No regrets
Overall experiences are very satisfied with good product and friendly assisting group of people.
Pros
Semper is an easy to use excel base system that is very self-exoplanetary. The support team is very friendly and extremely patient. The system self can be adjusted to suit the company's needs to an extent. It is also very easy to correct errors. In general, both the reservation system and POS system is very user friendly.
Cons
The financial side and reports can use a bit more attention.

A fragmented system lacking user-friendly application
Frustrating at best. I have to add that we had a junior technician who constantly impressed us with her service and willingness to help us. She was a breath of fresh air and I felt that she was a gem. The system truly disappointed compared to her desire to resolve issues.
Pros
Analytics and reporting were good, although one needs proper training to make sense of the various reports.
Cons
Fragmented nature of each of the functions within the system. It never felt comfortable to use the features as they didn't seamlessly talk to each other. Training was not beneficial and on-the-job training a hard task to accomplish. We employed 365Villas and couldn't believe how fast and user-friendly it is. We were operational with 2 weeks, whereas we took 3 months to go-live with Semper.

Concerned about Cloud Based Option

It works very well for us as a reservation system and I like the reports available.

I am worried about the Cloud Based option as I have received feedback from other clients that the information does not pull through correctly from Nightsbridge.

Very friendly and helpful support staff, they solve issues quickly.

I can access Semper from the cloud and quickly generate a quote or invoice and also check availability from my laptop or smart phone
Cons
I would like Semper to have more options of linking to booking engines like booking.com & Safari. Maybe they do but I was not advised. It would be good to move everything to Semper because Nightsbridge still handles online booking.

Grown to appreciate this product over others
I started out being totally intimidated by it, but it has grown on me and now I do not want to use any other system for now.
Pros
I like all the different aspects of Semper, especially all the different reports you can generate.
Cons
Some aspects are a bit over-complicated to get a hang of if you did not receive proper training from the start, e.g. setting up rates, invoice structure, etc.

Extremely User Friendly and Great Support

I have worked with Semper at Multiple Properties around South Africa and even opted to have Semper implemented in Botswana. I would not use any other PMS in future.

In my opinion I have not yet found any fault with Semper in order to advise on any improvements required.

When you enter goods recieved - you cannot save - if there is a power cut you have to redo all your work. Yesterday my stock controller lost all his work. Not fun....
When I pull stock on hand reports to check on my staff - I always have to data sort as it does not show ie bar - housekeeping together is all over the place .

Customer services is easily reachable although I do feel like we shouldn't have to call in so many times for a variety of issues. [sensitive content hidden] is quite amazing and always helpful; her product knowledge range is great and there is no issue she has been unable to help me with. She is empathetic and resourceful. A lot of us on my property actually like speaking to her mostly.

Change one rate and all linked rates get updated based on a pre-defined rule when they are linked. all online channels can also be updated with the change. all you need to do is change the rate in one place.

My opinion
I'm very negative regarding Semper.
I find their accounting side totally unpractical and difficult for non-accounting people to use.
None of the info on reports is trustworthy or easy to categorize. Settings need to be changes again and again and again and one user's settings gets pulled over to all users.
Pros
I can log in remotely - that is the only thing remotely positive regarding Semper.
To be fair... the previous system probably also have this option and it would probably be more streamlined than Semper's but never had need to use it before we switched to Semper
Cons
Data 100% unreliable and everything needs to be double checked.
A HUGE problem if you try to pull an annual report.

All-in-all, a good functional option
My experience is limited to POS and Stock Control only. We do not use the reservation function for our Guesthouse. Overall, I am happy with the product since it largely does what we need it to do.
Pros
Fairly easy to use and well suited for smaller restaurants for both POS and Stock Control. The support I have received in the past has been exemplary and problems have always been resolved fast and satisfactorily.
Cons
It would be nice to have more buttons displayed on the home screen. Having to scroll through button lists take up unnecessary time and lead to mistakes. Out of stock items are not displayed on the "Stock on Hand "report. A zero would help to assess at a glance that a product is out of stock. Dockets and Invoices are not customizable. When using formatted dockets, column widths are too wide leaving very little space for product descriptions - this, by the way, is the only support ticket that has not been resolved. I miss the ability to be able to log into the system remotely via an app in order to perform functions that are not permitted by on-site staff. Currently I need to come into the restaurant to resolve problems when I am at the restaurant.

All our problems have been solved. [sensitive content hidden] is always a great help and always has solutions even if it takes her a few days she always gets it done.
Pros
setting up all our own rates, can see all the bookings. We can call at anytime, and someone will answer. I always just work with [sensitive content hidden]. But I prefer to work with [sensitive content hidden] as she is always so friendly and willing to help. She definitely knows what she is doing and I always feel comfortable with her. She always has solutions and helps us very well.
Cons
That the system has glitches like if I transfer stuff on the system it does not add up or subtract the items. If items are read it sometimes the system does not add it to stock on hand.I dislike it how you put people in management positions that can not do the job. Like [sensitive content hidden]. They do not know the system and always does something else than we are asking. I get very frustrated with them because they do not listen to what we want. If I call and it is 1 of them that is answering I will rather wait to speak to someone else even if it takes a day. Even on standby, you need to be profesional and [sensitive content hidden] can not be profesional.

The ideal software for my business
Pre Semper we had a number of lost bookings as well as a serious problem with double bookings. With Semper being linked directly to our multi channel manager ( MyAllocator ), this problem has totally disappeared.
The proiduct comes with 100's of reports so i can pull any stats i need for pipeline management, house maintenance etc. its all there.
Pros
its simple to use and very reliable. I run it locally as we are very rural and the internet is not always reliable. despite running locally, Semper also allows me remote access via a web browser interface so i am able to manage bookings from anywhere.
Cons
Nothing really. its not the fanciest software on the market, but it does everything i want at a very reasonable price.

Semper has made a big difference in our Company. Before we couldn't go back on daily reports or check sales reports and losses. Now we can do all of this and more.

The software is stable. Integrates well with other programs, - accounting and other booking systems. The maintenance and development is excellent on the program. The staff are friendly and willing to help and assist all the time.

The product stood out from others as it was easy to use. It incorporated tour groups and individuals that other programs could not do. A huge amount of data can be recouped through the record systems and easy to find them. Was easy to set the system up to our needs.

The customer support from Semper is fabulous and they now have specialist support members who are very knowledgeable about the product.
Pros
Semper Online is one of the easiest software packages that I have ever used and it has been extremely easy to convert from a server based system to this online one. It is extremely user-friendly and training new staff is now much easier.

There is nothing negative about Semper although it can be tricky when the internet is down - but that's not their fault!

Good but still improving
Good, but do feel we were promised features during sales meetings that either do not exist, does not work as advertised or and most importantly, is still in development and development is taking slower than we were told it would.
Pros
Fairly easy to use on a day to day basis for operations
Cons
Still needs some development on the back end with regards to rate management and visibility of rates when not in use, example: you cannot set rates to turn on and off as specific dates in the year and if rate is not available it is still visible and bookable on the system, but at a zero rate.
Reasons for Choosing Semper
It was too expensive, and had to pay for every feature. Also offered less integration to local OTA sites. Lastly it was server based and not Web-based so not great for remote use.Reasons for Switching to Semper

Semper is a great tool for hospitality
I believe that this is a great tool to reach multiple markets at once and there is still a lot to build on.
Pros
Easy and quick to use. Makes streamlining all information easy.
Always exceptional support from [SENSITIVE CONTENT]. If not for him life would have been a lot more difficult
Cons
1. I wish there was Whatsapp integration built in. This would make it so much easier to communicate directly with guests from the system. Similiar to what automated sms and emails are set up.
2. Looking to integrate Xero Accounting software but found out today that there is an expensive monthly cost to doing this.

Stock Control is accurate and profit margins are nice to see

Currenlty there is ONE colour coded for both the Guest that has (i) made partial payment; AS WELL as the Guest that has Paid in FULL. It would be nice to have the Calendar View to highlight in DIFFERENT COLOURS the two types of Guests, those who have PAID IN FULL; and those who have made Payment, but still have OUTSTANDING account prior to their arrival and check in. Because of this issue, one now has to actually click on the booking to open the reservation in order to see if there person is Paid in FULL ; or only partially paid.

Semper PMS property solutions for us
We are extremely happy with the system and the support is exceptional.
Pros
It helps us to manage our property remotely especially with the new browser version. The reporting system also helps with all aspects of the business.

Effective Guest Experience
Semper Reservations and Semper conferencing are the core software that runs our Hotel. We very reliant on it as it is user friendly, effective and affordable
Pros
The product itself is user friendly, we are able to add features to suite our needs. Payment via the online portal quick and the software updates itself automatically saving us time spent checking through our service providers (Bank). You are able to intergrate with any product with easy. For example as a hotel we intergrated with Pilot and Gaap POS systems in order to track payment and ensuring all transactions are in par with the existing features.
Cons
Some time but not often, it does not generate the information needed for example generating occupancy rate , proper employee cash ups. However semper support is effective when the need arises to attend to these matters.
