My payroll experence
I have no complaints and I'm very happy with the payroll software and the professionalism that is provided. I love it and have recommended this to every business person that I know.
Pros
The simplicity of the software is so user-friendly. Also, if you do have a question you can call and speak with a professional and get patient and competent help and you don't have to strain to try to understand through a thick accent as to what is being said.
Cons
If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all.

Simple and accurate payroll
Painless, the payroll processing has been as simple as you can ask for, I have not experience any problems and I was assisted with all the questions that I had.
Pros
Ease of use and setup. The customer service team is extremely helpful even for the simple questions. I love the simplicity of the integrated timecard program, it make the processing even easier.
Cons
The only complaint I have is when there is a change on one person and it is found after the hours have been entered for everyone and you have to start over to make that change.

Using Patriot Software
We are just completing our 3rd month, but so far it has been mostly seamless and have only needed a little help from an accountant to set it up correctly. It is getting easier each month.
Pros
Patriot Software cost less than our previous payroll company and for the most part is much easier to use.
Cons
At first it was a little hard to get set up, maybe only because I did the onboarding myself instead of utilizing the option for them to do it.
Also, it is a little frustrating to have to submit payroll 5 days ahead of time, but this is partially our choice of how we run our payroll cycles.

Worth the Switch
It's been a fantastic experience. I moved my entire payroll business over at the beginning of the year. It was a lot of work, but now that it's done, the process is seamless. I would work with their Customer Service team any day of the week. They're the best I've worked with in any industry, honestly.
Pros
Their customer service. Hands down the best I've worked with anywhere. They genuinely listen to my concerns and ask questions that tell me they want to provide what I need. And I like that they're always looking for input to make an even better product.
Cons
Switching from QB Desktop was a struggle. QB is the gold standard as their product is incredibly easy to use, but their prices are driving people away. So, it wasn't really a Patriot issue, more of my own as I learned a new system.

Solid Product with Great Customer Service
It took a fair amount of work to move everything over from our old system, but customer support was always very friendly and easy to get a hold of when I needed them.
Pros
I like that their customer service is so friendly and easy to get a hold of. Payroll is easy to run once everything is set up. Our state payroll taxes are complicated and Patriot seems to handle them particularly well.
Cons
The 4-day direct deposit lead time is a little difficult to get used to, especially after using a different program with 2-day direct deposit for 11 years. It can definitely have a bigger impact on our cash-flow. I do wish some of the payroll reports were in the same area as where you run payroll so that I don't have to jump back and forth to get all the information for 941 deposits.

Pros
It's very easy to submit hours, deductions, benefits, etc. I love all the reports I can obtain.
Cons
I was confused at first that Payroll and Accounting were under the same umbrella but two different services you purchase; I had only purchase payroll at first and about a year later added accounting services. Navigating the sidebars and menu bar should be easier.

Positive about Patriot!
Extremely positive! I always talk to a person within the first 5 minutes of making a call for assistance. I cannot think of a call I've made over the year and 1/2 of using Patriot that my question or situation was not resolved by the end of the phone call. That has not been the case with another payroll company I was using previous to Patriot.
Pros
I am most thankful to have a smaller payroll company to be working with that really seems to care about customer service and helping their clientele when starting out using Patriot and over the year that I have used them. They are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful every time I have called. I have spent hours on the phone with another much larger company without resolution to problems I was having. I dreaded having to call the previous company knowing I would be on hold for long periods of time and perhaps not get my issue resolved. Patriot gets me to the right person to talk to without long hold times and any question gets answered by the end of the call.
Cons
During the initial use time - first few payroll processing - there is a longer time of processing for payroll. That is a necessary & understandable caution on their end when dealing with a new business. It was a bit challenging, but is only for the first few payroll processing times. It is a minimal inconvenience to have a better company to deal with when questions arise.

Such a relief!
Overall very good. I went back and added this feature a couple of months after I had started the accounting program, adding it in later was somewhat of a struggle as it caused a few glitches in the system. But with the help of patriots employees, we got it all worked out, and it has been great!
Pros
I love that they keep me informed, I know just how much is coming out of my account for employee taxes and when. They make the process so easy and it really is such a relief to know that it’s not only done but most importantly that it is done correctly!
Cons
I wish there was more information about pay periods, such as how to set it up. I have struggled in this area .

Pros

Despite the direct deposit failure, I love Patriot! They have been wonderful and the system is so easy to use. I can navigate quickly. Payroll used to take 2 hours for my 17 employees, now I am done in 30 minutes and that includes putting their check stubs in envelopes!
Pros
The customer service is the best. Very informative, nice and patient.
Cons

Long Time Small Bus Owner Recommending Patriot Payroll
A long time user who appreciates the efficiencies it offers. I've felt confident each quarter and end-of-year when taxes have to be paid that I can easily retrieve the necessary data so it can be done right.
Pros
The support stands out - I'm a big chat fan and questions can be answered quickly that way. Support people obviously well trained.
Cons
They sprung a major price increase without notice a while back, where the cost went up by a much higher percentage than you would expect from a software provider (Quickbooks Online for example).

Patriot Software
Good. It's easy to get a customer service rep. I did have a pretty massive issue wherein I was told that entering hours could either be in HH:MM or Decimal format. That was wrong. It has to be in Decimal. Your staff needs to be 100% trained for critical issues like that.
Pros
It is easy to on-board a new employee, and it's easy to run payroll. Phone support is a huge plus. Chat isn't good for big issues.
Cons
When I need a report, it's not straightforward. I always have to ask for assistance. The report names are vague, and there's too many drop-downs. It doesn't make sense. Also, I really wish I would get an email notification when it's my employees' birthday or work anniversary.

Patriot Software payroll processing does everything I need at a reasonable price
See first answer above: it describes my introduction to Patriot Payroll and my experience using it.
Pros
I have 1 part-time employee and process 2 payrolls/month. The payroll processing fees charged by my previous company had increased by a factor of 3 after my first year with them, so I began to look for alternatives. Patriot Software has chat support online M-F and I began asking questions about their services. I was immediately impressed with the quality of their support: all questions (and I asked a lot) were answered immediately, courteously, and correctly.
So, I decided to start working with Patriot. The cost of payroll processing was about 25% of my previous service and the service itself is excellent. Setup takes some time and effort, but, again, any time I had a question it was immediately answered.
Cons
I can't think of anything. I have been working with them for 2 months and I seriously have nothing but praise for their whole payroll operation.

The BEST payroll software ever!
Amazing is really the best word. Even when I just have a simple question because I am unsure of something, they are always so kind and helpful, never making me feel less because my question may be "dumb".
Pros
Patriot's customer service is HANDS DOWN the BEST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Every single person I have ever talked to has been helpful and kind! Their software is also super user friendly!
Cons
I can't really say that I have anything that I dislike. I have run into an issue with one of my client's (based on their service industry), but even with the problem at hand, Patriot has been amazing at coming up with interim solutions while they work on a permanent fix. I dislike the issue, but really can't complain since they are rectifying it!

Payroll Made Easy
Overall, I am very happy with Patriot Softwsre and the cost is reasonable and fair for the service provided. Further, it can be a significant saving for a small business owner who normally relegates the responsibility to a bookkeeper or CPA.
Pros
It is generally simple to use once a standard routeen is established. Coming from a system where I calculated it manually and did my own 941, 940, and state reporting, it was a godsend. I also very much appreciate the support when i did have problems in the past. Very responsive and when by phone, not in broken English.
Cons
Setting up employee advances and repayments is not easy and often is incorrect. It makes helping employees more difficult and has resulted in overdeductions and underdeductions.

Patriot Payroll is the best move I've made in a long time!
The Patriot Payroll staff is AMAZING to work with! [sensitive content hidden] has been my guide and coach all the way through. Every time I call with a question, [sensitive content hidden] answers it easily and walks me through to be sure I get what he's teaching me. I can't state enough that Patriot has been a game-changer for me in my office workload. Every month, every quarter, I'm saving HOURS of manual work that I can now apply elsewhere.
Pros
I love how easy it was to switch my payroll from an annually purchased in-house software package, to the Patriot system. I love that I no longer have to open a file, save a backup, and process each employee individually, print tax reports monthly, quarterly, and annually. I wasted so much time in the past. Besides being easier, this payroll system is actually less expensive in the long haul for hours of work saved.
Cons
Having to modify my in-house record keeping on Quicken software. I'd been set up for my manual payroll previously, with automated entry system in quicken. I've had to modify that process over time to be sure and track my tax payments. Not a huge deal, more of a process of transitioning from one system to another. Still a WHOLE LOT EASIER to manage than all the work I did before.

Patriot is Affordable Convenience
Extremely happy with the service they provide for the monthly fees. Nice to have a service that won't crush you in fees.
Pros
I like the user-friendliness of this product. You do not have to have much payroll experience to be able to use this product. If there is something you can not figure out, the customer service rep will help quickly and efficiently. It is definitely a good value for the amount they charge. I would recommend to anyone looking for a company that won't break the bank.
Cons
There are some functions that are not available with this software, which can be done with other companies. Sometimes that is agitating knowing something can be done if we were with another company. But I guess there will be some things missing at such an affordable monthly price point. You have to weigh your options. Also, since they service every state, sometimes I question their advice for my state - specifically. So, a little extra research may need to be done on your part. But like I said, it is still a great value.

Big fan of Patriot Payroll
This is the first web-based program I have used and I have been very happy with it. It's easy to navigate and easy to find any reporting I may need.
Pros
Having a website-based payroll system makes it easy to access. I can keep track of paid time off, deductions, garnishments and all the reporting. I appreciate being able to see past reporting and filings as well. It's live time so I can see employees logging in and out of the timeclock. Working with technical support as always been a positive experience, I can get answers right away.
Cons
The con about using this system is that it is not correctly registering our overnight crews clock ins and outs. Because they clock in the next day their hours must be manually corrected. I was told this is being worked on in order to get corrected in the future.

Quality Payroll Service Software with Great Customer Support
The overall experience is very good. The customer service and sales experience is always on point and very helpful.
Our small business was with Patriot Software through the venture capital bank collapse, and although Patriot software was involved, their commitment to providing support, transparent communication, and ultimately lessons learned was a huge confidence booster in the quality of the people who make up the company.
Pros
Patriot Payroll software is a great value for small business owners. It provides great customer service and high quality payroll management software and a very good price for what you are purchasing.
Cons
The payroll software simplifies the payroll experience as much as possible, but running payroll is a complex task. It is not Patriot's fault as much as the challenge of the web of legal and tax requirements from three levels of government.

Great payroll option for a small company
It's a very simple, easy to use program, that makes payroll a snap.
Pros
It's much less expensive, and simpler that Quickbooks.
I was able to get a live person on the phone when I needed support.
Cons
I've had issues entering vacation hours because my employees accrue vacation every 2 weeks. I'm not able to track that properly in Patriot
Reasons for Choosing Patriot Payroll
They increased cost substantially and I did not need all of the features.Switched From

Doing payroll the right way!
Always an excellent experience. When they do mess up, they take ownership and fix it. So much better than the faceless interface to QuickBooks/Intuit.
Pros
They handle all submissions at the federal and state levels. No filing of anything from me!
Cons
Finding the right report to generate, based on their brief two word name, is often challenging. Is it a report? A tax filing? And how to set it up? For example, our yearly workers comp insurance audit requires squaring with quarterly submissions across two years. Generating the right report is tricky!

Great, Affordable, and easy to use online payroll services
Have just had a great experience overall.
Pros
I like the ease of completing payroll on a weekly basis. They take care of all the direct deposit funds and tax compliance items that I do not have to worry about. They also have an on-line portal for the employees to view their W-4's and get their W-2's at the end of the year.
Cons
They have taken care of most of the Cons by continuously updating payroll functionality. For example, if i had to make an hourly rate change (raise), and had started payroll already, I would have to cancel the payroll to make a change and start over. Now, this can be done right from the payroll page by clicking on their name and the adjustment is saved without affecting the payroll I am working on.

Best out of three companies
Customer service is great! I’ve used three companies … left Patriot for a cheaper price and learned the hard way that you get what you pay for and came back to Patriot. The other company (1st out of 3) had horrible customer service.
Pros
Ease of use. They reply promptly with any questions and work to make sure I understand resolution
Cons
Some interactive details could be tweaked but I’ve seen many improvements already.

Love it, Highly recommend to any small business owner who wants to keep track of his or her own payroll, Once setup anyone could run the payroll service if needed
Pros

For someone who does not like to give up control this software lets me keep control of payroll with no worries
Cons
Setting up Vacation time has been a little tricky
Sometimes i vary this policy a bit and hard to keep the service and actual time off correct.
Reasons for Choosing Patriot Payroll

The good and the bad
It has not been a smooth transition overall, but we're working through it. I feel it would be so painful to switch to another company at this point, after everything we've had to learn and go through, that I'd be reluctant to do so unless something really bad happened. I'm hoping this is going to smooth out now that we are in real time and not working from history.
Pros
I like the friendly interface and use of direct deposit (once we got through setting it up). Payroll is quick to run now that it's set up.
Cons
The setup and entering payroll history at the start of the fourth quarter took approximately 24 work hours. It was not easy, and getting direct deposit approved took time as well. The payroll history is not fool proof as I mentioned--the software caused an error when running payroll for two states that still hasn't been fixed. Also, the vacation and sick time tracking does not cap properly (as it says it does) and so we'll need to track this separately outside of the software, which is a pain. Customer service has been good overall, though we have had conflicting responses at times. It has not been a smooth transition overall, but we're working through it.

Excellent Customer Support
Excellent. I've talked to customer support several times and they have been just that supportive and helpful and clear and concise in their statements. The ease in talking with knowledgeable support staff is worth the move from Quickbooks alone!
Pros
Reports are clearer and more professional in appearance than Paychex
Cons
No clear deadlines for my payroll schedule. I would love to see a "due date" for completing the payroll on my Dashboard, as well as a "payroll accepted" on my dashboard. I'm never completely sure that everything has been done correctly

Payroll software for the person who does not know how to run payroll
I feel like it is worth the price. I appreciate the support. I like that my employees can follow an email link to set up their account for automatic deposit and to enter all of their information in themselves. I do get lost in all of the different links and don't know how to tell what to do next or where to find information. But the support team is always very helpful.
Pros
Once you get everything set up, running payroll is very quick and easy. Also, I am not an accountant, and not everything was intuitive to me, but when I have a question, the support team is always super helpful and very clear.
Cons
I am not an accountant, but I did not feel like the set up was very intuitive. I wasn't sure where I was in the process, or even when I was done. I got emails later telling me I had not finished with the tax set up because I could not tell when I was going through the process that I was not done yet. On the other hand, I did receive an email informing me that I was not done yet, so I did appreciate that. It's good to know the system has checks in place for people like me.

Patriot has been a great decision for us
Pros
The software is easy to use to run payroll and also easy to adjust employee information. The customer service is also excellent. Every time I have emailed an issue, they have an answer within 24 hours, often same day.
Cons
I don't really have any negatives. The software has worked well and we haven't had any issues thus far.
