In the studio/agency space, we're all trying to figure out what capacity we're operating at, and how to ensure teams are resourced, happy, motivated – and that our projects are making money. Parallax tries to take all of this on and provide smart reporting. The promise of all of this was definitely what drew our team to this software. I've also personally enjoyed being involved in the product testing/roadmapping process. I feel like a lot of the suggestions my team has made along the way have been implemented or considered. > > **Cons**: Parallax is still starting out. So over the months there have been a lot of growing pains that we've needed to contend with – mostly in the form of workarounds. This has made things like reporting still need to happen – for us anyway – outside of the tool. My other issue with Parallax is how much it relies on getting everyone's allocation exactly right to be truly useful. This is nearly impossible to manage with the normal ups and downs of business, and when you figure in non-billable time like vacations, internal projects, and sick time things get squirrelly quick. > > The Parallax team is really nice, and I'm rooting for them\! I think that in order to be more useful, we could use better communication around release notes (or some expectations about when/what type of communication we can expect). As a result the - the effort (both rote and complex) to get projects and employees set up is substantial the larger the agency (we're 70 people and about as many ongoing projects) - the learning curve to set it up RIGHT is steep, so there will inevitably be some trial and error to get it set up to work best with your organization. Short version, it was 10 months after kickoff before I got complete data out that I trusted. > > Learning curve was steep and onboarding effort was high but the outcome has been worth it.
