CIN7 is Great for the Middle Tier company looking to move from small business

CIN7 was easy to implement into our Techstack, When placing orders on CIN7 it was made with ease. But CIN7 only works with small to mid-level businesses. If your company continues to grow, You will grow out of CIN7.

Pros

CIN7 works excellently as a Sales Tool, CRM, and Order Management software when connecting your eCommerce platform. it is excellent for Small businesses looking to get a grip on a more enterprise-level Inventory Management system.

Cons

CIN7 works great for a company not focused on manufacturing and just distribution. Due to CIN7 not being able to Commit stock for Backorders. Also not being able to have a Barcode System is a negative aspect.

Alternatives Considered

Reasons for Choosing Cin7 Omni

CIN7 in the first 6 months

With most software companies such as SAP or Dynamics you would have on-boarding members onsite for a period of time and people on the phone while you transition. I felt that the on-boarding system used by CIN7 is very frustrating, you have to watch several academy videos to teach yourself the system and everything is done by emails that take a while to be answered and zoom calls. If you are stuck and just want to press on you are hindered my the time it takes to get the answers you need or actions in place. That said My on-boarding members are very proactive and knowledgeable and have helped create and manipulate functionality. Overall I am really pleased with the results and the future possibilities now we are using cloud based systems and CIN7. Our day 1 transition to completely move away from our old system went a smooth as can be and by day 2 the business was 95% functioning normally with almost all orders out the door. I take that as a result and look forward to integrating more systems and apps via API in the coming months.

Pros

Moving to a new system is always a worry for a multi currency multi million pound business. I felt the transition from an outdated desktop system was pretty smooth. The import features are excellent and extremely flexible for Customer/Supplier lists, stock,PO's and SO's. The ability to have multiple currency cost pricing on inventory items is excellent. Adding contract and discount pricing to clients on an individual bases works really well. Stock kits or BOM work nicely and the connection to our external accounting package seems solid.

Cons

I feel the WMS side for the warehouse needs more attention. The ability to see more order detail from the order screen is required, the ability to expand an order view from that screen would have been really useful to see what items are on the job as a minimum without having to release to pick to see the order. The packing section does not allow to select multiple orders to the same destination for packing together. Not being able to allocate a supplier bill to multiple PO's without merging them into a single PO.

Reasons for Choosing Cin7 Omni

To become cloud based and more flexible with API integration. The ability to have multi currency costing of products was key as well as serial number and batch tracking.

Reasons for Switching to Cin7 Omni

Initially I wanted and all in one ERP so everything was managed under one roof. The costs for most of the systems I looked at were expensive annually but mainly for the on-boarding. CIN7 has an extremely competitive monthly cost and the on-boarding was a fraction of the cost.

Worst Inventory System - RUN

Run away - please do yourself the favour. It looks great from the outside, which is why we chose it. Spend a bit more money and invest in a good product

Pros

Functionality & Support

Pretty reasonable. Our final Onboarding specialist was very knowledgeable, organised for our meetings and prompt with responses and actioing requests.

Pros

Integration with Shopify and Xero was easy. As we implemented all three programs at once it has been alot to take on board but Cin7 seems to be doing what it needs to.Went through a number of onboarding specilaists which was not ideal. We were not given reasons for the turnover. Our final specialist who saw us through the go live process was brilliant. Made himself available when we needed, followed up on actions and explained thinsg clearly.

Cons

Having so many onboarding specialists was not ideal for continuity of our onboarding. So much to cover off in a short period and it is not until you are actually live that you understand what you dont know. WOuld be good to have a customer success manager post go live and onboarding to meet weekly for a period of 6 weeks say to ensure things are bedded in well and you get an opportunity to explore greater use of the program as you learn more about how it works in a real life setting

Fundamentally changed every single thing that we do with every single order that we process. Has made it so that instead of five people inputting orders and potentially messing up because they were trying to go so quickly while doing other things, they're now freed up for other things!

Pros

Aman Solanki. Honestly, potentially the best help I've ever received for any product. Truly wouldn't be live on Cin7 without him, and I can't give him enough thanks. Knowledgeable without trying to lie about any limitations, insightful on different options I could explore without being over-complicated; everything you could ever want. Truly, truly incredible customer service.

Cons

Tax should be applied to individual items, rather than solely nominal codes / GL accounts - sure, I could create loads of accounts, but would be nice to be able to edit on each product. Also, would be nice if the selection for sales account showed whether it was purchases or sales, and the tax level.

Horrible service and way too buggy for the price

Very poor. Expensive, buggy and the price increases are ferocious.

Pros

Lots of features and capabilities similar to ERP platforms without the cost or complexity of ERP.

Cons

Pricing is punitive to smaller businesses and you are forced to pay far too much when only using certain parts of the platform. The customer service is dreadful and the platform is riddled with bugs that take months, and sometimes years, to be fixed.

We were on the verge of cancelling our subscription and signing up with Fishbowl. We are have now commenced our live transisioning and look forward to this product and support services living up to our expectations.

Pros

I felt that overall the procuct functionality and options was pleasently surprising.I look forward to trying to utilise as much as we can moving forward.

Cons

Our initial onboarding experience was quite herrific and I found the onboarding process not quite flexibble enough or detailed enough to allow us to fully understand and utilise the product to its best ability. This process delayed our project start date by at least a month. We were how ever able to move on after allocation of another specialist.

Pros

We had [sensitive content hidden] as our onboarding manager, and he was exceptional. He was very helpful, prepped for our meeetings, and adaptable with all our requests. He made the experience super easy, and smooth from our first contact to complication.

Cons

When I reached out to cin7 at the start, it took close to 7 weeks to get onto someone who could help us. I sent in multiple sales call requests and emails, but no one got back to me. I had to get in contact with someone through the support team rather than the sales team.

DO NOT USE CIN7 - No Telephone Support!!

Software is good but the company's attitude towards its customers is very poor, they don't care about you or your business's success, you just represent money in their pockets.

Pros

Cin7 initially offered us a great package, it has a lot of features which are great for running our business

Cons

The person who onboarded us was not great and wasn't a great experience, but the worst thing of all is that they've recently REMOVED PHONE SUPPORT. Considering we rely on Cin7 to run our business this is hugely counterproductive for us and we have to rely on an absurd ticketing system which makes resolving issues very time-consuming, frustrating and drawn out. When another equivalent platform shows up in my inbox I wouldn't hesitate to investigate and jump ship if it meets our needs, Cin7 is just another money-grabbing corporation that couldn't care less about its customers.

High-Powered Tech for a Fraction of the Cost

We are so excited to finally be done with unbelievably inferior products! Every concern we had with our previous inventory management software has been solved with Cin7, and it has combined a few different programs we were paying for, so we're also saving money! Our implementation specialist [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] was FANTASTIC; incredibly personable, very patient and helpful, and just delightful to talk to.

Pros

First of all, the price is impossible to beat for the amount of modules and capabilities Cin7 provides. Where they really shine is the understanding of how technically complicated their software is. They understand that it's not as intuitive as the more expensive options, and they make up for that difficulty by providing a dedicated implementation specialist to make sure the people using the software understand how to properly use it.

Cons

As mentioned in the Pros, it's not the most user-friendly software. They definitely help with the training (both with the implementation specialist and the Cin7 Academy), but there's definitely room for improvement on the UX side.

Quickbooks Commerce (fka TradeGecko) was a disaster from the start, but it was the only affordable option for our size at the time. When the employee who set up the store connections left the company and was thus Deactivated as a user, we ended up with a broken connection for just over a month. We had contacted Customer Service (which you can only do via email because they no longer provide a working phone number) immediately upon realizing orders weren't being imported, and it took them two weeks to even figure out WHAT happened since, according to the software, everything was fine. It took another two weeks for them to fix it and at that point our inventory counts were completely wrong. We had been considering a switch for months, and that incident made it a necessity.

Great onboarding experience, Great product

Pros

I love both the integrations and the wide range of features provided by the platform - we were working on around 7 different systems previously with no collaborations between the platforms. This meant lots of manual input and frequent order mishaps (incorrect stock levels, lost orders etc).Massive shoutout to our onboarding specialist, [sensitive content hidden] - so prompt in fixing any issues we had during the onboarding process and provided flexibility for myself and my colleague to learn in our own styles. Very personable and friendly to boot - every meeting was a blast.

Cons

I'm hesitant to say just yet as I'm still learning the full deoth of capabilities. Currently there is still some manual pains with our invoicing process for shipping/freight charges as our selling model doesn't support tiered shipping options. Would be awesome if there could be a Starshipit (or equivelant) integration to the B2B portal so shipping prices could be generated based on delivery location and order weight on checkout.

My overall experience is highly positive. The UX is great. Our integration specialist [sensitive content hidden] was incredibly patient and helpful throughout the entire process. Despite some internal challenges regarding our particular product (highly customizable), the overall functionality of Cin7 is exactly what our business needs for effective inventory and warehouse management.

Pros

Integration was simple. The product is mostly intuitive and it possesses all (or most) of the features necessary to manage the inventory for our business needs. The reporting and insights are robust and useful. The ability to import and export products, stock-takes, and BOMs via CSV file or direct copy and paste is especially useful when handling large amounts of data.

Cons

Some low-level or simple processes that intuitively seem like they should be easy are complex or difficult to achieve. Some processes are opaque and difficult to understand why a particular module doesn't function in an expected manner. The lack of NetSuite integration is a negative for our particular business.

We have only been live for two weeks but so far we have seen an increase in efficiency in order processing and inventory management. Having all of our data in one centralized location will have multiple benefits over time.

Pros

Most features are relatively intuitive, decent amount of customization options, native integrations with Amazon/Shopify, able to integrate with our 3PL

Cons

The Quickbooks integration was not seemless as is was made out to be in onboarding. We are currently stuck with some lack of functionality that makes our Accountant's manual workload increase due to having to adjust every invoice that comes over from Cin7. More transparency up front on the lack of features there would have been critical.

Great product but ZERO support

Nearly 10 years of use.The product is great but the support is terrible. Harf to recommend to a new user as they would need a lot of support to get up and running.

Pros

Easy to use and a lot of functionality.Interfaces easily into Shopify and Xero.Great for running a small manufacturing and online business.

Cons

We have been using CIN7 for almost ten years.Great product with a lot of features and is reasonably priced. The reason for the low rating is that the support is woeful. If you can actually get someone to resend, then they are very professional and offer great support - the challenge is to get someone to respond.Tickets stay open for months; you have to chase and chase and chase. If you rang in continuously, eventually you would get someone - they have now stopped incoming calls.Chat is offline more than online.Sending a ticket in - is just a void.Hopefully, they will improve as the product is very good.

Best Account Support EVER

From the onboarding process to our current operations, I have been extremely pleased with the Cin7 Enterprise Support. My On-Boarding specialist walked me through the process quickly and accurately.

I have had 2 account representatives and both are smart and responsive. My current representative, [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] is absolutely OUTSTANDING. As long as she is on my account, I will NOT consider moving to other software solutions.

We are a small business and each of us are multitasking. We do not have time to become experts on any one system. We must have effective and efficient customer support and we have that with Cin7.

Pros

The software has all of the functionality we need for a growing retail business.

The best thing about Cin7 is my account representative [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN]. I have 35 years of experience with installing, managing, and supporting large telecommunications networks; both in the US Army and in the US commercial sector. Without a doubt, [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] is the best account representative I have experienced in my career. She is bright, proactive, responsive, professional, and solves challenges rapidly. If I could, I would hire [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] join my team in Beaumont, TX. She is hands down the best.

Cons

I would like to see the following automated capabilities.
1. Pre-Order, Back Order, and Split order capabilities. With an automated back order capability, with automated email notifications to customers, we would make more sales.
2. Integrate with BigCommerce's gift wrap option to print "Gift Wrap" on invoices. This will allow our fulfillment team to know when the customer purchases gift wrap.

Response from Cin7

Hi David, thanks for the awesome review!
Happy to hear your experience with the Cin7 software has been very functional for your growing business. Cin7 is a decision we don't regret.

We started with Cin7 before the pandemic hit. They have you partnered with someone to help with set up and then when you go live. We went live April 2020. I missed having easy access to someone to help us, answer questions, do minor configurations that we saw we needed. After a few months, we went to premier level. That was the smartest thing. We had a direct contact, weekly calls, any tickets or requests were managed timely. After 6 months or so, "we got it", and have been on our own. Still send in random support tickets, but I am proud of our whole team that we know how to leverage the tool.

Pros

Our end goal was to use Shopify. Cin7 was the inventory management solution that made the most sense. We could also integrate with Xero and ShipStation. One transaction flows through the tool the same way, whether I start in POS, Shopify or Cin7 back end. Makes it seamless for our team to process. I trust the data. This is one source of truth.

Cons

We are an apparel wholesaler, so we have learned to look at style-color-size different. We would like to be able to scan both customer orders and inventory transfers or counts. That isn't fully enabled yet.

Good overall

Cin7 was great other than I needed specific functions that were not available yet although I believe they are available now.

Pros

Cin7 has a good user interface and is quite user friendly.

Cons

During the time I used it, Cin7 was still adding new integrations and functions and what I needed was still not available.

Warehouse mangement system that has all the features

Generally, this is a very useful system and once you understand how to use it, it is very beneficial. Even with the glitches, I would still recommend it, this product has so many different features, and I believe that you can find a way to run every warehouse, no matter how unique your systems are. This is a system that has so many features and you can use them all or just those that suit your needs. Cin7's onboarding is extremely expensive, but necessary, because setting it up right with someone to guide you is a must.

Pros

The most useful features in Cin7 is the ease of integration with Xero and Woocommerce. It was easy to connect and Xero connected easily. Also the B2B store is Cin7 best feature and easiest application to use and manage and has given me so much time back as no longer have to manually invoice each client.

Cons

This product is on the pricey side and at times Cin7 can be a little glitchy, such as when completing an invoice it does not always transfer to the Xero Dashboard immediately, or the stock transfers on a sales invoice do not happen correctly and it comes up with an error, yet still completes the sales invoice and I then have to go in an manually alter each stock item. Also in the Woo-commerce platform the client names on orders do not always come through correctly, the system always messes these up.

Great overall Inventory Management system.

It's more accurate and more robust. Also easier to do bulk updates of inventory counts.

Pros

Overall I like that it provides a robust inventory management system with room to grow.

Cons

The one thing I would love to see is for them the make it easier to add all available variant to a purchase order at one time.

An amazing Cloud-Based Inventory Management Platform for Growing Businesses and much more

I am very impressed with Cin7 and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a robust and flexible inventory system. It's helping streamline my work processes, improve my productivity and efficiency, and deliver high-quality results.

Pros

It's highly customizable and very easy to get familiar with, it's user friendly and very intuitive as well!

Cons

I wish it had a better integration with shipping carriers such as DHL or Fedex it is possible to use this carriers only if an app is installed and downlad but it would be great if they could be directly integrated with Cin7.

Good value and Good fit for what we needed

CIN7 has enabled us to move most of our data out of manual spreadsheets and into the system. We are looking forward to integrating CIN7 with an inventory planning and forecasting tool to further automate many of our manual processes.

Pros

As a smaller start-up company, we were looking for fairly basic inventory management and order management functional that was not over complicated and not overly expensive. CIN7 delivers sold core functionality in both areas with very reasonable pricing and well developed interfaces with key business software packages.

Cons

Training could be a little more robust. Training videos get you some good basics, however lacking when trying to set up some more complicated work flows such as production jobs and kitting and bundling.

Cin7 has a wide range of features and functions which can be a little daunting at times but also makes it such a useful tool.

Cons

There is no way to bulk invite B2B customers, you have to manually type everyone's name and invite them separately.Once you downloaded products from Shopify you can't download any newly added variants from Shopify, have to create the same variant in Cin7 and delete the mapping and remap them.

Really good, but there have definitely been questions that have arisen after the Implementation period. It was hard to cover everything that might be needed. Sometimes my questions to Support have been answered quickly and at other times it has taken a few weeks.

Pros

Inventory Reports.Product page set up and design - easy to understand and drill down.Cin 7 Help features and Academy

Cons

We have used 'Production Jobs' to create ski+binding packages/kits so the complete kit can be shown in stock, but now we cant see the individual components on the packing slips for our warehouse to pick.If we 'load BOM' on the Sales order then it takes more components out of stock again. We may need to approach you for a dev ticket for this. We need the kits to be available on the B2B, so we cant leave as individual components and just make when we do a Sales order.

Pros

Easy to use and obtain movement of a product with 1 click by checking the last 50 transactions. I wish there was a way to check more than 50 from the same feature, rather than running a report.

Cons

Product jobs often have problems being completed. Contacted support on numerous occasions but couldn't resolve. When a master code is build with SN and 10 serial numbers are entered, the production job often fails when completed and erases the serial numbers and the quantity being entered. Once clicked manually on the qty. box and have the SNs entered again, it always works. Components are in stock, but the production job module is having hard time completing from one attempt. Recent January 2023 update shows 50 last transactions in a different way, where now PO's show as "IN" and Sales Orders show as "OUT" while they havent been received, nor invoiced. Used to simply show "Open" and it was much clearer. Now everything is OUT or IN even if there's no movement.

Great software when it works - Shame about the slow and hard to access customer service

Good product in general - terrible customer service

Pros

As a complete inventory and order management system it is pretty good and easy to use and understand for anyone who has worked with ERP's before. I requires minimum set up if your business doesn't require any integrations. Easy to upload and download information.

Cons

If something "breaks" it takes forever for Customer Service to reply to your queries or issues, even critical ones. There's no-one to call, you can only create a case online and hope for the best. I've had issues or requests for integrations which have taken months to get a reply. If you are lucky enough to get someone in the chat service to chat to you, all they say is that you need to create a case online and wait for an answer. This problem has gotten worse in the past 12 months. If it continues, we might look into changing software for our business.
