports I needed that it couldn't generate, no ability to mass upload things, or something along those lines. Donorsnap has thought of EVERYTHING. And for such a minimal monthly price. I was recently at a fundraising professionals meeting, and someone in the forum asked what databases everyone used. A few people sheepishly said what they used, but both added "although I wouldn't recommend it. It's a pain." I was the only person in the room who proudly said "Well, I am using Donorsnap, which is really affordable and can do everything I need. I would highly recommend it to anyone." And a bunch of people jotted it down. Its hard to be happy with your donor database, but for the first time, I am. Their customer service is also great, and responds quickly to any questions. They have tons of video tutorials for every page, so you can learn how to do things when you need to handle a new process you haven't done before.
Cons
Like all software, there is a learning curve. You have to figure out how to do the things you want to do - reports, imports, eforms, etc. One time, I had to import hundreds of gifts made on another platform, and get them to match up to the right donor records already in our database. It was quite the conversation with customer service as I learned how to do this, and it wasn't something I hope to have to do often. But it was possible to do it, without manually entering each gift! Which I can't say would be true for all databases. They have built in a ton of flexibility to this database.

Easy, intuitive, superb tutorials and help provided
We have used DonorSnap for about a decade. Switching over was quick, easy, and fun. Immediately, you can plan what new fields you are going to add and edit. Improvements in the overall system are regularly made, with no extra costs. There are no fees on top of your monthly payment. It has saved tens of thousands of dollars in payroll costs, because no one has to build or maintain the overall database - it is already done for you. Of course, you have to personalize it for your organization, but it is so easy. Previous databases cost so much more, because you had to keep paying for their updates, and for each user and/or computer. And, we can't state strongly enough, how great the Support is at DonorSnap. Your questions will be answered. DonorSnap can be accessed by any device - my Mac, my iPhone, etc.
Pros
Extraordinarily easy to learn and use, even for lower skilled individuals. Provides reports appropriate to nonprofits, and easy to create and edit your own reports. Powerful search and report tools. Saves time because you are hitting the ground running, with pre-built reports and functionality, all you have to do is edit and add items to suit your own needs. Super intuitive, company is super quick to respond, if you need help.
Cons
There are no negatives to using DonorSnap.

Service, Features and Value!
Our overall experience with DonorSnap has been extremely positive. There is much to be said for choosing a smaller company- every step of the way our support has been extremely personalized. From the first discussions, through planning the transfer of information, to being trained on how to use the features to then receiving support as needed, every member of the team has been wonderful to work with. We have greatly benefited from the many features DonorSnap offers. It saves us time in many ways, and provides us with a great variety of choices with data analysis. This is true even though we have yet to explore every option. As we continue to implement more aspects, such as the emails, I am sure it will become even more valuable to us. We spent months exploring many different donor software programs, and I know we made the best choice with DonorSnap.
Pros
We appreciate the ease of creating customized reports, and also having many report templates included.
The responsive forms easily integrated into WIX and save us hours of work because we no longer have to enter the information manually when someone signs up for an event or makes a donation.
We have received very personal support at every level and there are a large number of free trainings that make it quite simple to learn new skills. The team at DonorSnap provides outstanding customer service.
The software is very intuitive to use, which makes the initial learning process much quicker. We are also appreciative of the ability to export and import Excel spreadsheets for a variety of reasons. The easy integration with Quickbooks has also been a great timesaver. DonorSnap has an extremely reasonable price for a very high quality product.
Cons
It would be very helpful for us to be able to create households, since we often have members of the same family volunteer or donate separately. It would also be nice to have a separate tab just for events. Because we do rentals, we currently split information between interactions and Notes, which can make running certain reports tied to those things challenging.

A great donor management software system at a great price
Overall, it's been a positive experience. Having been trained on other more complex systems, I do find it hard sometimes to figure out the "donor snap way". But the support team are there to answer my questions and help me figure it out. I keep learning about new things I can do with this system so I'm sure that a big part of what I haven't been able to do just yet with the system is because I just haven't taken the time to do the training needed to know how best to use it. But it does what I need it to do and it's web-based as well so I can access it anywhere anytime.
Pros
DonorSnap was the perfect solution for our small nonprofit. It helps us track our donations, stay connected to our donors, see what is happening in our organization in terms of what and when donors are connecting with us. It does all we really need it to do at a reasonable price that our small nonprofit can afford. While it hasn't been an entirely intuitive system for us to use, Donor Snap has EXCELLENT customer support with videos and training tools and real people that you can ask questions of. For us, it's been the perfect solution.
Cons
Donor Snap doesn't seem to be able to do all of the reports in the way I would like them to be done- but that also could just be that I haven't done all the training I need to in order to best know how to use this product. Whenever I have needed something, a donor support specialist has been there to try to help me learn how to do it myself or sometimes, just doing it for me when I am completely stumped. The Support Team is what has kept us here for several years. It does what we need it to do and help is always available.

Donor Snap review
I find entering donations into the system is with ease and very simple to run fundraising reports (outside of some Data Miner reports) or find information on donor.
Pros
I like the ease to enter a new donor or to record an existing donor's contribution. I love the merge letter feature as I often have many acknowledgment letters to send after inputting many donations. To run a report on various areas of a fundraiser helps me to narrow it down or be as broad as I want for the report. When we integrated to program many years ago, it went very well. The Customer Support is very helpful but at times it would be easier to communicate on phone rather than email.
Cons
I find the Data Miner reports difficult to set up to run with particular criteria. The support received has been helpful, but there are some reports that the customer support realizes don't report correctly and then have to create another report to compare. An example is if looking for a donor based on a mail code or attribute, but donor hasn't given monetarily, then the donor didn't show up on the report. The other area is when doing merge letters, the date is automatically entered, but there are times I want to post-date the letter. I can enter the new date, but once letter is completed to print, it defaults back to the current date.

Full-featured donor management system with excellent support
The staff at DonorSnap are friendly and quickly respond to requests for support. They were also incredibly helpful when we transferred our donor database from another platform, providing useful advice on best practices. Their Help website provides detailed information and videos so we can continue to learn how to use different aspects of the program.
Pros
DonorSnap is excellent at managing and stewarding donors and accepting donations. We've been able to customize DonorSnap to meet our organization's needs. We like being able to create different online donation forms to meet fundraising needs for different projects. The price is very reasonable for the quality and features found in DonorSnap and for the support they provide.
Cons
The built-in email system lacks design features and isn't setup to use for regular communicate with donors. They have a plug-in for Constant Contact, which is helpful. But it would be nice to have all donor communications reside within DonorSnap.

DonorSnap Easy & Efficient
Pros
DonorSnap is a small company that gives big service! I really appreciate that I can ask for help and receive a response in a timely fashion (usually within just a couple of hours or sooner). One of the reasons we went with DonorSnap was because they offered a lot of what larger companies offered, but at far less the cost. While they didn't have all the bells and whistles, they didn't pretend to either. We needed something easy to operate. I love that the screens all work basically the same. You don't have to remember how things work from screen to screen. The reporting system encompasses every data field (theirs or our customized fields) and is a breeze to utilize. They advertised "no hidden costs" and after 3 years, that's still true. I've sat in on numerous free webinars that have all been timely within the fiscal year and presented in a concise manner. I like the 20 minute specific lesson experience led by knowledgeable instructors and also learn from questions asked by other attendees. But back to the bells and whistles. Throughout the short time that we've been with DonorSnap, they've thoughtfully added some popular features like credit card interface, the ability to quickly upload individual demographic info solicited from a form on our website, and mass email capabilities to save on postage. I know that there's a lot more to this product than I utilize, but I like that they give me the opportunity to check out new software features with their webinars. I can't think of any other company (that I initially considered) that didn't charge for every little features and support - whether I needed them or not! I'm very happy with DonorSnap!
Cons
I wish there was a better way to show "InKind" donations on a report. Currently, they look the same as a cash donation.

Excellent, but has a learning curve
DonorSnap is a great software, and I recommend it for keeping track of donors, acknowledgements, and even mailing lists. I love how customizable everything is (including the payout for my screen, and the apps I have ready to go!) I recommend the software, just make sure you have ample time to train on it before you have to "go live". It can take a little bit. Once you know what you need, though, you can almost always set up your filters, create your templates, upload letters and more, so it's all there when you're ready, every time you need it!
Pros
The webinars are absolutely vital to getting everything out of this software, because DonorSnap does so very many things. I love it for pulling reports, and I appreciate being able to create very detailed, very specific reports. It also helps for mailings, event planning, and much more-- because I can click a few buttons and create a report letting me know which supporters would be most likely to enjoy the event, appreciate the Sponsorship Update, or who asked us to only send them our yearly newsletters. Definitely worth the cost and the flexibility is top-notch.
Cons
The learning curve is a little steep. The hardest part of learning how to use DonorSnap is figuring out what you *want* to do with it. I always recommend everyone take the webinars and watch the vids. It can be hard if you need to train a new user very quickly, and can be frustrating as you're learning to use the software. Once you know, you know-- but getting there can feel like an ordeal.

Easy to use
In my two years with this organization I've moved our memberships and donations from another platform to Donor Snap because its so much easier to use and the customer service is so much better.
Pros
It is very easy to use on the back end. Customizing reports, fields, user screens, and online forms is all very intuitive. Importing and exporting information is done with a few clicks. When there has been something more complex that haven't been able to figure out the customer service is always quick with a response. The customer facing side is also a much simpler interface than we've experienced with other systems.
Cons
Since we use this for our memberships it would be nice if there was a way for members to log in and see their membership level and expiration date. While you can use the online forms to have people sign up for events, such as a fundraiser or gala, it would be nice to use it for more complex programs such as summer camps or community programs where there are multiple dates to chose from, various forms that need to be read and confirmed, lots of information that needs to be provided that wouldn't be part of a DS contact (a kids medical info for summer camp). This would make it easier for us to see how our members and donors are interacting with us without having to collect that data from our registration system then manually flag them in Donor Snap.

A change well worth making!
From the moment we signed on with Donorsnap, we knew we had made the right decision. From the IT folks who helped us get our database transferred over, to the live and custom training, to our email and live online exchanges, it is not an overstatement to say we feel like we're part of the Donorsnap family. Very engaging, friendly, competent people that it's truly a pleasure to work with.
Pros
Donorsnap packs quite a punch for a 'simple to use' donor management software solution. It processes the routine day to day effortlessly with a great 'duplicate' function for similar-type donations, and has an interface for database queries that is accessible even to those without IT degrees. Very little external help is necessary (quite plug and play), but the support is lightning fast when you DO need it. Our first major fundraising effort since switching went seamlessly with our volunteers quickly getting up to speed with the user-friendly interfaces.
Cons
There are a lot of features that don't quite mesh up with how we have our Quickbooks set up, and the automatic interfaces (with goEmerchant, batch processing, tax statements etc. ) look like they would still require some intervention on my part in order to fully utilize, or changes to the way we currently track the donations. That being said, the functionality is there if I ever could devote the time to fully integrating and I can do what I need to do with modest efforts. Also there is a couple second delay whenever you go from one tab to another in the database, but it's barely a distraction.

The D.O.V.E. Fund - Development of Vietnam Endeavors
As a retired Software Engineer and Developer for a large corporation, this package is a good step for our application. I know that there are a lot of features (i.e. Tickler, Pledges, Volunteer Tracking, etc.) that we have not touched as that support is not in our focus at this time.
Pros
The software allowed us to import a lot of our information from an older (non DonorSnap) system, using the Excel Interface. Edits were easy to do as we continued to add more information to our system, and allow mass edits using the Excel interface.
Cons
We have asked for a few enhancements from the DonorSnap support and most of them have been very quickly. There are a few flags in the database (i.e. Bill Me) which are not exposed to be used in the DataMinerPlatinum for custom reports. There are a few work-arounds, so this is not a show stopper.

DonorSnap Suits Our Small Nonprofit Very Well
Overall, I would strongly recommend this program to smaller nonprofits. And it might work for bigger ones too. I'm just not sure. For reference, I'm the sole staff of this organization, Cascade Medical Foundation, and we have an annual budget somewhere between $100,000 and $200,000 except last year when we received grants that pushed us to about $320,000.
Pros
I've used DonorSnap for over 3 years, since I started at this Foundation job. I'm the only user, and it meets 99% of my needs. I don't know what it would be like for multiple staff users, but it seems like it would be fine. I like the level of detailed info I can collect on each donor/sponsor, and there are more interaction tabs that I don't even use. I can enter donation data quickly, do mass entry when that's appropriate, and easily pull reports based on either type of donor, date of donation, amount, etc. I also send my yearly tax letters through DonorSnap, and that goes pretty smoothly. Also, I use DS to pull addresses for mailing our newsletters. I have taken several of the trainings over time, and find them very helpful and broken down into very digestible chunks. Plus there are other helpful resources.
Cons
I have not integrated DS with QuickBooks because I'm still nervous about the challenges that will crop up during integration - because of the aligning codes and such so that all info flows the way I expect it to in QBs. So, right now I enter donations twice, which does take longer, but makes me feel very confident about the #s, and I really use DS and QBs differently. I feel like integration would/could cause problems with certain things, like restricted donations, in-kind and automatic monthly donations.

Donorsnap Review
Overall, I really enjoy using Donorsnap. I log into it almost every day. The main reason why I like it: customer service. By far, Donorsnap has the best customer service from any online service I've used. I am able to get into contact with a real human being very quickly and they always have been able to answer my questions very intelligently.
Pros
We like how fields can be highly customizable both with contacts and donations. Reports are very easy to retrieve. I also like the ease of batch codes and the documents/letters that I can customize and send.
Cons
We would LOVE "log ins" for our staff so they can see real time donations that only they have raised. This is not possible yet with DS. Also, event registrations don't work that well for us. We need the ability for a registrant to choose "quantity" (2 or more children going to camp for the same price, for example). Same issue if someone is purchasing 4 sweatshirts, for example. Also, we'd love use DS for ALL our contact management but it doesn't seem to work that way for us right now. We have donors, volunteers, paid staff, campers, the campers parents, board members, etc. If every paid staff, volunteer, board member could have a HIGHLY customizable log in to be able to see ONLY the information they have permissions for, would be super super wonderful. We've considered moving away from DS for this issue alone.

Use for a small but very busy neighborhood senior services organization
We've used the software for about three years now, and we've found that DonorSnap's focus is on functionality, which we appreciate. Though they gave it a makeover fairly recently, it wasn't one of those software makeovers that just makes it look more modern while removing functionality (my personal pet peeve). They add new features pretty regularly and provide clear and easily accessed training for them. The pricing structure is frozen in place, so no worries about it suddenly blowing up your small organization's budget.
Pros
Our favorite features are responsive forms and mass email campaigns. DonorSnap seems hard to learn, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. It's a great balance of having a basic ready-to-go template in place with a lot of ways to customize it for your org's needs. The support team is pretty responsive over email when you need them. We also pay less than half of what we used to pay for a different CRM that didn't give us nearly as many features. The fact that DS is web-based came in handy during the Covid pivot to work-from-home.
Cons
There are a number of minor software bugs (that have fairly easy workarounds once you remember that they're there).

Donor Management and so much more
We are still only accessing a fraction of the options with DonorSnap but the amount of time we have saved by using the system on completing donor management and business tasks is already very high. The responsive forms have also allowed us to add additional revenue streams by offering a simplified way of collecting a variety of data as well as payments.
Pros
We have a some unique events and revenue streams and DonorSnap has allowed me to customize whatever was needed to get the data we needed. Excellent customer service! They respond quickly and are always helpful in brainstorming as well when I am trying to tweak something to fit our specific needs. Many DonorSnap features have either simplified tasks I was already doing or led me to new ideas that were very helpful. The tutorials are excellent and I use those often when training new staff. Another big Pro is the ability to have separate users with different permissions if needed. The excel import function is another great feature.
Cons
Split donations and acknowledgement letters sometimes require work arounds but overall has not been a significant issue. Many settings such as screen layouts you can format and keep, would be nice if you could have a default on lines per page you could view instead of having to click to change that.

Donor Snap is the Aldi of CRM's--Everything you need without the facade
Overall awesome, I brag about it often with others in the field and I enjoy working within the software to create new forms, queries, reports, etc.
Pros
DonorSnap will allow you to do virtually anything. No extra fees or bundle packages, they just give you access to everything for considerably less money than some of the competitors we were looking at originally. They are simple and everything is fully customizable, especially the online forms that can be embedded into our website to collect contact data and payment information from our supporters. We run all of our trip payments, forms, signed waivers, and subscriptions through DonorSnap. We'll never go anywhere else, especially for $40/month, compared to $200+/month from other big software companies.
Cons
DonorSnap takes a little getting used to. It's very basic, no fun graphics or "wow" work here--just functional CRM software. The tech help is via email only, so you cannot get an immediate answer, but at the same time, this is how they keep their overhead low and pass the savings onto the clients. If you are unwilling to watch some tutorials on form set-up then this is not for you; it will take some practice and getting used to as you learn the software.

DonorSnap -
With our previous, very complicated donor management system, we had to hire specialists to do trainings for staff, problem solve, and design queries. DonorSnap and its support services have enabled us to keep our programs functioning without delays.
Pros
Unlike our previous donor management software, DonorSnap's features are very user friendly and easy to learn. Staff support is tremendous. Support/directions are available on every task page. And when we contact support directly, we have never waited more than an hour for a response. Price is also a great plus. We saved $6,000 per year by switching to DonorSnap.
Cons
At first I was concerned that we could not have a phone call with support as we were learning the program. But I soon learned that support's methods of providing customized video instructions were even better, allowing us to replay instructions as needed and also save the videos for future reference.
Reasons for Choosing DonorSnap

Not User Friendly
Overall experience is that it served a purpose for us while we needed it. But, I am thankful we switched to a more user friendly platform. I voiced my concerns to them several times and never had any feedback. The best part of it was the customizable dashboard.
Pros
The only positive was that fact that it is a Donor relations management /record keeping at a fair price.
Cons
The initial import was not easy. We were also told we would not have to make journal entries because it integrated great with QuickBooks, that was not the case. For what we needed it for, the import/export was very complicated and had lots of bugs. The reports are not easy to pull information. Data Miner Platinum is not user friendly and should not be so confusing. Mailing reports are cumbersome. You cannot customize letters and emails with your logo. The support side also had a lot to be desired. Anytime we needed help we were referred to a video that was just as confusing. The responsive forms were VERY cumbersome to make and took way too much time. It was just too much time administrative wise.

Hi Kim,
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We are sorry to hear your experience did not meet your expectations.
We take all customer feedback to heart to improve our product and respond to every support request. At one point you had requested complimentary event registrations in the same form as paid registrations. We are happy to share that we now offer that functionality in our online forms. We also offer pre-designed templates for our forms so users don't have to spend the time building them from scratch.
As for your challenges with Quickbooks, our integration allows users to record donations in DonorSnap and send them over to Quickbooks in a few clicks. They come over as journal entries and can even provide donor details if you set that up.
We are happy to hear that you have found a product that better fits RCISD's complex needs and we wish you the best of luck in the future.

Well worth the price tag
Easy and seamless because I tried to learn and conceptualized how each field in Donorsnap work first before mapping fields from the old system. Conversion and support team were very helpful and prompt in responding to issues.
Pros
Very inexpensive but can do all the basic functionalities for advancement day to day operations. Batch entry is so easy once you understand how it works. Query, reporting and exporting custom reports is very user friendly. As with all other systems, a software is only capable to it’s fullest potential if you understand how the various modules within the system work together. Training and support is crucial and their customer support is hands-on one of the best.!
Cons
The standard reports work for the most part but I wish it gives us much more flexibility. It also limits selection of fields based on active fields/codes which means that you’ll have to basically leave all codes - old and new - for the report to work accurately. This means for example that if you inactivate a Campaign code from 2 or 3 years ago, you are not able to run revenue from those codes unless you reactivate them. This is a nightmare for admins from a table code management point. The design of the standard reports need to be improved as well to look presentable especially when executives ask for last minute reporting and you know how often that happens.

Happy Client
I would describe my overall experience with DonorSnap as very positive. We are able to do many gift processing functions (recording donations, sending thank you letters) quickly and easily. I am building more complete donor profiles with the tools. We are now able to run reports and set up mailing and prospect lists consistently. The e-commerce feature and the responsive forms allow us to set up online ticket purchasing, registrations, and donations. This has been a critical tool for us.
Pros
We are a small nonprofit in a rural community in Oregon. DonorSnap is our first donor database system after years of Excel spreadsheets. I am so happy with how I can use it to record donor history, build contact profiles, run reports, pull lists and keep track of solicitations, conduct mass email campaigns, build responsive forms for online giving, and add notes. I don't feel we have utilized all the possible features yet. I love learning how to customize the fields and then to populate it with information. The training program and help videos are awesome. The response to my questions on email are fast and helpful. The support is a key aspect of why I feel we are using DonorSnap successfully. I now have a wish list of things I want to do with DonorSnap that I have yet to set up. It is a robust donor management tool and easy to use.
Cons
I haven't found anything I don't like about DonorSnap. There are some 'canned' reports that make it easy to use DonorSnap but I like to make custom reports too. I still need help with the report writing feature in the DataMiner Platinum since I am still learning. I'd like to master it better but know the team is there to help me get it right. Also, when we use the responsive forms sometimes DonorSnap doesn't recognize the patron as already having a record in the system and duplicates have occurred. I'm learning how to match and set up the forms to allow for smoother integration when we post the online gift or purchase. There is a tool to merge duplicate records so we have found that helpful. This is not a software problem but more of a user inexperience problem.

Complex Needs Met
Spreadsheets are gone! Before utilizing DonorSnap we had many places things were kept. We had numerous methods for tracking the same data and it was difficult to get thank you letters to donors and fundraising addresses updated and tracked. We needed what DonorSnap has to offer. We are still learning of new ways to utilize the tools it has and with its collaborative relationships for a credit card processor (goEmerchant), with Constant Contact, and Intuit, then the ability to create forms to integrate with your website. We are now re-developing our website and working to fully utilize the abilities of DS in our non-profit.
Pros
I love that I have the ability to customize the screens and that I can build forms to meet our needs.
Cons
The needs of a non-profit with donations and memberships are complex and had been managed poorly before this software was in use. The learning curve is long and complex and it is because the functions are complex as is needed with the type of needs we have.

This is an excellent database platform. Not flashy, but very sufficient for our needs.
Pros
This database does everything we need it to and more. We're a smaller non-profit with 1500 donors. The database makes searching for information and pulling reports simple while providing all the details we need. The BEST part of DonorSnap is their incredible customer support team. They've never taken more than a few minutes to respond to email questions with clear and concise answers. They answer in a way that not only gives you what you need, but teaches you how to find it next time. This team is really on top of their game. Our organization also just launched the new partnership DonorSnap has with goEmerchant for our online giving and feedback from our donors has been very positive. Nice to have it all in one system.
Cons
This software is not flashy or polished. Then again it doesn't have a premium price tag. Once you learn the software though you'll find it has everything most people need to successfully manage an organizations donors/volunteers/etc. I think there are a few functions that would be great to add, but honestly, when I've asked the support team - 2/3 of the time they are already working on that next new feature! For example - one area that is lacking is regional donor search features. We have donors all across the country and when I go visit a certain area it would be great to search for all donors within 50 miles of a certain zip code for example.
Response from DonorSnap
David,
Thank you so much for the feedback. Regarding the proximity report... we actually have this ready to go on our testing site. It will go live in the next batch of updates. You'll see that option in DataMiner Platinum by adding the zip code field to the query builder. Let us know how it meets your needs!

We love DonorSnap! It's user-friendly and easy to train new team members while still providing a level of detail and deeper analysis needed by our executive staff members. DonorSnap meets all of our needs while still being affordable which is a critical necessity for an organization of our size.

The Light Radio Network DonorSnap Review
Overall experience with DonorSnap has been very satisfying. I find data entry to be more efficient than our previous platform and the reporting capabilities far exceed those we had before
Pros
First, I really like the ease of data entry, that fields, once populated, remain populated because I always enter donations from the same source in batches (cash, or checks, Or Credit, etc.).
Second, the reporting capabilities are very complete and flexible, allowing me to tailor queries to my specific needs
Third, the support I receive is fantastic -- real-time responses, great understanding of my needs
Cons
When we made the transition from our previous platform, the transition was very smooth and error-free. I don't have any complaints associated with the platform or the function but there is one modification I would like that would save me a mouse click on every entry. Currently the design is such that the cursor returns to the Contact Field upon completion of the entry of the amount and hitting the entry key, which I like. As I mentioned earlier, I process my entries using the same Payment Method in groups and save the information by Payment Method type, so as I'm making entries, all I'm entering is Contact, then Amount, next Contact, then Amount, etc. Hence, I would like an enhancement such that auto-places the cursor in the Amount field after I populate the Contact field. This would not add any mouse clicks for those who don't operate in this manner because one already has to choose the next field after Contact selection, but it would save a mouse click for those who operate as I do,

Easy to use and best customer service
Pros
I love how intuitive it is to use. It's very easy to set up. The company works with you to customize it to fit the needs of your non-profit. It has worked very well for receipting donors easily - either by email or printing receipts. It's very simple to run donation reports, contribution statements, etc. They have tickler alerts you can set up to remind you to do things with certain donors (send a thank you note, contact in a week, etc.). There are a ton of help videos and webinars to show you how to do different things. Their customer service is the best I have ever encountered. They go above and beyond to help you solve and problems you may have.
Cons
I have been using it for years and love it. They keep adding new things to make it better. I honestly can't think of ways to improve.

A fairly simple but very good data base management system
We are primarily a nonprofit organization and using DoorSnap to build a database for fundraising.
As donations are received, thank-you notes are sent or emailed to acknowledge the donation, now a simple process once as the donation type is tagged when entered and can be matched to a type of stored letter. These can be created and sent by batch rather than individually for mailing or emailing.
We also use DonorSnap to double check the correct postings in QuickBooks (in both systems!)
The very best thing I personally like about DonorSnap is the quick, thorough and patient responses that I have always received when I call for Support!
Pros
The Report Writer is a great feature that can be used to analyze/report out the data in multiple ways since a report can be created from any of the many available fields within the data base.
Adding contacts is also a simple process as is making changes or merging duplicates.
The acknowledgment system for donations and especially the new custom feature for Contributions is a huge time saver with a professional, personalized appearance.
Cons
It would be helpful if the search functions did not require exact spellings but would suggest all that come close. There are occasional glitches in the search function.
There are many terms and options that I still do not fully understand unless one of them happens to cause me an issue and I need to call Support for help. A dictionary of every term/option including where used and the results of using/not using would be a great help and likely would likely expose more useful features that I am not now aware of.
I would love to be able to "data-fix" specific fields within the contacts without having to create a spreadsheet and uploading.

Great database for small nonprofit!
DonorSnap has helped me grow from a small, volunteer-led organization with no database or 501c3 to a well-oiled, professional nonprofit that raises $700k+ annually. I could not have afforded a traditional database when we started, but I would still need switch over to Blackbaud or any other CRM. DonorSnap has grown with me, and I am grateful for them and their team!
Pros
DonorSnap gives me everything I need to fundraise, track donations and contact management effectively. I don't need a big fancy platform: just something that helps me get the job done without a lot of guesswork. DonorSnap is it. Not a lot of frills, but enough for me to prepare decent reports, customize things like contribution statements, et.c I've recommended them to several other nonprofits for their functionality, and their great customer service. Easy to access tutorials and videos for anything you need to know how to do. They are always quick to respond in person as well.
Cons
I don't like the providers they've used for things like donation buttons, etc. But again that isn't their true line of work, so not a big problem for me. I do wish they would integrate with more online donation platforms like Qgiv to save on data entry! Some of the reporting features are clunky, take some guesswork.

Ease of donation entry
DonorSnap is the best "bang for the buck" system I have found. We are a very small foundation, with small income, and it does more that we could ask for. The product continues to be updated. We signed up when the other system we used went out of business. This is so much better than what we had, and customer support is very good. I would recommend it to others.
Pros
It is very easy to enter donations, and pull monthly or yearly reports. If you make a mistake, it is very user friendly to edit. I have always gotten responses to my questions if I run into a situation that I don't know how to handle, and the training videos are very helpful in teaching new features (and older features that I had not needed before).
Cons
I find that pulling mailing lists with certain restrictions can be a bit confusing. I wish there was an easier method for eliminating criteria and including others. I have watched the training, but I still get confused, and not sure I am getting exactly what I need.

Great Solution for the Small Non Profit
Excellent!!
Pros
DonorSnap easily provides all our processing and information needs. Users can easily enter pledges and donations. Donor acknowledgements, pledge reminders, and year end statements are all very easy to generate. All our user requests for reports and information can be accommodated by the report writer. We've been able to extensively modify the fields and screens to accommodate our changing data capture requirements.
Cons
Real time tracking of our semi annual campaign takes several steps to generate a report, open the Excel sheet and copy into our campaign dashboard (analyzed in pivot tables). Having an ODBC connection would eliminate these steps and provide real time updates to the campaign manager.

We are looking forward to expanding our use of DonorSnap for member communications and for volunteer management.
Pros
Although not specifically designed for tracking memberships in our non-profit organization, DonorSnap is easily customizable to accommodate this function. It is straightforward to use and the user-defined fields provide all the fields needed to manage and track our membership donations. DonorSnap allows us to easily send renewal notices and reminders to more than 450 members, with custom cover letters. Reports are easy to run and customize, including producing mailing labels for our newsletter. Having the ability to set up a personalized dashboard and select specific fields for the various screens is important and easy to do. Probably one of the best features is the support that is provided. The online resources available, including webinars and detailed step-by-step instruction guides, are excellent. There are always new training webinars being offered on DonorSnap features. The support from customer service is also excellent with quick responses and follow-up if needed.
Cons
I don't use DonorSnap for our routine membership tracking and for the functions I need, it works well.

Satisfied
I've been very satisfied with DonorSnap. We had spreadsheets prior to installing DonorSnap. There has been somewhat of a learning curve, but once you master what you want to get out of the system, it works.
Pros
In my opinion, DonorSnap is a robust product that provides excellent functionality. For our small organization it meets all our needs. This system will do much more than I'm capable or implementing or have the time to build and implement. There's more engine under the hood than most people will ever really need. But that to me is the beauty of it. It's there if you want or need it. It's solid. It works. Support is Excellent. Very responsive. They know the system. I'm very impressed with their support. They also have a wide range of training videos and live webinars to help you.
Cons
Comparing DonorSnap to other similar products, it is not flashy. If you're looking for flash, DonorSnap may not be what you want. If you like lots of colorful graphs, DonorSnap probably isn't for you. If you want a product that, at least for us, provides a broad array of options to track donor information and you don't care about a fancy front end, then DonorSnap may be what you're looking for.
