It has streamlined what was once a lengthy process and required people to be in the office to physically view the checklist and mark it off. Now, we can collaborate from anywhere\! I can check in to see what has been completed, I can assign a task to anyone in the group, I can quickly check off what is done (and still view them, just with strikethrough text), it's simple to undo something if it was checked off by mistake, it's simple to add notes or attachments to each task. Additionally, you can set reminders, due dates, have tasks be recurring. Honestly, it's such a simple thing to add to your computer, but so useful.
