An EMR that Sincerely Strives to Meet its Clients Where They Are At & With Exceptional Service
The answer to safeguarding and organizing your patient information that integrates easily across platforms and per user. EMRs have much to do and KIPU does such a great job at it and that deserves recognition and praise.
Pros
I had been out of the business for a few years, with previous experience with EMRs and EHRs mostly from 2011-2013, so this was my first software to use since then, in a residential inpatient substance abuse care facility (ASAM Level III), and KIPU proved utterly worthy of this review and more. Not only is it an intuitive interface, for seemingly everyone, across the spectrum of positions and experience, it is COMFORTABLE using. I cannot say that for the majority of software in this industry, and I realize that that can be largely attributed to the innate complexity and vast array of information inherent to the field of healthcare, but KIPU really is in it to win it: win with unparalleled accessibility, a team of customer service gurus who are actually PRESENT (in not in actual in person, then as close to that as possible; something that to me, means everything) and who deliver upon their solutions and help, and persistent adherence to creating the best experience for all those who use the software, keeping in tune with industry changes, client feedback, and an unwavering effort to betterment largely unmatched by its competitors. But mostly, its the ease of use and unmatched team of customer service agents that do it for me.
Cons
There were a few places where the intricacy won out over simplicity of use; where the user had to keep in mind and remember certain nuances behind respective components (ex: Golden Thread) in order for it to function and coordinate seamlessly and across the platform. Otherwise, very little cons with KIPU. And an immense THANK YOU to such a wonderful, client-based team of truly helpful people who CARE.

Comprehensive EMR System
In the previous application we were using, we were regularly experiencing technical difficulties including outages. Kipu has provided a more stable platform that has proved easier to implement daily as well as less downtime and more time spent with the clients.
Pros
Sorting has been helpful with clients. Being able to access clients' data using partial matches as well as first and last names has helped. The flexibility of the program has been useful as well.
Cons
Sometimes when entering data in the text fields (i.e., the dates), if I switch to another box before the box updates and start entering the data in the previous box is not saved especially when the ordering of the items has been changed (as when it alphabetizes it)

Just Ok for Nursing
Just ok but could use some improvement from a nursing point of view.
Pros
As a nurse it is a fairly simple to use product. It looks modern and is not a "cluttered" program.
Cons
Not a real "task list" like hospital EMR's have. I wish there were a home screen timeline of tasks. I wish that the screen did not refresh every time a PRN medication is selected. It would be so much faster to complete med pass if it just had check boxes for the PRNs and you could select multiple at one time. The program would make communicating between the entire care team easier if there were some types of notifications to the providers when notes were placed by nursing into the client's charts. Being able to input vital signs from the information page of the client's chart would be nice as to not have to click two pages to get there.

Been using it for years and I absolutely love it. I recommend it every where I go if there using something different.
Pros
If I do have a problem there is always someone to talk to and resolve my issue quickly.
Cons
Don’t really have one. It’s basically a do it all system.

Kipu Review
I like using KIPU and have used similar products, it is by far the easiest to learn and to teach.
Pros
I like that it is easy to use and navigate. Also, when I am training a employee it seems easy for them to catch on to as well.
Cons
Its has gone down twice since I have been an employee at my job, and that is only a little over six months.

KIPU IS VERY EXPENSIVE FOR NO REASON
They are too commercial . They just want your money . No need to pay $560 for maintenance and more daily charges whereas you can get very good platforms at 10 percent KIPU price

VERY PRICEY ! Stay away . When you need your records for an audit they will not allow you to access them if you don’t have an active account ! There is other systems that do the same thing at 10% the price

Best Reporting Features, Visually Pleasing & User Friendly
I overall think this is the best, they have the best reporting and the most thorough documenting capabilities, I also like the layout, I have also used best notes and in comparison that seems like an old windows 95 version of a software compared to KIPU which is a visually pleasing, user friendly, streamlined web based one.
Pros
I use a lot of the features that include pulling reports on an almost daily basis in which to code and bill from as a certified medical coder and biller. I have seen how thorough and accurate the reporting is and the software is able to quickly pull this necessary information for me to reference as I'm going through it to ensure accuracy for billing. Kipu has had great documentation features and allows the clinicians to do their job so that people like us can just use the great software and take care of the behind the scenes RCM (revenue cycle management) aspect.
Cons
I think it is a really great software, I have noticed that different facilities make use of the customizations and really utilize all that it has to offer while others do not. I feel that some also have issues with documentation completion within a reasonable time frame for billing and it might be helpful to have more alerts in the forms that they need to review/ complete, or have form templates/drop downs when asking particular questions, etc.
Also, when searching for a patient name sometimes I may type it with a small typo and it will show with no results, I wonder if there is a way to have it populate if it is a close match such as "Thomas and Tomas". Like how google does "did you mean?.. " and show close options. because that would save time with having to go back and forth too.

Kipu Capabilities
Overall, my experience has been proactive. I can see if the patient left AMA previously and what transpired while they were in the facility. This information is a valuable tool in order to keep everyone safe.
Pros
What I like most about Kipu is the ease of going from one tab to another. I can look at a patients last chart to better understand changes, or lack of changes. I can easily find new patients from their picture, number, and location. I can see who needs to see the doctor or ARPN on that day. Most of all, if a mistake has been made, it can be fixed. No more crossing out in pen with one line and 'error' written along with initials. Also, preadmission and insurance information is already on Kipu before I start an intake, so I'm not going in blind, nor do I have to spend time finding this information, which helps the process for the patient go easier.
Cons
I have no input. I love Kipu. It was easy to learn and it generates information so that I don't have to keep repeating manually.

Substance Abuse Treatment Center Director of Operations Kipu Review
Kipu helps our organization keep all of our compliance items in order. It helps us keep our clients straight and allows for quick identification with the photos on the main page.
Pros
Kipu is very simple to use. All of our operations/medical/clinical staff use Kipu daily, so it is vital that we can easily train staff on EMR and have them begin using immediately. The customization is also a big selling point for us - we can lay things out as we wish and build the reports we desire.
Cons
We haven't had to use customer service very often in the last two years, but we have switched account reps a couple times, which always makes you worry a bit.

I have used it to it's fullest in other facilities, I have enjoyed that. I wish that this facility would utilize all the features to make it easier for complete client care.

I like that I am able to see the roster in a glance. I also like that I am able to go into provider notes to double check orders.

KIPU Makes Documenting Seamless!!

Pros
As a therapist KIPU offers a great product for the mental health field. This system is easy to use, navigate and is relevant to the functions I must perform on a daily basis. KIPU's seamless end to end system allows me to chart the progress of my patient, write progress notes, treatment plans, intakes, discharges, medical charts, clinical assessments all in one place. KIPU is by far one of the easiest systems I have used and takes all the stress out of documenting and notetaking. Love this system would highly recommend it!!

I think there are ways we could be utilizing Kipu to assist with scheduling which I believe is an available option in kipu, it is just not being utilized by my company at this time.

My overall experience is actually pretty good. It was very easy to learn, especially when someone else had the knowledge that they could show me and it's easy to explain. The interface and adding forms can be a difficult but only because they delete or they delete other information entered. But other than that keep you is amazing and the core functions are just really convenient

Most User Friendly EMR
This EMR makes it very easy to see someone's progress in treatment, track their overall health, see their medications and provide notes about their participation in the treatment milieu.
Pros
I absolutely love the ease of use and how user friendly it truly is. The EMR is truly self explanatory. The options to auto-popukate documents based on what you need is incredible.
Cons
I haven't found anything recently to be bothersome. The improvement of KIPU through the years has been amazing.

I've been using it for just under 6 years and have been happy with the product.
Pros
The system is very user friendly. I use it daily taking group notes, entering daily updates, group assignment, and ROI's and consents.
Cons
Nothing at this time. When I first started using it the page didn't update as quickly as it does now. I lost some work in the beginning.

Working with KIPU daily doing admissions for a recovery center, makes client portals so much...
Great !!
Pros
Kipu is an essential tool!! It individualizes each client with all the outcomes of the team notes and therapy, nursing, incidentals, and labs, toxicology well as their intake property and releases. From the moment they are in the door until they are discharged this is an effective tool for client tracking and support.
Cons
I feel there is improvement for better photos for property and client belongings should have an upgraded system of what is given to the client to use and what is restricted and photos.

The Lie of “the gold standard”
I could honestly go on for days about why I don’t like this software but the biggest part is the lie of them calling themselves “the gold standard” on EHR when I’ve used cheaper softwares that are 10x more effective and efficient. I’ve been nothing but disappointed since day 1 of using Kipu. It’s caused me so much frustration and my team and I have to keep up with things on spreadsheets and paper still just to be able to stay organized when (for the cost of this software) should never have to use outside tools to run our program. Several things I’ve asked for Kipu responds with “Kipu doesn’t support this feature at this time” and it’s simple things that every other software I’ve used does with no question” so…..”Rachel does not support Kipu at this time” lol 😂

Nothing at all…honestly disappointed about all features accept that it’s hippa compliant just like any other. It looks pretty like the face sheets are cute.
Cons
-- Calendar and notes are not connected. The calendars on EHR's typically will connect appointments on calendar with the clinical note and will pre-populate date, time, service type, client name, billing provider, diagnosis codes, (and possibly tons of other important information) that the clinician shouldn't have to click or choose. This creates organization and efficiency and saves a lot of time and frustration. Kipu doesn’t do this - Calendar will suddenly stop working and won't allow me to push buttons or choose time of service without reloading the whole program.-terrible customer service: you have to write tickets for every problem and cannot talk on the phone to a person. It just took me 3 days to communicate back and forth about an issue with a calendar glitch where unwanted appointments won’t delete….the issue still isn’t resolved I’m on to day four. They’re response is for me to tell them the times the appointment are and have them delete them for me Lol 😂 like THATS an effective solution….I don’t have time to submit a ticket every time I need to delete something from my own calender…….and Don’t expect a response faster than 24 hours.

Cons
I do not like that all forms and fields are not retrievable. Some forms may be deleted and lost forever. I believe there should be an approval process or all forms should be able to be retrieved.

KIPU Is Absolutely Amazing
It's everything you want in an electronic medical program. After a two-month "learning curve," I was able to appreciate all of the everyday benefits of the KIPU EMR. My company relies heavily on KIPU for communication with each other. Everyone in our office uses it, and we can see each other's entries.
Pros
I like being able to share documents with Clients' parents, allow them to review the documents online, and have the parent sign the document even though they are not in the same room with you. Parents can be in another state or another part of the country, and they can still access any document I share with them.
Cons
It took me approximately two months to learn all of the tools needed to make KIPU an "everyday" user friendly system for myself. I like everything about KIPU. It's (now) easy to navigate, and it's the "end all, be all" system for all of my company's electronic medical record needs.

We LOVE Kipu!
It has allowed us to win awards for what we do. Nobody knows how important the EMR system is, behind the faceplate of the organization. All of our data, which fuels our decisions, comes from Kipu. All of our billing comes from Kipu. We love it!

Great performance, flexible to add and modify
Outstanding customer service and responsiveness for all aspects of business. Being web based makes it easy to access from any platform. Super easy to use and has intuitive guidance for building features. Currently, t Kipu is the only software which has successfully integrated FASMs with Florida DCF's Carisk System.

Kipu has improved the way we document what happens in our programs.
Pros
My favorite thing about Kipu is the customer support. Every time I have called Kipu to get an issue resolved the support team has been beyond helpful and always lead me towards a resolution of the issue. They are friendly and they know what they are talking about. If they don't know the answer they are willing to do the research and find it. I am very pleased with all the help I have received. I also think it is great how customizable the system is. We can set it up to work specifically with our needs. Thanks Kipu.
Cons
Some features are a bit complicated. Working on templates and forms can be difficult and requires training and experience.

Professional yet easy to use.
I use KIPU daily I work in the substance abuse industry, and I oversee documentation it is easier for me to review documentation and make sure timelines and documentation is correct. Using Kipu makes this task much easier. It is easy to learn and user friendly.
Pros
I like the Golden thread as it helps to connect treatment plans and goals while helping the therapist to save time for the therapist. The SMART GOALS suggestions help to bring easy to treatment plans. The Whiley worksheets are also another benefit that help making healing easy and professional. I also like the customer service as they are very helpful. The videos are also beneficial in learning how to get the most out of the Kipu experience.
Cons
I really do not have any cons for KIPU. This is the first program that I have use and I do not have any complaints. If I would have to try and find something. It maybe I don't know if I can ever learn everything. KIPU has so much that we can tap into.

Everything I need
My overall experience with quipu has been very good. Before I worked for substance abuse facility I worked for a pharmacy where I learned how to use KIPU. My experience with KIPU has been all good.
Pros
The thing I like most about KIPU is, I am able to input and store all the critical information that I need to keep without having to write it down on paper. I am able to check each client and see all the information because it is right there at my fingertips and easily accessible.
Cons
The only thing I can say that I like least about KIPU is that if I am not using it for a few minutes, it turns itself off, and I have to sign in every time it does that. I wish you would stay on a little longer.

Very easy to learn
Our whole company switched around Christmas and we were worried it would be a disaster but everyone learned it quickly. Passing meds and charting is so much easier, we used to keep track of meds on paper and this is preferable.
Pros
Our whole dept learned it quickly and it is much more streamlined and user friendly than Netsmart.
Cons
Sometimes you need to click in and out of things to get something done but really it's not that big of a deal.

Pros
Actually I really like all the products of scheduling appointments, the telehealth is very easy to use and the client seldom have problems and the treatment planning as extras that are easy to implement what a therapist wants to work with a client on and rate the success of each goal and objective. Relatively simple to use when you are trained and using daily.
Cons
The thing that I like least is the ability to put appointments on the schedule in the past. That sometimes needs to happen and but usually cannot override it with "save anyway" in the scheduling. Overall a great product.

Absolute time saver

Kipu is by far the most convenient technology I use in my day to day work life. I love that I can check on the status of lab results from anywhere with Kipu mobile.

KIPU for the past year and some has been great
I have enjoyed using it and submitting and signing my notes on clients and services rendered is unbelievably easy!
Pros
I have picked up so easily on KIPU to start my career in terms of learning to bill our clients for the services we provide in our facility. This system is set up so well, and makes things so well organized for our organization weekly meetings as well to keep everything all in one place that we all have access to.
Cons
I think we could work on the document templates but for the most part the system is great.

KIPU is amazing!
I have found that KIPU is by far the most efficient EMR system. They make it easy to organize our forms and clinical needed to keep track of our patients medical records.

I have worked in utilization review for several years and have found that KIPU is by far the easiest and most efficient EMR system. I have facilities that use other EMR systems and have found that nothing compares to KIPU.

There aren't any CONS! KIPU is an amazing EMR system and we could not be happier with the product.

I can’t say enough about Kipu. It’s easy to use, easy on the eyes, and navigation is seemless. As a super admin I love the access I have to update and create things we need and how easy it is to do.
Cons
I wish in scheduling I could type the time instead of using the scroll. I also wish there was a way to drag and move appointments or even copy and paste.

Very Impressive
Kipu makes client care and Healthcare provider documentation easy to input, and easy to access to keep all of our staff on the same page with any particular client's care.
Pros
Kipu is very user friendly. Kipu uses color coding to differentiate clients and status. Kipu draws your attention to current medications do, and pending first responses with the color red, that draws your attention to the upcoming task. Kipu uses easy to read tabs and walks you through each step in each task. It is easy to customize profiles to bring to the front the clients that I work with most.
Cons
The only con that I can think of, is that sometimes on my work computer, even when internet is available, Kipu will not load. I keep an extra tablet at work as a backup plan.

My perspective
Pros
The platform is very busy for the type of work that we do at ROSC. The training was not efficient with the amount of need in order to educate the small amount of first time users. After a few hours of trial and error I was able to navigate Kipu without struggling with the platform. I rate this platform a 6 out of 10. I am familiar with Powerchart/CAMS over my career, and I have enjoyed now learning Kipu.... Thank you kindly

Comprehensive EMR
The biggest benefit for my role here at The Ridge Of Ohio, as the IOP Coordinator, is that I can check a client's attendance as well as their UA and/or Breathalyzer results for any day in question! The pages load smoothly & efficiently every time!

Although I understand that EMRs can only remain open for so long without being interacted with by the user, it can be tiring to have to log in so many times during a work day!

This is the best and most user friendly platform I have used in the healthcare industry. Its an excellent tool for client portal, client database, clinical notes, and medical record storage.
Cons
There is no option for task alerts for deadlines or daily reminders.
