### "McCormick System - Electrical Estimating Review 2026" — 4.0/5

> **John** | *16 June 2026* | Construction | Recommendation rating: 9.0/10
>
> **Pros**: I like the estimate extension and bid summary reports that come with the basic program. The extension reports can be customized and several options are available to meet your specific needs for your company and or customers that require supporting document of costs for budgets, bid proposal or change orders. The same customization of the bid summary reports are available to meet your needs. The database is easy update and customize for your standard company templates or templates can be set up for specific type of projects. Another positive is the ease to create items and assemblies for use on a specific project estimate and these newly created items and assemblies can be copied and pasted into the permanent database template. The customer support provided by McCormick is excellent, they always respond in a timely manner and the customer service tech's are always helpful. The customer service tech's provide good insights on the program and helpful options to help enhance the use of the program to get the maximum benefit of creating estimates and creating cost summaries that meet our companies needs.
>
> **Cons**: The DPE system can be slow and lag behind the speed in which the work can be produced. You have to be careful when using the DPE program that the take-off drops for branch raceways does not stay constant, you have to be vigilant and check and or establish the drop footage when you change drawings or take-off labels. The auto count feature does not work and is not reliable. The counts are not accurate enough to trust, and the time it takes to verify the auto count quantities could have used to just perform the count manually.
>
> I overall like to program and the features it provides for creating estimates and bid summaries.. I feel the estimates we create are accurate and the estimates can easily be modified and revised in a quick and real-time manner, especially when cost breakout are requested at the last moment. I based on our experience and what McCormick program is capable of, I feel our company under utilizes all the features the McCormick System has to offer and a more advanced database training sessions would be beneficial. This would be training that will focus on the features and customization of the program, that goes beyond the 2-day administrator training that is currently available.

### "Stay Away\! Archaic software that make money by charging people to sign up and to cancel." — 1.0/5

> **Lars** | *4 June 2022* | Construction | Recommendation rating: 0.0/10
>
> **Pros**: It's fully featured and can do anything you would want from an estimating software. Just expect it to do it slowly, inaccurately, and crash a lot.
>
> **Cons**: We spent over 20 hours trying to get their IT to work with our suppliers and link with our current system, but they couldn't get there. We paid for trade-services as per their recommendation, but they were never able to link a supplier to get accurate costing for materials. Without accurate costs an estimating software is useless.

It is a clunky file management system that uses an archaic approach of a virtual machine to save the files and run the software. It is also susceptible to crashes that sometimes require support to get back in the software. No matter our bandwidth we had troubles getting any type of responsiveness out of the takeoff software and would have been better to do it in excel.

We hired an new estimator that swore buy it, so we purchased it for him. We had to buy 10 hours of training and pay an onboarding fee even though we didn't use any of it. After we realized he was terrible at his job (no wonder he loved McCormick) I emailed to cancel. They charged $500 monthly and it was a couple grand to start for one license. Best part is they refused to cancel my subscription unless I paid $2750. A business that stands behind their product wouldn't have these practices.
>
> They answer right away because they have to in order to keep any customer base. That's a plus. I guess you have to do that when the software literally crashes for no reason and doesn't let you log back in and it can't do the most foundational things. They should have kept it as a desktop software.

### "Best accurate Electrical software" — 5.0/5

> **Fredy** | *16 June 2026* | Construction | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Has thousands of pre-assemblies' built. it's very accurate \! fast take of with DEP love the auto home run feature.
>
> **Cons**: Nothing big so far maybe just the singing time it takes little time to log in some times you have to click it twice in the browser in order launch the program
>
> Excellent customer service they are there when you need them. usually they answer at first call. no waiting for tech to call back. Like other software out there.

### "Solaris Electric" — 5.0/5

> **Joshua** | *16 June 2026* | Construction | Recommendation rating: 8.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Everything about the call was handled professionally and efficiently. They promptly followed up on the missed call from the previous day and took the time to thoroughly research the issue regarding copying the project with the parameters. The information they provided was helpful, clear, and addressed the problem effectively. I appreciated how expeditiously they handled the matter from start to finish.
>
> **Cons**: There’s not much we dislike about the McCormick estimating software. The main challenge has been the amount of time required to navigate through different areas of the program, but that seems to be more of a learning curve on our side than an issue with the software itself. Overall, the software works great and has been a valuable tool for our estimating needs.
