With other software, we tell the support team what we want and they make it happen. With ELMS, we will have the ability (once we know more about what we're doing\!) to customize the program in a manner that works for us. One feature that I anticipate setting up in the coming year are site requirements. This was one of the main reasons why we switched to ELMS and I am anxious to see if it works the way I anticipate. > > **Cons**: There are a lot of settings "behind the scenes" and it's not always easy to find them without help. Some of the terminology is confusing (surveys versus forms). There should be some step-by-step guides to help do ordinary, recurring tasks such as setting up an academic year. There are help videos that explain features but no checklists that guide us through these tasks that, surely, all schools in our field need to do. I have to create my own "how-to" guides. Of note, our previous software didn't provide this either\! Some of the reports contain too much information. Sure, they can be customized (that is, I can remove unneeded columns) and saved. But it's easy to inadvertently save multiple versions of a report and then not be able to tell which ones are the "right" ones and which ones can be deleted. Sometimes when I ask for certain changes, I'm told that other programs use the features that I want changed so my requests cannot be honored. I think it would be great if we had a users group so we could talk to these other programs and find out how/why they are using those features. We would surely benefit from that. > > The support team has been great and are so knowledgeable and accessible\! There have been some recent improvements that have been very helpful.
