ADP for medium and large businesses

For me, as an employee for a large businesses, having ADP as my first payroll product has simplified my life. It's been so easy to track my hours, my paycheck and my benefits. I have also been able to help my HR coworkers to set it up and add new workers as we grow as a company.

Pros

What I like the most is the scalability ADP offers. While you grow as a company, you can adjust your payroll options easily. It's also very easy to use

Cons

It doesn't have a free trial option to know the product before committing.

Is ADP for you?

Overall ADP is a great system to use, as long as you have the people to set it up and continue to train all colleagues to use the system, otherwise it would become a difficult system to use and operate with.

Pros

I like that it's an all-in-one platform that covers so many HR and payroll functions, from payroll processing, to time and attendance tracking, as well as talent management.

Cons

ADP can be difficult to navigate, especially for us as we have a lot of manufacturing colleagues who struggle to operate these different systems.

Consistently Inconsistent

Overall disappointed with the level of inconsistency at all levels.

Pros

They have proven to to be a valuable part of our Payroll and HR Business compliance. ADP Comprehensive Services has kept us in compliance. They really look into how you are using the services and help to level up the experience.

Cons

Their systems don't work well together, I wish it was a little more customizable from the client side, inconsistency in support and extending the customer support time beyond 5PM. We've had settings reversed or access removed without anyone adjusting anything, so there are occasionally some bugs that have to be worked through. Would have liked more guided set-up in some areas. Their training resources/guides can definitely use an upgrade, L&D module is very basic.

Response from ADP

My opinion on Comprehensive Services

In the past I had issues, but I have a good team now, so my overall experience is a 9. There is always room for improvement.

Pros

When you have a good representative, the service is amazing. It is like having an additional person on your team.

Cons

At times, I feel like service wants to push issues back to my dedicated representative, and at time the turnaround is not that quick.

40 Years and counting

I understand that ADP has to protect the brand, but the hands off approach is very frustrating at times. If you are not well versed in payroll regulation you may be very frustrated. Your payroll person needs to be more than a button pusher.

Pros

ADP is a one stop shop with accurate calculation and reporting. I have been a payroll ADP user for 40+ years so have seen much growth and change.

Cons

Too much red tape sometimes to get things done. I really dislike customer service. We have had three new case managers in the last 6 months. I can barely understand the person I have now. Forces me to use the online portal for assistance instead of just calling and talking with someone.
Also disappointed they no longer provide APA recertification credits. ADP seems more focused on Human Management at this time.

Why not ADP Comprehensive Services?!

Very satisfied. I've been both a practitioner and employee user for 9+ years. I've seen other HRIS platforms but they over deliver their products and feels ingenuine whereas ADP has proven their product capabilities.

Pros

The service team experience. They partner with you to come to a solution and leave no task unfinished.

Cons

Not much to say in terms of cons, however, it will be nice to have an "Approve My Check" feature. Not only does the employee approve his/her timecard hours, but also the earnings associated. This will greatly assist employers from costly PAGA claims. It would be an added feature for the employee to confirm they are being paid correctly. Also, the platform could use a refresh for a modernized look and feel. Lots of information to look at on the home page and while that's a plus, the look can be overwhelming. Dashboard icons will be great.

Fantastic tool for employer and employee

ADP Comprehensive Services has been such a game changer for my department. Our dedicated representatives are always working with us to get ahead of any issues, they are always happy to hop on a call and provide excellent customer service. They are as much a part of our team as our employees. I couldn't imagine our jobs without it!

Pros

ADP Comprehensive Services acts as an additional team member for us. It has saved us considerable time and helped our employees have a better employment experience. From being able to answer questions, allowing employees to easily see and make changes to benefits, accounts, retirment etc., it is an all around great product!

Cons

I have no issues with ADP Comprehensive Services.

Overall decent product just needs modernization

I like our service expert in HR and rely on her when needed. It can depend on who you are grouped with so if you aren't getting the response as quickly as you need, you may need to request another contact. The system is big and handles an assortment of needs/tasks but can feel clunky and a bit outdated. ADP asks for feedback and continues to update the system on a quarterly basis. In the end, if you are knowledgeable in an HRIS, you can do what you need to in the system it just would be helpful if they offered easy workflows and the ability to send reports to those who aren't administrators.

Pros

We have a good service team right now and can request changes when necessary.
We know the system very well and don't have to utilize support very often.
Employee information is easy to navigate.

Cons

System is clunky and can change without notice. Performance management, although recently updated doesn't allow for goals over 100% and Comp Module doesn't flow over to payroll with dates for bonuses. Things you think would be easy to fix take a while.
Also, data feeds are handled offshore and are very painful to fix and update since you don't have access to that group by portal. Everything is in email and they don't respond timely.

Response from ADP

Hi Jill, we appreciate the detailed review of your ADP experience. We would like the opportunity to talk with you and investigate your feedback further and how we can make things right. If you are interested, email your contact information and company name to [email protected]. Looking forward to hearing from you.

ADP Comprehensive Services - 5 Star Review

Overall, I am very happy working with ADP Comprehensive Services and would recommend it to other businesses looking for an all-in-one HR, Payroll, Benefit system.

Pros

ADP Comprehensive Services are extremely user-friendly and easy to navigate. Customer support is always quick to respond with helpful answers. The system is robust and I love the way HR, Payroll, Benefits, Talent, etc., are all accessible on one platform.

Cons

Sometimes upgrades are made to the program but are not conveyed to the client in a timely manner causing the client to have to relearn navigation, etc. Also, when the system is unexpectedly unavailable, ADP does not notify the clients and clients are responsible to find out on their own that the system is down.

Great for Payroll

It has been ok until recently. A lot of changes are happening and sometimes not for the best

Pros

The system has amazing features and a great payroll system that is customizable.

Cons

Custom setups mean that not everything works well together and we find that there are a lot of glitches. Too many updates make it hard to work smoothly within the system. The HR portion could use some work and better features to make the system run more fluidly into payroll.

Response from ADP

Hi Sara, thank for you the feedback. We work hard to make our system user friendly, we will take this feedback back to our team. Please let us know if there's anything else that we can do to assist you.

Pros

Cons

Great Service for Greener Teams

It's great to have the additional support and I think the service can be really helpful for clients with less seasoned payroll teams; however, for clients with seasoned payroll teams who have experience running their own processes, it can be frustrating to wait for ADP to do tasks that can be done quicker on the client side.

Pros

I like that we have the support of our dedicated ADP service team no matter what the challenge is.

Cons

As someone who has used both Comp and Non-Comp Services, I find it challenging not to have the ability to process payroll (specifically running previews) or calculate manual checks.

HR Friendly System

Pros

One of the standout aspects of ADP Comprehensive Services is their seamless integration of various HR functions into a single, cohesive platform. This integration has significantly streamlined our payroll processing, benefits administration, and talent management tasks. The user-friendly interface ensures that both HR professionals and employees can navigate the system with ease, making administrative tasks much less cumbersome

Cons

While ADP Comprehensive Services offers many benefits, there are a few areas where I felt improvements could be made.

One of the primary concerns was the platform’s complexity in certain features. Despite its broad range of functionalities, some aspects of the system can be quite intricate to navigate, especially for new users. This complexity occasionally leads to longer learning curves and can be a bit overwhelming for HR teams who are not as tech-savvy. Additionally, while ADP’s customer support is generally responsive, there were instances where resolving issues took longer than expected

It's fine...

It's fine. All the compliance and required reporting for payroll is taken care of well and are a weight off my mind.

Pros

There are many things that ADP handles behind the scenes that are a relief not to have to think about, like payroll taxes and unemployment insurance reporting.

Cons

In many instances, I feel that the staff on my account are soldiers not partners. They do exactly what they are told to do (soliders). But I would prefer a partner - a person that thinks thoughtfully and critically about what you are asking them to do and then suggest a better approach or say, "hey, did you think of this?" or "did you know about this?"

Setting it up and implementing the system. IT could be much easier. Implementation was not what I initially expected, it wasted a lot of time because it was not useful. You need to work out a way to go through implementation where it is not just about showing you what you can do, you should build in the time to actually set up and build the system.

Comp Srvcs Review

Overall, very good experience. We are actually growing and merging so we are going with Next Gen soon and everything will be back with ADP, including time and attendance.

Pros

ADP does so much for a lot of departments that we don't have to worry about.

Cons

Making sure our taxes are paid correctly and on time. Registration Services is also lacking in efficiency in getting new States setup.

The Payroll, Reporting and HR services team have provided valuable insights and assistance whether for routine questions or more complex issues helping me make informed decisions.

Pros

It is User friendly, it streamlines complex HR tasks making payroll process, benefits and reporting a lot easier.

Cons

The one thing I did not like was that they do not provide IT team come to our location to set up the clocks the assistance was done only via phone and it was time consuming and inconvenient.

ADP Comprehensive Services

While the service addresses many essential HR needs, there are areas that need improvement. Overall I I am comfortable using the system.

Pros

What I liked most about ADP Comprehensive Services was its integration of various HR functions into one platform, which helps simplify tasks. Customer support is generally responsive.

Cons

What I liked least about ADP Comprehensive Services was the disruption caused during the implementation phase. While changes were made in the background, our team was not notified, leading to interruptions in our daily operations. When we inquired about these disruptions, there was a lack of accountability and communication.

Response from ADP

Hi Alanna. We appreciate the detailed review! We are glad to hear that you've enkoyed how the platform integrates well and helps you simplify tasks. We try our best to be transparent and communicate all changes, we will pass this feedback onto our team.

Pros

I love the fact that my executive relationship manager keeps in touch with me and always available asking if there is anything she can do assist me and my operations.

Cons

I would say that overseas customer support can be a challenge sometimes.

Great service for all payroll and HR needs for small and large companies alike

Overall our experience with Comprehensive Services is very good. There is plenty of support and a wealth of information we have access to. Everybody at ADP is working hard to give the support we need and most smaller issues that come up are not disrupting our operation.

Pros

It offers the full package for Payroll and HR services with almost unlimited options of tailoring to the companies needs. It works well when everything is set up and makes payroll and HR much easier to manage

Cons

It is sometimes time consuming and a lengthier process to solve problems and find/fix the reasons behind some calculation errors or other issues that randomly appear.

Evaluator of HRMS systems

Really don't like it for what we're paying. Payroll is great but very cumbersome. Training to navigate on how to ensure the correct way to process sometimes very unclear.

Pros

I'm not sure what that is. I tried to reach out and have HR rep to explain. Very much still unclear for what we pay.

Cons

$$$$$ - Very very expensive even with the discount. Reporting engine and custom reporting difficult and a lot of time inaccurate unless you know the systems capabilities and what to report.

Response from ADP

Pros

I like that ADP is always improving. They take feedback and turn it into new products and processes.

Pros

- Streamlined service including payroll, recruitment, employee documents, timekeeping, time off, benefits
- Easy to use
- User-friendly for employees
- Custom reporting

Cons

- Price is high compared to other vendors and seems to increase often, while sometimes the services or quality of responses does not increase accordingly
- Sometimes the outages can be very disruptive without much follow up directly from ADP, customers have to try to find their own info to pass along.

The analytics and reporting tools offered by ADP are valuable for making informed decisions

Pros

ADP has a strong focus on compliance, helping businesses stay up-to-date with changing laws and regulations, which is especially critical for companies operating in multiple jurisdictions. The platform provides robust analytics and reporting features, enabling businesses to make data-driven decisions regarding their workforce.

Cons

The benefits platform, we have experienced challenges with data synchronization and compatibility with certain third-party applications.

Customer support response times can be slow, particularly for complex issues, which can be challenging when immediate assistance is needed.

Pros

Cons

the service/product is dependent on the talent level of your team. When we have had low talent, things did not go well. when talent gets better our service improves

User for Many Years

If we were able to get our customer services reps one on one, as we were able to reach our implementation team, I don't think I would have anything negative to say. Would also love to see the PTO tracking system built up a little more, with less red tape to cut through and definitely better reporting with regards to available balances on one spreadsheet, at a practitioners fingertips.

Pros

The Payroll Processing feature. We also use Smart Compliance so having the comfort of something monitoring tax compliance, our filings, etc. We use the Time and Attendance feature so transferring timecards is a very simple process. We also use the system to track our PTO, could use a bit more functionality on this end of the house but I know with product feedback, we will see additional changes as ADP works towards what their clients would like to see. Analytics dashboard is also a great feature and the Bridge is back, major plus!

Cons

The customer service in the aspect of not being able to reach your team directly. Sometimes they are available to answer the phone and you can have your issues resolved ASAP, other times, you get someone not familiar with your setup and it takes a while to catch them up to speed. Would love a more direct one on one contact with our representatives like ADP used to have.

Great payroll processing.

I liked the service very much. I have been with ADP on and off for over 30 years in one job or another and have always had great service. And when I look for a new position, the first question I ask is " who do you use to process the payroll".

Pros

I usually could speak with my representative and if he didn't know or have the answer, he got me assistance. And the fact I could speak with someone after hours if I had an issue.

Cons

The tax services need to provide more information when responding to a tax issue when they tell you they can't handle it.

Response from ADP
