Easy to use!
Pros
The TUIO interface is really clean and simple, which makes it really easy to navigate (a welcome change from the last payment system which, as I said previously, looked like it was built in 1998 and left that way). When I did run into questions, TUIO got back to me right away and took care of the concern for me immediately, and they were very personable and professional about it.
Cons
The time I spent looking around and then calling customer service could have been avoided with some simple explanatory text and (potentially) making some options available to users.
I would have liked to have the option to choose either the payment plan that was set up for me, OR to pay the fee in one lump sum (note: when I spoke to TUIO about this, they processed the lump sum for me, but being able to do this without a call to customer service would have been nice).
Additionally, both my credit card and my bank account are in the TUIO system, yet for this particular payment I was only offered the option of using my bank account. I normally use my credit card for everything in order to take advantage of its perks, so again, just a little explanatory text as to why I didn't have the choice would have been nice. No one likes being left with questions, especially when it comes to our money!

You could contact us directly through the help beacon in your TUIO account anytime you need. The school may only be giving the option for bank account payment on the Tuition only, but if you ask them they may have accommodated you to use credit card (and of course we could have assisted from support). For other payments you should be able to use the credit card and take advantage of those convenience points.
You should be able to change payment plan before confirming payment, next year I am sure the school will give that option to select it as parent.

Great Customer Service
We are pleased with our partnership with TUIO - from the integration to the day to day operations - they have been with us every step of the way.
Pros
The TUIO team is very responsive and able to answer or resolve questions within 24 hours if not sooner. They always provide resources to help guide us in the right direction.
Cons
Some of the reports in TIOU are quite lengthy with lots of fields. It would be nice to be able to streamline the reports option so you can select the fields you need to see.

Not intuitive or easy to adjust for our needs
Not thrilled. The system meets our needs to a degree but has needed a lot of attention from our administrator to overcome the shortcomings. Some features that are integral to the function of a school are not offered at all with TUIO at this time.
Pros
Direct and immediate deposit of funds. Options for payment for our customers.
Cons
Editing and changing things that have been entered is not possible. We have to redo everything. The system only allows us to connect the account to one email address when a number of our clients have 2 emails associated with their account. This is ridiculous. For students with divorced parents it makes ZERO sense. We have had a lot of time and energy spent on making this program work for us, and we are frustrated with the experience overall.
If someone wants to adjust a payment method they have to redo the entire enrollment document.

Flexibility and customization is a core component of the TUIO system. You can edit invoices, payment plans, and forms at any time for instant changes, individually or in bulk.
For students with divorced parents who are paying separately they can have their invoices split up on separate accounts so each parent can manage their own payments independently, without having access to the other parent's account and information.
Payment methods and enrollment documents are separate items in TUIO. A payment method change would not impact the enrollment document, and vice versa. Parents can change their payment method at any time, and likewise they can easily resubmit an enrollment document with updates, since the system pre-populates their previous responses.

GREAT COMPANY
Overall, we love it and for our needs it works perfectly.
Pros
The ease of use for both parents and school. It's cost effective. TUIO is very helpful and gets back to me with in the hour during business hours and with in 24 hours after hours.
Cons
The only things our staff notice, is when we print the application, the subheadings are very light in color.

Promising but Not There Yet
There are some aspects that are not as intuitive as they should be (such as resending an activation email or the fact that an "active" parent does not mean that they are fully onboarded), but setting up payment plans and enrolling students was fairly easy.
Pros
The onboarding was quite easy and the platform is pretty easy to use.
Cons
We were devastated to learn that TUIO doesn't allow families to set up multiple payers for an enrollment. For families who have split households or get help from relatives or subsidy programs, etc., this adds an undue burden which feels discriminatory. It might seem like a big deal to the folks at TUIO who have made a promising platform, but the implications for our school culture and relationship with our families are significant.

We have always provided support for split households and family members getting help from another payor. TUIO was made to be as inclusive and robust as possible for any school/daycare organization's Tuition Management needs.
TUIO provides the flexibility to enroll students under multiple payors who each receive a portal to manage their payments. Parents can change their payment method at any time within a single enrollment, so different family members can set up payment for a given invoice.
Regarding the parent onboarding and activation, we just added a new filter option for Parent Account Status so you can filter out active vs inactive parents, and send the appropriate automated notifications.

A Good Payment Processing Option for Microschools
Overall, we have been pleased with our service. We recognize that TUIO is a growing company making great strides in the education management industry. I would recommend them to schools that are looking for a high-quality school management system with a conservative budget.
Pros
First, there's no monthly fee!! This is a major bonus for schools with a conservative budget. We also like how TUIO allows for billing and invoices to be processed automatically. Reminders are sent to families three days before payment processing. The service charge per transaction is minimal and can be set to be paid by the school or the families.
The onboarding process was thorough and smooth. [sensitive content hidden]
is an excellent customer support liaison. We receive quality, one-on-one customer service whenever we have questions.
Cons
The system is designed more for accountants or a finance team. Some of the filters and groupings are not intuitive. For example, looking up overdue invoices is (currently) a cumbersome process. This may be because we are not accounting savvy.

TUIO wins in customization and flexibility.
Pros
Customer service and the implementation specialists are top notch! The way the system organizes programs is easy and efficient.
Cons
The reported numbers are not actual figures. It would be preferable if the numbers detailed in the program totals and the dashboard were only the funds that the school actually collected/will collect. For functions like conversations and forms to be useful for the entire school, there needs to be a way to add users with limited access.

Helpful and efficient
Getting TUIO set up seemed to take a bit longer than figured, but the set-up team was very helpful, efficient, and available in every step of the process. The same can be said about their customer service, they are also very good, helpful, and commendable. There is always a quick response to any question or issue. The main reason we signed up with TUIO was to help with invoicing and payment processing, and TUIO has helped a lot with this.

This was the main reason we signed up with TUIO, although we realize there are several other features that are available. The customer service is very commendable! We always receive quick responses to emails and chat.
Cons
Setting up programs and registrations in order to create invoices seems a bit confusing. But with that, the customer service is always helpful! Having to do everything online is a small drawback. Some parents have also expressed their desire for a phone app, instead of having to go to a website.

Excellent Customer Service and Ease of Use
We have had a great experience with Tuio. The support that Tuio provides is exceptional. We can rely on [sensitive content hidden]

Pros
Tuio allows us to bill families easily and to keep track of transactions. We have also been able to design our own registration process which meets the needs of our school.
Cons
A feature that can be improved, is to allow parents to make payments before the due date. Also the ability to download and print forms from Tuio would be helpful.

Ease of use, no upfront fees and that fees are taken from the cutover as we are a school and would not be able to afford the system otherwise
Cons
The inability to link data, to see the student I’d - every time we need to pull new data to see the student ID. Hard to manage with pieces of information on different parts of the system - there should be a way to pull consolidated list with all system information

Fantastic Support Team
Pros
The support is fantastic. It's quick and very helpful. The videos are also beneficial for navigating support questions.
Cons
I haven't used it very long, so I constantly have questions as it is not as self-explanatory sometimes (such as when to use the actions button vs the three dots on the right). I hadn't even found the actions button until support pointed it out. Also, I would like more options to rearrange the the list in the enrollments (such as by last name, first name, paid, pending payment, etc as these are not available in enrolments tab). And you can only check overdue only in invoices tab, but I would like to see them in enrollments, too.

Thanks for the great review! The actions button is for making bulk actions, so you would want to select all or a segment of enrollments first to get that option. I've made a note for the feedback on the list filtering and will send it to our dev team, paid/pending however is more for the individual invoices that the 'Invoices' tab would show. You would be able to see those invoice statuses in the invoices tab of an enrollment once you click on the enrollment itself.

TUIO helps save time and it has helped us streamline our payments management
Cons
We are unable to process credit cards if a parent is at the center and wants to make a payment. The system has not been updated to add our EIN number to the invoices which is necessary for tax credits for parents. Also when we enter student details TUIO only generates invoice with one parent name so if the other parent wants to get a FSA credit from work they are unable to do so and we have to give them a manual invoice. Group messaging is not possible yet

Great customer service

New School Admissions
Pros
Collecting admissions information and associated tuition payments is my primary use and it generally works well. Building and maintaining custom forms is less than intuitive.

Building and maintaining custom forms is less than intuitive. More than once I mistakenly altered the form fields. Additionally, I'm unable to read the entire text when selecting from the form fields. This makes it very difficult to add the correct field to a new form.

Keeping accounts up to date and transparent!
TUIO has made administrative processes much easier. In addition to the payment processing options, TUIO has helped to create online registration forms and links. There is an increased level of organization and efficient procedures. The tech support and immediate response when we need help is amazing. Again this has added to the experience.

TUIO has made our payment processing procedures so much easier from the Administration end; payments are made easily and are trackable. Families are able to keep their accounts up to date and check their accounts easily. The automated messaging and reminders of withdrawals, missed payments, new charges etc., keeps the client families aware. All payments are traceable and can easily be tracked. The technical support that TUIO provides is wonderful as well. They are easy to reach and respond with solutions that work.

I can not comment on this. Anytime there was an issue or help was needed, TUIO responded.

Apart from the initial learning curve (it was my first time using this kind of program) it has been great. We had a manual spreadsheet system prior and TUIO has saved tons of time.

Regarding the charges, the reports on TUIO are customizable based on the selected filters, so it should be possible to reconcile the accounts accordingly without difficulty.

The support staff at TUIO is amazing, they are quick and very helpful.
Cons
The only 2 thing that I would like to see developed is to have a conversation to happen if a stop payment occurs before it happens. Sometimes the student is still enrolled in the program and they do a stop payment and that results in a charge. but if a conversation could occur before that would be better. The second thing that i would highly suggest to be improved is how withdrawals show up on parent's statements. since it is a series of numbers some people don't recognize what the payment is for.

Super satisfied with my TUIO's experience!
I am super happy with TUIO since my schools started working them in 2019. The support team is really reactive and very flexible with my multiple requests, I wouldn't want to change to another program.

I would reccommend TUIO to any private school that is looking for a student and billing management system.
Pros
TUIO is very customer service oriented. I have never had an issue that was not addressed with timeliness and accuracy. I felt like they were part of my team to run our school.

Hoping it gets better
The conversion happened fairly simply, and the payment processing has been exceptional, from my perspective. However we also want to use tuio as a student information management system and so far it's lacking. Also the reporting suck so far, but we have been told this will be improved in the next few moths/in 2024.
Pros
The links to fill out forms, the notifications and payment processing are wonderful. The service is also exceptional (customer service and attentiveness)
Cons
The reporting. Everything coming in an excel spreadsheet that must be manipulated is time consuming and not optimal

The support team is quick, thorough, and patient in guiding me through the program.
Pros
The payment process has been simplified for parents and administrators, making monthly, quarterly, or annual payments more efficient.
Cons
A few parents have had minor difficulties setting up their accounts, resulting in them reversing back to EFT which is frustrating for the school. Not sure if it's available, but if there was a support team to train/guide the parents, that would be great!!

You can absolutely easily see how much you've received, as the deposit payout amounts are shown on the invoice export (with the corresponding invoices for reconciliation purposes), as well as the applicable fees. We are transparent about the processing fees involved with online payments and we have columns for them on the export for calculating your expenses. I'll have support reach out to you to spotlight how easy it is to reconcile your payments. Even big 3rd party auditors have given us unsolicited feedback of how easy the TUIO export made their life during a school audit compared to previous systems the school used.

Disappointed and frustrated

Nothing. This product was useless for my child care facility and day home agency.
Cons
This program is useless for my business and the features they promised (that could actually help with my admin tasks) were actually not available. I can't use it and I tried to cancel before I even rolled it out to my parents; I still have to pay for the full 3 years. They did nothing except a one hour session to tell me how to do the things I was told they would do.

We are available anytime to help you post-onboarding, including unlimited training and support when needed. We have several daycares in Alberta using TUIO to great success so I'm not sure where the notion you can't use us for billing is coming from. You had been contacted by the billing department to explain the ramifications of cancelling the contract early. I've contacted you personally to discuss things and hope we can resolve this to where you are a long term client enjoying TUIO.

TUIO Changed My Life
TUIO has saved me countless hours on accounting and now I have more free time to hang out with the kiddos - which is what I love to do! I also love that TUIO doesn't cost me an arm and a leg - I am a small business and the cost of the software was a big factor for me. TUIO charges me $1.50 per invoice processed (this can be passed on to the person paying the invoice if you choose). TUIO charges my families $0 if they pay via checking account and standard credit card fees if they pay via credit card. After using TUIO for nearly a year, I feel this is an exceptional value. I highly recommend!!

TUIO has changed my life! I have a small after school child care business and I also offer summer camps. Previous to TUIO, I was emailing an invoice every month and families were submitting payment via Venmo. I was spending many hours a month on invoicing and was tracking everything manually for end of year reporting. I recently expanded my child care business and I needed a simple way to set up monthly invoicing with an auto pay option for my enrolled families. TUIO has been the perfect solution. The software is easy to use, offers intuitive enrollment set up and there are many reports that you can pull for more detailed data analysis. With TUIO, I enroll a family one time in my program and set up their payment plan for the year. The system sends an email to the parent to set up their payment information that authorizes all invoices for the year. Every month when the payment is processed, it is automatically deposited into my business account and the parents receive an email receipt. TUIO is so easy to use for this purpose. I can't say enough good things about it!
Cons
TUIO is an accounting system for childcare services. It doesn't have all the extra bells and whistles of check in/out, messaging services and in depth student profiles that some software has. I didn't want or need those extra features for an after school program -- TUIO does exactly what I was looking for. Setting up new "Program" can be tricky. I have only done it twice - once for the school year enrollment and once for summer camp enrollment. Since I don't do it often, I set up a video chat with TUIO customer service and they have helped me both times. TUIO customer service is AMAZING by the way. They are responsive and available.

Easy to use, snappy payment system
So far, we have only used it as a payment system, which is what it started out as. Next, we plan to add a registration piece, where parents and students will fill out their registration information directly into the system, something we don't currently have. After that, we would like to use it more for student information, and if it works out well, we would then ditch Zoho. (We really like Zoho as a database, but it wasn't made for schools and is not ideal in that regard.) The biggest thing Tuio would have to improve before we leave Zoho is its communication piece. In Zoho, we can make attractively designed mass messages to send to parents; there is no such capability yet in Tuio.We have been quite satisfied with Tuio's software and especially appreciative of their customer support. A couple of years ago, we did a total re-do of all of our software systems. We have been happiest with Tuio.
Pros
We love Tuio! It was fairly easy to learn, the interface is attractive and generally easy to use, it is has a very quick response time, and the customer support is stellar. I like that it's a small company, so we know the people who support us. They always try to help us when we don't understand something, or help us to make something work when our company's round peg doesn't fit well into their square hole (not unique to Tuio -- we have that problem with lots of software -- but they are eager to help us find workarounds). They are also open to suggestions, particularly since the product is fairly new and they are working on building it.Also, a huge plus is for us is that there was no setup fee, and instead of a monthly charge, Tuio charges by the transaction. It is affordable for our small school, and doing it by transaction means that we have to pay less when we have fewer transactions (and less money to pay a monthly fee).
Cons
--We have students in many countries, but there are some issues with Tuio in that regard. Part of that is their payment processor, which doesn't work as well with payments in some countries, a problem we didn't have with our previous processor. Also, their parent/student contact information fields are rigidly set to (XXX) XXX-XXXX format, which does not fit our foreign customers. So, for schools that only have customers in the US or Canada (Tuio is from Canada), neither of these would be issues at all. --We are subscription based, but Tuio is designed around defined payment plans. This has created some headaches for us. They have said they are working on creating the ability to have subscription plans, so once that is done, this will no longer be a problem for us.--We do a substantial percentage of our payments through PayPal, but they don't have a way to incorporate PayPal, so we have to enter PayPal transactions as cash, which is not convenient.--While Tuio is mostly easy to use, some things here and there are not intuitive.

With regards to the communications piece, we are going to expand on what we have currently and add the ability to make templates and do more broadcasting. In the meantime, you could send mass messages on TUIO with a pdf attachment (that was attractively designed), but I understand where you are coming from. We are working on a global search, support for international phone numbers, and we still have the "payment clock" in our development pipeline.
