The software includes capabilities for multichannel digital recording, note-taking, and transcribing for accurate production of certified transcripts. In addition to recording multichannel audio, the program streamlines entering notes to provide important details about the session. These notes improve accuracy during transcription and can also be used to locate questions or answers during court hearings or depositions for performing readbacks. When courts or administrative hearings do not require a court reporter to attend the session, Court Recorder can be used to capture a recording of the proceeding for review and transcription at a later time. The software makes this easy with a non-technical user interface that provides visual and audio confirmation that the recording is functioning properly. Annotation of the recording can be accomplished using any of three methods: typing notes into the recording, entering notes using several predefined text Markers, and selecting case information from a Docket listing. The SoniClear Transcriber Player software bundled with Court Recorder includes features for transcribing manually. The playback location and speed can be easily controlled while typing. The VoiceBoost feature amplifies and filters the audio for greater clarity. A USB foot pedal can also be used to control playback like a cassette transcription machine. For automated transcription, the integrated SoniClear Cloud transcription service converts the recorded audio into written text. The transcription process uses the latest artificial intelligence technology to generate draft transcripts with a high level of accuracy. The resulting text is stored in the recording file on the computer, where it can be viewed in sync with the playback of the audio. The notes can be exported to word processing programs. The program interfaces with SpeedType where you can build a dictionary to speed up editing. They are working on a translation program to convert the audio file to text. The support people are very knowledgeable. Open to feedback and adding features that are requested. > > **Cons**: It was originally developed for the court systems and the company has been slow to incorporate features that would be helpful to the civil market. In the past couple of years they have been working on that. The translation program is somewhat unreliable. If you transcribe your work, it's faster to type it out than to edit from a translated file. It can sometimes take some time (hours not days) to get a call back from support. > > I have been using it for more than 15 years. I think I was one of the first customers that used it in the civil market. They have always responded to my suggestions and have worked on adapting it outside of the court system. It has been reliable over all the years.
