Best App For Shift Work!

I love using 7shifts for checking my work schedule and keeping track of my shifts. It's so easy to see my schedule as well as events that are happening on my work days. The chat function is also great because I can send private messages or a group message to other people to see if they'd like to switch shifts. Gone are the days of email attachments with work schedules. I'm so happy that my workplace uses 7shifts!

Pros

All the information I need to know for my work shifts is in one place: days I'm working, who I'm working with and special work events happening that day. It's easy to contact people to switch shifts because I know who is and isn't working on specific days.

Cons

There isn't really anything I don't like about 7shifts as it gives me all the information I need for my weekly schedule in one place.

Great software for multi-unit restaurant operation

Overall, I am happy with 7Shifts. Integrated with our pos and all of our employees are happy with it.

Pros

Simplicity of use, and many features for communication across multiplications.

Cons

I wish 7Shifts had an internal translated where groups can easily communicate back and forth between English and Spanish without having to copy paste to an external translator. Simply, a ‘see translation’ button would be amazing as many restaurants have language barrier holding back employees from understanding announcements and SoP’s.

Not the easiest app to navigate

For my specific job I like seeing all my coworker’s info and weekly shifts though it is difficult to navigate throughout the app and switching shifts.

Lack of sync with Revel POS which makes me hesitant to continue to use it.

Good system but lacks basic budget

I’ve used 7shifts for a number of years. I’ve had no complaints up until the basic need of looking at dollars written to spend and also reporting showing us the difference of what we scheduled versus what we spent in dollars. I don’t need man hours I don’t need certain budget tools that they use. It’s just missing the one number that I can use as an administrator to check how my managers with their schedules.

Pros

The ease of use of using to write schedules and communication.

Cons

I want to know total dollar spend for the written schedule per day. It is lacking that basic function because it has other tools that are supposed to help you. But the tools are very complex and difficult.

Great service for a medium sized company!

Pros

This system is great for a medium sized business. We are growing and hiring more and more team members and the ease to add new members to the team is great. The ability to have several managers use the system is great too.

Cons

The note section for staff for what is going on that day could have the ability to be more detailed maybe by the time of the day if you have several things going on that day.

An overall great switch over for both employers and employees, outside of minor inconveniences there isn’t much left to be desired

Good Scheduling Software

Pros

The software works well for scheduling, time off requests & approvals.

Cons

The availability doesn't allow for every other week. Manys employees have split households & need every other week availability based on custody schedules. We have recommended this enhancement multiple times, however we haven't seen any movement with this. In addition, the shift pool notifications don't always work & a resolution hasn't been reached on this. This is critical for our business & getting shifts covered.

7 Shifts is a great scheduling tool, easy to use!

I've really enjoyed using this app. Out of all the apps we use for running our restaurant it is the one I've never had an issue with. Easy to use and our staff really enjoy it as well. Also easy to navigate from desktop to app.

Pros

7 shifts make scheduling super easy! As a small restaurant with a small team I enjoy the template function that they have for you to use when scheduling week to week. It allows you to use the same schedule from the week before (or any week) to use for that weeks schedule. We have set schedules so this works well for us and makes scheduling super easy!

Additionally the announcements and direct messaging features of 7shifts allows us to get important information to our team quickly.

Cons

Sometimes it feels like the interface is a little busy for my liking but other than that I haven't had any issues with the app.

Easy and Efficient

Great Way to Schedule and Track Hours

I love how easy it is for me to check my schedule, update my availability, put in time off requests and communicate with team members. It’s super easy for our team to stay connected.

Cons

I don’t like that it will log me off randomly, since it is something that I use every day. I also don’t like that the hours tracker has just stopped working. It was a great way to track my finances and budget.

Overall been a good experience

Pros

It is easy to use and has made things easier with the Toast integration. We switched from Jolt to 7 shifts and have much more control over metrics and tying everything together with the Toast integration. Task lists are easy to create and use. Event calendar helps us communicate events to staff

Cons

Labor tracking and scheduling hours are confusing and dificult to determine how those numbers are calculted. They dont align with Toast, so we can never figure out how 7 shifts system is coming up with the labor numbers from the schedule. It is difficult when salaried employees are included on the schedule and Toast caluclates differently

Harassing sakes calls, inability to cancel

7 Shifts garassed me with sales calls and emails, calling me and locations, constantly trying to upsell . We changed schedulers because a new 1 came free with POS but they made it impossible to cancel subscription. Great product, unethical company, harassing sales tactics.

I like the ease of the functionality for scheduling. I like being able to move from one schedule to the other.

Would be even better with a few improvements, overall still great!

Overall has been good, easier to use compared to similar platforms, the interface is very natural. It's very affordable, for its basic uses.

Pros

Love that it integrates with TOAST POS. We use schedule enforcement and sales and labor forecasting on the budget tool. It's easy to use and the app for employees is straightforward. The functions are basic but important without any fluff...Nothing is hard to find.

Cons

Customer service has really gone downhill in the last 5 years. Also they have only 2 management tiers (manager and assistant manager) and "managers" can't modify other mangers, so you have to have admins in each location and reach out to support to add and remove admins. I have suggested to them they should create a super admin position, but no avail.

I give them an A+. I've needed phone support in the past and they've always been very professional and super helpful.

Pros

From the ease of publishing weekly schedules to employees being responsible for covering their own shifts when needed or scheduling their own time off and/or sick pay is a game changer. No more manual processes. I especially love the messaging system. I can blast the entire company or certain teams or just the employee when needed. It tracks conversations and allows employees to answer. No need for multiple apps...

Cons

A good product with room for improvement

Pros

The scheduling portion is pretty easy. I like that I can copy from one week to the other, and that I can get a "warning" if someone has asked for time off or is not available. The newer on-boarding package features are really helpful. I like that we can add time off policies. The announcement feature is nice and I like and that it has read receipts. There are quite a few features to 7shifts, and I don't even use all of them, but it's nice to know they are there. Overall, 7 Shifts helps me to keep organized and streamline my processes. It saves me a lot of time!

Cons

I like to print off the time off calendar so my staff can see who has time off, but it is not currently printer friendly. I have to take a screen shot of the page, then crop it and print. I wish the calendar could be downloaded as a PDF.
We often have glitchy issues with the 7shifts app. For instance, I never get notified of time off requests, even though I have push notifications and email turned on. My staff often tells me that they can't swap shifts because the app is glitching out.
I also wish that if an employee is flagged "sick" for their shift, but their shift got covered, that the app would not send me, and the person who is sick, notifications that they haven't punched in for their shift. That is very annoying.
I am not a fan of the new time clocking reports they are trying out. It is confusing and does not provide a clear picture of total hours nor can I print off a time sheet for someone to correct. It's not a good "update" at all. I think 7shifts has so many features, and they seem to be always adding new ones, that they might be having a hard time optimizing the ones they already have.

7 Shifts works

I am generally happy with it, and once I'm in a rhythm it's efficient and effective.

Pros

The ability to create open shifts, schedule templates, easily maneuver shifts and see requested days off, availability desires and schedule events all make a for a robust scheduling too.

Cons

Needs previous of the 2 days surrounding the work week to ensure better scheduling, clearer availability systems or the ability of a manager to input availability based on conversations they had, and it needs more robust event scheduling options that can be tied to open shifts that need to be filled

7 Shifts is a critical part of my job and makes it easier

I am very impressed with how easy it is to use and all of the features it has. I makes scheduling pretty manageable. It is great for the team to use for trades and communication.

Pros

I like how easy it is to put together the schedule for our team. team. It is great that they can use the app for communication, trades and keeping track of their schedule. They seem to like it as well and make good use of it. I cannot imagine my job without it.

Cons

I don't like that I cannot set it to see a whole weekend on one screen. It would help so much if I could see Thursday - Sunday in one screen.

I hate how the start end times cannot be set by me. They change randomly to times I need just once in a while, if I don't notice that it chose a different time it is a mess. I would like shift times set by me but a function so I can change it for on off situations.

7shifts review for Restaurant

Good product for the money and they are continuing to inovate.

Pros

One of the best parts of 7shifts is that you're not paying per user. We have inactive users away at college, and have access for our owners and accountants, but we're not paying more just to keep them on the schedule. 7shifts also allows us to categorize staff together based on position which is helpful.

Cons

When you view one position at a time, compared to all positions, the organization of employees is jumbled.

Shift into 7shifts

An uncomplicated, user friendly design that provides me with access to real time information as its input and relates to my job.

Pros

A clean, well designed program that anyone can learn to use.

Cons

As with any and all scheduling systems these days the updates can be slow to finish and problematic if not applied after business hours.

7shifts for the win!

Pros

Getting 7Shifts set up was super easy! The process to integrate with the other platforms that we use was also very simple. This is important because not all companies have an IT department that can blow through tech set up. 7Shifts can be used by anyone.

Cons

The only complaint I have is the that you aren't able to use the tip management feature unless you use 7shifts' payroll processing as well.

A great tool for employee management

7shifts is a useful tool for scheduling and payroll management. Both employees and employers can increase their efficiency using this. It helps in time tracking and project management as well.

Pros

It has been a great tool for team management and scheduling of tasks. It helps to effectively communicate with the team. It comes with a user-friendly interface, making it very useful for both managers and employees. Pricing of the software is also quite competitive.

Cons

Customer support can be improved a bit. Sometimes, there comes a lag while updating the task progress. Otherwise, it is a good tool

Operations Coordinator

I really appreciate the way this software works. I like that other managers can look at shifts before they are published, and we can work together. My team is in constant communication using the app and I am able to assist whit what they need.

Pros

7Shifts makes it easy to schedule my team and communicate with them. The app helps make sure they are plugged in and know their schedule. They are able to let me know their needs. The app is great for the team to stay in touch.

Cons

I don't like that I cannot set the shift times and have them stay the same. 7Shifts can have lags that are inconvenient, but it does come through.

Easy, accessible, quick,multifunctional toll done GREAT

Pros

Seeing the schedule, access to your pay stub and seeing how much you made after your shift with tax taken out ( depending on your state)
Notifications when schedule changed. Notifications when your shift starts in an hour 🙌, access to pay stubs easily, you can see whos scheduled when and get their contact as needed . Also great for communication between the team!

Cons

Not sure if its something on our end ( probably is) but we changed systems and now use spot on . And we no longer can connect timesheet or or see the paystubs.. cant verify vlock in. Its not connected.
Weve been told it will take 2 weeks to transfer everything over and its been over 2 - 3months . Not sure if thr system we use doesnt want to connect or if its something on our admin office end .

Great user friendly software

I used it for years because the company I worked for scheduled our shifts on it. It was so easy to pick up shifts or trade them with other coworkers if I needed to. I liked it and was sad when I changed jobs and no longer got to use 7shifts for my scheduling.

Pros

Being able to pick my own schedules each week and it was easy to do. Very user friendly to add, drop, and trade shifts.

Cons

I had no problems with it, so there are no cons for me.

Wonderful

Pros

it is easy to use but really nothing really service from 7shift

Pros

easy to see and easy to know what it is but really software is empty

Cons

It was lot of spaces and not specific details about team members and time management. I really had hard time to scheduling from 7 shift. It is not specific about there working total time and total earning from restaurant

Very Valuable Tool

Has been a great tool in the daily operation of our business.

Pros

The ability to mange multiple schedules. Distribute it easily. Communicate with the team. View sales and sale comparisons. Save daily logs.

Cons

Not fully integrated with POS so that we could pull individual employee sales or receipts or see PMIX reports.

Employees love it!

Makes employee communication easier. The fact that they can put up a shift and get it covered without anything but observation makes it a really valuable product

Pros

The employees are clear on when they are scheduled.

Easy to use for even non-tech savvy employees with an added time clock as a bonus feature

Overall a very consistence experience with no glitches. Notifications of new schedules were received promptly, time clock feature integrated with main app to account for and track work hours. Happy with functionality and ease of use of 7shifts

Pros

Ease of use and navigation for employees. Also really liked the integrated time clock feature.

Cons

No cons noticed while using 7shifts. One challenge was having to use one workplace device for staff to clock-in, which at times would not be plugged in and the device would die. It would have been nice to integrate clock-in feature so employees could use time clock on their own devices. This may exist as a feature now though.
