A great platform for freelancers with one small caveat
I've been using Enterprise Suite for over 4 years and am happy with their platform. I was able to create and grow my freelancing business using their free tools and available options. Their portfolio options have been great for letting me showcase my skills and past experiences, and fixed-rate projects have been great for letting me test expanding my services. I'd recommend Enterprise Suite to other freelancers looking to grow their business.
Pros
Easy to use, fair rates, and huge exposure. I've been able to build and grow my business across the US and internationally using Enterprise Suite.
Cons
There is much more flexibility for clients to update contract details than for contractors. As a contractor, I cannot increase my rate unless I choose to do so before the client and I are officially in contract. The only other way I can increase my rate is to end the current contract and start a new contract or have the client increase the rate from their end.

It's Like Finding Treasure in a Pile
Upwork has been a great experience for me. I can find a freelancer to help me with my projects in a day or less than 24 hours. It is extremely fast and reliable. I have the app downloaded on my phone so that I can fall back onto Upwork for hiring freelancers. I have tried hiring people off of Indeed but they were not as reliable as the freelancers on Upwork. Upwork freelancers can be aggressive and they may ask to get paid outside of Upwork, but if they do, I don't pay as much as the freelancers who are willing to get paid through the Upwork app.
Pros
Upwork has been my fastest method of hiring freelancers to work on my business-related projects. I have hired three people so far to help me with my business and it seems to be getting better as I have adapted to the platform. I heard about Upwork from someone in Los Angeles who was teaching dropshipping and e-commerce. I wasn't comfortable at the time using Upwork because I was a freelancer myself but as my projects became more complex and I became more busy promoting my business, I looked into Upwork to help people who were willing to help me make my business ventures come true.
Cons
Upwork doesn't have the best freelancers to choose from. Many of the freelancers I chose were those who were great in communication and were really willing to help me promote my brand, Kristie Kim Design. There are tons of freelancers to choose from, domestic and international, but I moved forward with the freelancers who stuck with me and kept contacting me. I don't like when freelancers ask me to pay outside of Upwork. If they ask for this, I do not end up paying as much as the freelancers found on Upwork. I understand Upwork takes a part of the payment when I hire a freelancer, but I find this as a safe option to keep a record of how much I spend hiring freelancers.
Alternatives Considered
IndeedReasons for Switching to Enterprise Suite
I chose Upwork over the alternative products because I don't have to pay an hourly rate or a salary to the freelancer. I can hire someone off of Upwork who is great in communication and have Upwork keep a track of how much I pay the freelancers. Everything is kept organized and there is extremely fast communication within the service. When I have issues, I contact customer support and problems get solved less than 24 hours on average.

Great Way to Find Contract Resources
Overall, Upwork allowed us to resource a project without going through the more traditional and expensive means of hiring a consulting/recruiting agency. As a client (as opposed to contractor), the fees are incredibly reasonable, as you are only required to pay for transactional fees. This is a much more preferable option to traditional recruiters. We will definitely consider using Upwork to resource our projects in the future.
Pros
Upwork allows you to connect with a variety of service professionals from all over the globe. Their online platform is very easy to use for beginners, and allows for relatively advanced search functionality so that you can find the talent you need. Their customer service reps are very prompt and helpful, and someone contacted me within 24 hours of posting my available job. In addition, their candidate review and endorsement section is very helpful during the selection process, as you can review which candidates have a proven work history.
Cons
The range of talent you can find on Upwork is almost too broad. In some instances, the price per hour can vary up to $100, depending on the experience and the location of the candidate. This can be a little overwhelming if you're a first time user and you unsure what to expect from the candidates. The communications policy with candidates is also very strict, and only allows you to contact communicate directly through the platform. While this may be sufficient for smaller projects, it is not conducive to larger project work.

BEST place to find freelancers!
Upwork is the easiest and quickest way to find freelance talent that suits my needs. I simply create a listing with my specifications and budget, post, and bam! I go right to interviewing as the applications pour in. I have some of my most dedicated website designers there.
Pros
- Easy to find freelancers for various projects
- Payment Protection with contract handling and escrow
- Makes it easy to add employees so everyone can find freelancers to assist them

Upwork Enterprise is a must-have tool for a dynamic startup constantly looking for talent
If you are a savvy product company I think Upwork Enterprise is a must. In many cases, you'll find talent with diverse skillsets to build MVPs for you that you can test and validate before deciding whether you want to go all in or not.
Pros
The most powerful feature about Upwork enterprise suite is simply the talent pool on Upwork. As a startup, we firmly believe before hiring you should explore all other options to get something built and off the ground. We use Upwork across the business hiring diverse skillsets for missions to help us validate new products and processes. From there, this acts as a sensational hiring process because you can try multiple upworkers before meeting a candidate you want to hire full-time.
Cons
I think Enterprise suite could integrate AI to help with the process of writing job ads and streamlining the set up process. There is still a lot of guess work that goes into Upwork posting including being unclear about per hour wages and what to write to attract the right candidate. Using their vast data set, I am sure with the implementation of AI they can make this even more streamlined.

Opportunities
I have had very good experiences with the projects achieved on this platform.
They also take care of the client as well as the freelancer giving them the same priority so that both parties receive their benefits fairly and respectably.
Pros
It is a platform that allows you to get work projects in which you can start even if you have little experience and you may be surprised by how much you can find to do and learn from each project you undertake. If you are dedicated and take into account the warnings of the platform not to contact clients outside the platform you can have great success. GO FORWARD!
Cons
Lately, they are exaggerating a bit the amount of Connects required to be able to apply for a job offer.

Upwork is a great tool for all freelancers
Overall, Upwork is a great place to make a living as jobs are regularly available to apply and win. The product also provides different payment options which makes it more user-friendly.
Pros
Upwork is very easy to use from the standpoint of the freelancer. The platform also provides payment flexibility for the buyer while the seller can charge as much as the job is worth. Also, it is easy to charge clients per hour or per project, which is another amazing feature. Finally, it is quite easy to integrate Upwork into my freelance writing business.
Cons
One shortfall of Upwork is that it is not easy to navigate to your personal profile link to share to other platforms. In addition, Upwork has to improve on the availability of writing gigs so that buyers can find them. A difficult part may be the instant notification for jobs that you don't usually get on time.

Upwork has made my career
Without Upwork I would never have succeeded in my career as a freelancer - I've had so many amazing jobs because of it including editor of a magazine, project manager, travel article writer and so much more. I've joined other freelancing job sites but none of them close to Upwork, I've been with it since it was called Odesk so have since lots of changes. It takes dedication as a newbie at Upwork to be able to secure jobs but so long as you're a hard worker and honest, you won't look back.
Pros
The ability to find a wide variety of work that I can do from home, or indeed whilst traveling the world. Upwork has ensured I've never had to set foot in an office or retail environment for even 1 day of my working life!
Cons
The 20% commission that Upwork take is a bit high, however if you keep with the same job for a long time this does reduce to 10%. Also, all payments are done in US $ which can mean losing out with the exchange rate as I'm from the UK.

Upwork is a great place to get work done at cheaper rates. If you're trying to complete a project on a limited budget, Upwork is your answer.
Pros

Cons
Because it is saturated by freelancers around the world, one has to really vet the freelancers to make sure that decent quality work is produced.

More than just a time tracker
If it had better time tracking increments (down to the minute) this would be a very good time tracking app for freelancers.
Pros
Easy to use time tracking that only requires one click to start and pause. Periodic activity and screenshot tracking is built in so it is more than just a time tracker. Offline time tracking is a big bonus to areas with unstable internet connection.
Cons
Time tracking is wonky and sometimes inaccurate. The app tries to track time in 10 minute increments so if you work under that amount, sometimes time isn't tracked. Periodic screenshots make it feel like big brother is watching you.

Good Freelancing Platform, but costly.
UpWork is a very good freelancing site and there's a lot of room for potential if you keep trying, however,
there seems to be too much competition to even get started and rated, and the bids are too expensive for the average or beginner freelancer.
Some gigs cost like 10 bids, and if you spend the gigs and don't get the job, then you've lost money, because you have to pay for the bids in advance.
So, I think it would be best to build a strong reputation on Social Media or via a Blog, before bidding on gigs on UpWork, so the employers can get a better understanding of who you and what you can do.
Thank You.
Pros
I like the wide selection of gigs available and the useful filters such as filtering Skills and when the Gigs were posted, e.g. you can search for Animation gigs by most Recent.
Cons
I love the wide selection of gigs available, however, I don't like how you need to pay for bids, it adds up over time, and for the most part I haven't received an actual gig as yet, and thus I've lost money.

A Solid Freelancing Platform
Getting jobs and hiring good freelancers is easy to do after some digging. There are many freelancers and job offers but using the right filters and making the most of the tools provided by the platform can streamline the process.
Pros
There is any number of jobs available on Upwork, which provides freelancer with many different options. From an employer's point of view, it is a great tool as well as it provides information about the ratings, earnings, and skills of a freelancer. In addition, there are different packages and on-the-go options that allow for quick completion of urgent projects.
Cons
There are so many freelancers and jobs that some scams and bad offers might creep in. In addition, it has become a more difficult place for new users as getting good initial work to earn a quality score is not as easy as it was three or four years ago.

Upwork has influenced my career
I have solved my financial problems cause I was the person who really needs the money to help the family .
Pros
Upwork is a relatively simple website to use. It is constantly adding new work it has really aided me in obtaining new customers and assignments.
Despite the fact that I work, Upwork remains my preferred site for putting my freelancing abilities to use in my leisure time. It provides me with a source of money.
Cons
The only constraint is that it is pretty expensive but reasonable, and it is also highly stressful for freelancers to build up your reputation on Upwork and gain long term clients on Upwork.

A review as a Client and a Freelancer
I find the customers on the site to be of a higher level than those found on other sites. The clients are respectable, friendly, and don't negotiate or cheapen the experience.
Pros
Upwork is an excellent platform for gaining new clients. I've worked with Upwork for several years and only have great experiences. I've also used the site as a Client, searching for services. I found my assistant through Upwork, and she's the best!
Cons
Upwork's take is 20%. I know that's the industry standard, but it's a lot. I feel I would be better served, and Upwork would also, by a smaller take resulting in more orders. I have to raise my rates 20% to cover the charges and that's unfair to my clients.

Very good Freelancing platforms
Upwork has been and I guess will be the best freelancing platform, I really enjoy working there and will definitely recommend to others.
Pros
The user interface is very easy and great, there are tones of opportunities related to every field, everyone can find something to work on. The review and feedback option also helps a lot to boost your rating and get hired easily.
Cons
It's very hard to find a job and get hired at first, even though you have a good matching profile, first projects come very hard. Connects are paid now, and I think it is not fair, as anyway upwork charges its % from your income.

Such a great marketplace that love clients and freelancers both
My overall experience is fantastic with Upwork, it's super easy to use, highly secured and a lot helpful. It helped me to grow my business and take it to the next level. If I need a talented person, Upwork is my only choice even If I want to provide services around the world, Upwork is my only choice.
Pros
One of the best freelancing platforms out there in terms of security it provides for money transfers between seller & freelancer. I like so many things about this freelancing marketplace especially the hiring system. As a client, I can easily tell the freelancer what I need, and the suitable freelancers bid on the post, this process always helps me to find out a talented person. There is no spam here, freelancers are so serious about their job. Even I can pay the freelancer by using the best suitable method and way such as the hourly or fixed project.
Cons
I have used Upwork from both sides, as a freelancer and as a client. Overall everything was really amazing except few things from the freelancer side. Upwork certificate has a tight limitation, people who have WordPress related or other certificates, can't add it to their profile because there is no option. As a result, a freelancer can't add his perfect skill proof to the profile. Upwork has released a new feature called Project Catalog. This whole functionality seems not completed yet, there is no analytics option on it. There is another issue I've noticed from the client-side. If the payment method is not verified, freelancers don't bid on the job post. A new client who joined Upwork just now maybe one day or two days ago, they don't know anything about it. So, they send job posts without verifying their payment method. I think Upwork should have a functionality that no one can send job posts with an account that does not have a verified payment method.

Upwork is a great resource for freelance work
I have used Upwork since it began and though there a drawbacks, it's an excellent platform to find work and build up clientele.
Pros
Upwork provides a platform from which freelancers can build up clientele and scale their work/business. With a global reach, you can work with interesting businesses based anywhere in the world. I like that I am paid weekly, so it feels more like a regular job and that I have pay protection for every job completed through the platform. It prevents scams and freelancers not getting paid and gives peace of mind in knowing there are tons of people looking for freelancers, all you have to do is apply.
Cons
The biggest drawback is the 20% fee. When you take into consideration you have to pay taxes on top of that fee you are loosing about 40% of your income. There are also a few small technical things that are frustrating, like leaving the hiring person responsible for closing a job (they often don't know to do this).

Fantastic for finding and working with contractors
I've used it on both the client and contractor side, and love the protections it offers on both sides. Large talent pool for clients and contractors alike, which is why they charge the fees I discuss. At the end of the day, if you need contract labor, or are looking for contract work, this is the creme de la creme in my opinion.
Pros
It's like having escrow and a mediator for any client/contractor relationship. I've worked as both a client and contractor on the platform and love what it offers.
As the client is that the fees are primarily paid by the contractor. I feel like perhaps this should be split between both parties, but that's just my two cents. It protects both client and contractor making sure that the work gets done before payment, and that the contractor gets paid if the work is completed to spec. They have a time tracking tool that takes screenshots of the contractors screen to ensure they are working on the client's project, and not billing for browsing FB or Twitter.
Cons
As a contractor, the initial fees are 20%, which feels a bit steep. They do add a lot of value in terms of the client pool, and I realize they are in it to make money, but as an American contractor competing in the global economy, I find I have to underprice my services to compete already, before the 20% cut that Upwork takes. I finally worked my way up to Top Rated, which means I only pay 10% on some projects, and the 20% can also be reduced on long term projects, but that's my only gripe. Otherwise, I love the marketplace it offers.
Important caveat:
What I mention above may be a perk if you are a client looking to hire talent on Upwork.

Access to many clients -- but with high fees
Upwork can be worth your time, and the fees, if you go into it knowing your costs and plan accordingly. My Upwork rates are about 20% higher than my non-Upwork rates to compensate for the exorbitant fees. (When you calculate your rates, remember that you're being taxed on the full amount you're paid, not the amount after fees...) That said, realize that you will have a tough time if you try to start charging expert-level rates on Upwork without reviews and a job success score to back it up. You will almost certainly have to charge less than you're worth at first in order to build the reputation that will allow you to land those higher-paying jobs.
Pros
You can make decent money if you stick with Upwork long enough to build a strong reputation, earn a high job success score, and garner positive client reviews. I've connected with many long-term clients who are willing to pay my rates via the platform. Tracking time is easy and the messaging portal is a nice way to keep track of client communications, files, etc.
Cons
Unfortunately, it takes a while to build a good enough reputation that decent clients will consider you for lucrative jobs. Additionally -- and this is huge -- Upwork takes an enormous fee, 20%, on the first $500 of any job. At that point, the fee drops to "only" 10% (still huge). I do a lot of smaller one-off jobs that never reach the $500 mark, so I pay 20% on most of what I earn through Upwork. Additionally, if you initially connect with a client through Upwork, you have to work/get paid through the platform for a whopping 2 years before you're able to take your contract off-site. That 10-20% in fees really adds up over 2 years on long-term jobs.

Upwork is an awesome plateform for freelancers
It was my first experience working as a freelancer at Upwork, and it's been excellent till now. I have been learning and polishing my skills day by day as a professional freelancer. Upwork is doing a great job by providing online jobs worldwide. It's the fantastic platform ever.
Pros
Although I am doing a job, Upwork is still my favorite platform to utilize my spare time to use my skills as a freelancer. It’s a source of income for me. Upwork provides me the fastest way to interact with millions of freelancers worldwide. Almost every profession is available at Upwork, where we can utilize our skills to make money or get our project done. The way how to support the team of Upwork communicate with new freelancers is inspiring for me. They guide me at every stage to get my desire project. They told me how to build eye-catching proposals, set milestones, fix budgets, and more. Upwork also sharpens my skills, interacting with individuals to get hired for a specific project, making my communication skills better, an extra benefit of Upwork, and getting up. It’s not a complicated platform, easy to present yourself and your skills, convince the client and start earning by staying at home. Its job-finding mechanism is so cool; by applying filters, you can get the most favorite job. Freelancers bid for a proposal; instead, they can make their project sell out; it’s another fantastic feature for me.
Cons
Upwork has a strict policy for freelancers to use this platform reasonably. It's a fine thing, but when making a little mistake, they block your account witout telling the reason. In most cases, freelancers would not be able to withdraw the amount that they earned. But I am okay with it now, as these are requirements for fair use of this platform.

Best platform for Freelancing
Overall, Upwork to me is the best freelancing platform. I have used all the biggest platforms and in some of them, it is almost impossible to get jobs, in others, there are a lot of people trying to scam you. Upwork provides a great experience to the freelancers and I would recommend everyone to use it, as a client or as a freelancer.
Pros
Upwork is a pretty straightforward website to navigate. It has a lot of new jobs every second and, as a translator, it helped me a lot getting new clients and projects. 99% of my clients come from Upwork and I couldn't be more satisfied with the platform.
Its security is also a big advantage to the clients and the freelancers since it filters scammers that can be very common on other freelancing platforms.
Customer service has always been 5*.
From a client's point of view, if you need something done, there are thousands of professionals that can deliver high-quality services.
Cons
It can be a bit expensive working on Upwork since having a basic plan only gets you 10 connects per month but you can get up to 50 additional connects per week if the clients reply to your proposal.

Pros
Nothing, horrible experience with a company that does not do what it preaches.
Cons
I joined Upwork in March 2020 without initially having any intention to do any freelancing. A few days later, a client invited me to bid for their project. It was a very small project at that time, but it slowly became a much bigger project. I had some small contracts with other clients too, but rather small. I was in the top 3% of freelancers and used to get a few requests and invites for jobs every week.
Beginning of April, Upwork sent an email to both I and my main client to say that they were "reviewing" our contract. Now, mind you, that contract has been into place for a year and we never had any issues with it. They have asked us for a ton of papers and both me and the client provided them with everything. It was a painful process and then a few days later Upwork suddenly sent us an email (me and the client) saying that our accounts have been suspended.
This came as a big surprise, especially since they even wanted to disclose the reason behind it was. Both I and the client were honest, payment was being done timely and I always had 100% job success rate. Moreover, any other active contracts that I had were also cancelled, meaning there is no way to collect the money now from those clients nor from my biggest client either.
I have messages Upwork a few times and tried to understand why my account has been suspended, which again, they just ignored. It is a very frustrating experience when you pay over $3000 in commission to Upwork for a year and get shut down....

Great for Talent Acquisition
Really helpful when looking for certain people with certain skills or talent
Pros
Easy to use, has a very wide platform, and a lot of talented individuals on this app. Though we need to filter it carefully to avoid scams
Cons
Sometimes the notifications don't pop up which is sad because it's important so we can reply to talents and clients on time.

Professional workplace for Work Beyond the Borders
Overall Experience is Great. I like this workplace very Much due to Professional Environment and Professional Features offered i.e Mobile App Features, Bidding Features, Merit System, Interview System, Court System, Dispute System, Tracking System. all in all Great and Excellent product. I definitely recommend this workplace to all my friends and relatives. Thank You, Upwork.
Pros
This is Professional Workplace for work beyond the borders, especially for Freelancers. I Like this Workplace very much due to its Amazing Features and Services offered to both Clients and Sellers too. Its Bidding System is professional, Interview Environment is Professional, Jobs Features i.e Fixed Price Job and Hourly Jobs are Great. Its Security System is Amazing.
Cons
Sellers have to buy connects for bids on the jobs at a reasonable price. It's not fair. It Should be free to bid on any job because Sellers are here to earn money not to invest or not here to purchase something

Upwork works sometimes.
It has been great as an employer, but not so great as a gig seeker.
Pros
As a employer looking for contractors you are quickly and easily surrounded by a pool of talent to choose from.
Cons
As a gig seeker you are outnumbered, and often outbid by people who can afford to do the same job for less. If you don't already have reviews from clients, you will most likely not be selected.

Great for Remote work networking!
This software has made it more possible for me to connect with employers from around the world. Also, the platform protects the workers from a possible scam to occur with an employer.
Pros
I like most that this software allows people from all over the world to connect with each other in one big workplace.
Cons
What I like least is that you now will have to purchase connects in order to apply for a job. I think it's difficult for persons to be seeking jobs to get money and have to spend to get that job.
Alternatives Considered
IndeedReasons for Switching to Enterprise Suite
Upwork was chosen over other alternatives because its platform is the easiest to use and provides the best protection for both employees and employers.- Industry: Design

Once upon a time with Upwork!
Pros
More than 7 years ago, I stumbled on Upwork doing research on how to earn money from home, and I jumped on it. The interface was basic; easily accessible. I liked the functionality, although I wasn't able to get a client in my region then; i was still a newbie as at the time. I used the web based version then.
Cons
The only issue i had then was that i wasn't able to secure a client...maybe I wasn't patient enough. I like their service all the same.

Platform of Opportunities - For Some
Pros
As someone who's made a living by working on Upwork for 4+ years, once you reach a decent level in a field, there are enough job opportunities and pleasant people to work with to make a career out of.
Cons
Despite giving Upwork a 5-star rating, it's very difficult for me to recommend the platform because of just how hard the barrier of entry is.
Upwork experience means everything, while degrees and knowledge mean nothing - like an amazon product with thousands of reviews, the client will likely choose an Upwork veteran over a new and unproven freelancer.

Secure job payment
I know that Upwork is doing their best to improve their features and overall, I'm very satisfied with it! I like the free connects that they give and this tool is very easy to use even if you're just a first timer.
Pros
I love Upwork that it protects their users. You will be protected to scammers and secured that you will be paid because of the contract you are in. I like it that you can filter the job postings based on what suits you and they give free connects too!
Cons
The calls feature in the messages still needs to be improved. I know Upwork just rolled out the new policy wherein all calls should be made thru Upwork if there are no contracts yet, it'll be better if the quality will be realiable for video calls.

Freelancing Made Easy
Years ago I was a freelancer on the system offering my services and found the experience to be quite easy and the access to an enormous amount of work quite nice. As a client on the system now, I still find the system easy to use and effective for finding quick and short-term help for business projects.
Pros
I most like the access this platform provides to a global network of varied professionals, including graphic designers, videographer, data entry, data mining, and so much more.
Cons
Using the platform itself is easy but there is a learning curve on how to best find the perfect fit for the need. Reviews and portfolios are helpful but looking for warning signs of an improper fit of freelancer to the specific project need takes time to develop.

Good freelancing platform
Overall a great place to find clients even though some clients seem to think that freelancers don't need to earn a decent living, but that is not Upwork's fault. Payments are protected and offers a time tracking app.
Pros
Helps to find clients, good customer service. Messaging platform. Payments are protected. Time tracking application.
Cons
If you don't earn anything for a month, you need to pay for an account or they make your profile invisible. Even if you have been using their platform as a freelancer for years and earn them a lot of money. Commission of 20%. Had to prove identity after years of good reviews.

Get your job done on time by the experts through UpWork
Sometimes, me and my team become overloaded with tasks while we need to present the proposal to our customers. That time we require expert support and we do it through UpWork. Our overall experience in this regard is pretty good and we have a long standing relationship with some freelancers as well. UpWork impacted us positively and we rely on UpWork when we require.
Pros
UpWork is a very user-friendly software/platform for posting the jobs and getting the jobs done within the agreed timeline by the experts. It enables the job poster to interview the candidates and negotiate on the project. On the other hand, it helps the candidates to earn money and build a long-term relationship with the clients. It allows the both party to communicate globally.
Cons
I did not get anything least regarding UpWork.

Too Many Scammers
I am very frustrated with Upwork:
1 - too many scammers, asking you to talk over Telegram, Skype, and then basically ask you to pay upfront a deposit, software, before you can work with them.
2 - when you go back, you will find the message they sent to me over Upwork is removed, the job post is also removed that you can not flag it as inappropriate.
3 - Upwork is totally disappearing in the whole journey, you can never reach any useful person or email, all you can use is some FAQ, which is useless.
4 - Then what ends up is I am burning my 'connects' to scammers.
Pros
A popular and famous site for freelancer jobs
Cons
The use of connect, can't relate to the reward from the job.
