Square is perfect for mobile or online businesses.
What I like most about square payments is my business is mobile and I don't have a card reader so I can take payments from the app by simply and putting card number and accepting the payment. I also like how I invoices.
Pros
What I like most about square payments is ease of use for mobile payments and ability to send invoices mobile.
Cons
I don't like the processing fee. But all services have a processing fee so I don't mind that it's a little cheaper than others.
Reasons for Switching to Square Payments
I chose square payments over the other one because square was the first one I used and I was used to it. Also I looked at others and compare the prices and square is a lot more affordable.- Industry: Construction

Square Payments - Great Software
Very happy with them, would definitely recommend them to other small businesses. They are affordable, user friendly, and side with their customer (the business).
Pros
I love this software! We have continued to still use it for payments even after getting a new CRM software.
Cons
Nothing, it is very user friendly and they even side with you on disputes if you have all the information available to prove your claim.

Hefty price tag for sleek features
Square was effortless to set up and provided me everything I needed to accept wireless payments for my mobile studio. The ability to accept card anytime, anywhere was lucrative. The fees are high cost of operation are eventually what brought me away from them. For an enterprise business it would make more sense, but not for an SMB.
Pros
Square payments is awfully intuitive, probably the most learnable and quick to use platform of them all. They feature native integrations to any phone or computer you use. The app can even take payments on iPhone without a POS system. It is a UI dream and even keeps payments engaging and fun. Since they are a big company they have multiple lines of support, and ever adding features.
Cons
Square payments is expensive, I would say the most expensive of them all. I only lasted 3 months using their service. I was roped in by the ability to accept tap to pay on my iPhone without the need for equipment. However, the fees per transaction were getting up to 2.75% each, with additional fees for instant deposit into bank account. On $10,000 I paid Square about $400 in fees out of my hard earned revenue.

My experience with Square Payments
Overall, I would say once you get used to the quirks and learn how to navigate, it becomes more simple to use.
Pros
What I like most about Square payments is that it is quick and efficient once you get to know how to navigate through the system.
Cons
I have found that sometimes it does not retain the credit card information I have stored in it. I have also found that the customer has the ability to remove their credit card number when they know that an automatic debit won't go through. When using the mechanism for an iPad or iPhone, sometimes it lags or doesn't function properly at all.

It's Hip to be Square!
Square is a great program. Most of our events are run by volunteers and the Square system is simple enough to teach on the fly, but dependable enough to rely on. I love it.
Pros
We use Square for all major events because it's dependable, fast, and easy to use. One of our Festivals has around 30,000 attendees annually, and we run the entire POS off of Square including: Merch tent, 3 different bar locations, Gyutaku, Boat Building, Special Stages, and food vendors.
Cons
If Square goes down, which is incredibly rare, it's a nightmare -- however there are some built in settings to help with that possibility.

Very bad payment Proccessing procedures. I’m not obligated to obtain a walk in customer’s address and phone numbers. If you’re suspicious, then it’s your problem. Law doesn’t require me to investigate about a customer. If the payment is successful then it’s done.
You accepted the payment and later you withheld ?!!!!
No ethics.
Pros
Nothing at all! It’s the worst payment service provider I’ve ever dealt with.
Cons
After signing up by two days, they held my payments and requested my business license and bank statements. Etc.
A friend recommended it to me and I really didn’t dig deep to find out more about Square.
They requested a government ID, Selfie.
They wasted my time and caused me stress plus holding my money!!!

A solid product that meets most retail needs
The overall experience is good. There's minimal training needed for p-o-s users. There's a very easy (incredibly easy) user interface. And as mentioned before, it's very easy for the vendor to receive payment quickly, with almost no delay at all.
Pros
It is a very easy way to process credit cards and to receive funds in an expeditious manner.

Efficient, fast and easy payments
Overall, pros are more than cons, customers are surprised about the fast process but tapping part should be easier to locate.
Pros
Efficient and very easy and fast to make payments. Everything is detailed so it is easy to understand what we see.

It was overall a good experience. We received the money as expected and were able to charge peoples credit cards.
Pros
I liked how easy it was to use this. I use this for a college entrepreneurship class. We had to create out own product and sell it on campus. Square made it easy and convenient.

Square Payments is easy to set up and allows you to capture payment multiple ways!
We've used Square Payments for the last 4 years and during that time, Square has made a ton of updates that improve the software. For example, we've used their Payment Link option to collect payment from clients retroactively in situations where their card was declined or the wifi was down at the time of service.
Pros
Square Payments is easy to set up and begin accepting payments for small businesses. It has integration with our accounting software so we can easily categorize payments as they occur and offers great features like transaction reports to stay on top of your money.
Cons

Square for the win!
I have never had any issues with Square payments and I have been using them for 5 years now for my small business. They are prompt and very easy to use.
Pros

Cons
The only thing I would change about square is to lower the fees, but they are really not bad at all compared to other companies I have researched before deciding on my square.

User Friendly and fairly priced.
I have gotten locked out of my account a few times and had difficulty getting back in. You better hope if something goes wrong it is not the weekend. Other than that I love having a square account to take credit card payments on the go with my phone. They give you the first reader for free and the POS are actually priced very well. It is fast and easy to not only set up, but to also use.
Pros
I like that once you start taking payments it only takes 5 minutes tops to appear in your Square account. I also like that you can sign up for a checking and savings account with square and there are no fees for using the card. I like the tap to pay where the customer and I just tap phones together and it makes a sound and a happy face pops up. I can then send a reciept to their email. You get your first reader for free as well. I do not use it anymore really because my phone does not have a 3.5mm headphone outlet, but I prefer tap to pay better anyway.
Cons
The thing I like least if the difficulty getting ahold of customer service at times. Also when I first started taking payments I had to wait days for the money. I am not sure if I get it fast now because I have a square business checking account, or if everyone can get it that fast. I have used it for so long that I do not recall.

Massive Incompetence
God awful and excessively costly with their constant service fallovers and enabling thieves to steal from you.
Pros
Nothing, they have no accountability, no decency, and no competency whatsoever. Fools and clowns.
Cons
Fraudulent chargeback by a mentally challenged thief that posted photos of his received good publicly. Provided that to Square to appeal the illegal chargeback, and they failed! It couldn't have been easier to win, yet they force you to let them respond on your behalf and screw it up majorly, then refuse to identify the thief so you can fix it in civil court.
Disgusting incompetence with no accountability. Don't end up stuck with them like me because of hardware investments, they are beyond awful and will lose your money time and time again.

Square Payment works best for small and medium size businesses
My overall experience with Square Payments has been quite positive. The setup process is straightforward, making it easy for me to start accepting payments quickly. The interface is intuitive, which simplifies transactions for my customers.
Pros
What I like most about Square Payments is its user-friendly interface and versatility. It simplifies the payment process for both businesses and customers, allowing for easy transactions whether in-person or online. The integration with other Square tools, like inventory management and analytics, also makes it a comprehensive solution for small businesses. Plus, the transparent pricing structure helps users avoid unexpected fees. Overall, it’s a great option for anyone looking to streamline their payment process!
Cons
What I like least about Square Payments is I have had issues with customer support, especially during peak times. Additionally, while the pricing is generally transparent, certain fees can be confusing for businesses with specific needs, like international transactions. Finally, the limited customization options for payment. Overall, while it’s a strong tool, these areas could use improvement.

Square, it's been over ten years, and I still like you
Overall, I think Square is a fantastic choice for small businesses (under $1mil in sales). There is so much flexibility in how you can accept and process payments and Square's latest improvements truly make it a seamless way to keep payment records!
Pros
I've used Square for over ten years now, across multiple businesses. I've been very pleased with the ability to run various types of transactions and without a monthly fee.
Cons
The Virtual Terminal can be buggy, the phone app is prone to freezing. I wish the reports linked to actual transaction (for instance, if I see there was a spike in sales on December 15th according to the reporting graph, I'd like to be able to click the 15th from the report and see a list of transactions). The other grievances have actually been dealt with as Square continually improves their service!

The most user friendly POS
Pros
Honestly, everything. Between 2009-2011, I looked at so many different POS (we were making the switch from an old push button cash register). Even systems that were designed specifically for coffee shops fell wayyyy flat. Then square came along and made it all so so easy to use. I’m not much of a tech person, especially 13 years ago, and set out whole library up while I was on maternity leave and nursing my baby. It was that easy.
Cons
I am a part of a small local franchise that operates as more of a co-op of shop owners. The one complaint is that We can’t all share gift cards.
Reasons for Switching to Square Payments
I’ve been with square since 2009, but because of the gift card issue above, I started seeking out a new POS a few years ago. I did a LOT of research. Even though many other systems offer the global gift card option, Square still came out on top for cost and ease of use.- Industry: Photography

Great Option for Businesses
Overall great experience and I still recommend them. I used Square to accept payments for single invoices and recurring subscriptions. Easy to see what accounts receivable are pending, and easy to send invoices with reminders.
Pros
Receive money instantly if you use their debit card, user friendly, easy to set up, ability to set recurring invoicing without a separate fee.
Cons
Now there are separate subscriptions required for some more advanced options. You can't (as far as I could see) set an invoice to automatically charge the customer unless the customer selected it, and you can't enter a customer's payment information directly (as far as I could see).

A Reliable Choice for Simple, Occasional Credit Card Processing
Overall, Square has been an excellent solution for processing smaller credit card transactions in our business. The invoicing feature is especially useful, allowing us to quickly create and email invoices with direct payment links, which streamlines the process for clients. Accepting credit card payments has removed some hurdles for clients, helping to reduce the time it takes to initiate projects, as they don’t have to wait for ACH or check approval.
Pros
Square Payments is incredibly easy to use with minimal setup required. I appreciate that there are no monthly subscription fees, which works well for me since I only use it occasionally. The predictable, flat-fee pricing per transaction is a big plus, making it a convenient and affordable option for when clients prefer to pay by credit card.
Cons
I’ve noticed that Square may place holds on funds for security reasons, which has made me cautious about using it for larger transactions. This limitation affects our ability to rely on Square for bigger payments, as a hold on substantial funds could impact our ability to deliver on larger service engagements.

I love how easy it was to use and also affordable. When my business wasn't making much, I could not afford Quickbooks and Square made doing business so much easier.
Cons
Can not recall anything I didn't like about it. It seems it isn't as comprehensive for business accounting like Quickbooks is.

Game Changer
"My overall experience with Square POS has been mostly positive. It’s a fantastic tool for managing my business on the move, especially with how easily it handles mobile menus and keeps everything organized. I love being able to access customer data and transaction history with just a few taps—super handy for staying on top of things. Despite these small setbacks, Square has been a reliable sidekick in running my business, helping me keep everything streamlined and efficient."
Pros
"What I love most about Square is how user-friendly it is, especially for mobile menus. It makes taking orders and managing payments a breeze, even on the go. Plus, the ability to save all the customer data and transaction history is a game changer. It’s super easy to go back and check past transactions or customer details, which helps me stay on top of everything. Overall, it's a reliable and efficient tool that’s made running my business so much smoother!"
Cons
"As much as I appreciate Square, adding menu items on the phone while on the go can be frustrating. It's not as smooth as I'd like, especially when you're in a rush. Also, card payments sometimes fail when you're in a busy environment, which can be stressful when you're trying to process transactions quickly. It would be great if those issues could be smoothed out for a more seamless experience!"
