### "my personal view on LucidLink" — 4.0/5

> **ben-r** | *18 December 2024* | Animation | Recommendation rating: 8.0/10
>
> **Pros**: working as a team within the same structure.
>
> **Cons**: the "poor connection" from time to time.
>
> in my opinion LucidLink is very stable. At the same time it is very easy to use.

### "First week on LucidLink" — 5.0/5

> **Brent** | *16 October 2024* | Civil Engineering | Recommendation rating: 9.0/10
>
> **Pros**: How fast it is working on any file in any location you have internet
>
> **Cons**: There are some files that can't file lock due to the program itself not providing file locking but because of this it's causing issues.
>
> Excellent, I was surprised how well our go live went, just had some folder permissions issues but support helped us figure it out and we haven't had too many complaints about speed.

### "Excellent concept, impractical in real-world performance, misleading marketing" — 3.0/5

> **Trevor** | *29 February 2024* | Media Production | Recommendation rating: 2.0/10
>
> **Pros**: I love the idea of having a single source of truth for a "cloud NAS" that is easily accessible to anyone with an internet connection. The user management and product setup are very clean and well done.
>
> **Cons**: Marketing "without ever downloading" is completely misleading and false - data has to upload and download to be viewed and "streaming" is not practical in many workflows. When working with professional media files (RAW, R3D, ARRI, etc) that are very large (80 - 400 GB per file), it's very convenient to have the files in one place, but they will need to get downloaded at some point. The "streaming" functionality of lucidlink does not perform well working with high resolution/data rate files even in a 1 Gb - 10 Gb synchronous fiber internet connection, not to mention a typical consumer internet connection. It is what it is. Proxy workflows and strategic pinning of data is the solution but can require large local storage to accommodate working with single files over 250 GB each. Pricing is prohibitive vs. alternative workflows.
>
> I want to love and use Lucidlink but continue to run into the same issues whenever I try it out (again and again). I appreciate the concept and hope to see things continue to improve. Great product, but not compatible with our needs and use cases. Same goes for competitive products like Suite Storage.

### "Has made it easier to sync files and share them with customers." — 4.0/5

> **Marek** | *13 May 2025* | Computer Software | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: It took too long to access and share massive files; there were regular issues with downloads and synchronizations; our design files are typically big and spread out across multiple servers; and there were continual problems with file synchronization and sharing with external clients and collaborators. With LucidLink, we can keep working as a local unit while still using our regular apps and processes. The opportunity to collaborate in real-time has increased both our productivity and creativity. It has been a lifesaver for our team, particularly when dealing with large design files.
>
> **Cons**: Many clients were still concerned about the security of their cloud-based projects, even though LucidLink had strong security measures in place, such as zero-knowledge encryption. To ensure the safety of their data, we had to work closely with them to explain the security procedures that were put in place.
>
> Our efforts to improve project collaboration have shown impressive results. Fixing synchronization issues and searching for data across several servers used to take up a lot of our work. Lucidlink has made everything organized and accessible from any location. As part of our process for generating large-scale projects for important clients, we utilized it to share massive design files with our marketing team and external partners. With real-time file access and updates, the review and approval process became more easier.

### "Long time caller , first time clouder" — 5.0/5

> **Walter** | *15 April 2025* | Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Recommendation rating: 8.0/10
>
> **Pros**: I like that we can link anywhere and all our engineers work from the same drawings. Its important to our final plans that each discipline is using the same backgrounds . I like that its very much like we had our inhouse server with the different drives per year, and when we transferred over making folders with the drive names kept our hard paths in autocad generally ok even for our oldest drawings
>
> **Cons**: Not many things I really dont like. Being new to this type of cloud server, i am still learning how to best use it. I didnt do our set up . However i think i would have named our folder different , easier , its hard to reemmber our filespace name.
I am still looking for the best way to keep the file space server easier to find on my windows machine. I have it favorites and i have it again in another location within the windowsl 11 space. I am always looking for where it is , thast probalby my least favorite thing. We used to find it captured all under network, you could have short cuts to it , but under network it kept it isolated and easy to find . We kept a new drive letter per year and could map those drives with letters just like regular hard drives. That was not the best cause i have been here 25 years and we used a nas only the last ten of them. We soon ran out of drive letters to hard path everything. Its usually fast here and in autocad you download it and work on it , it only needs to upload or download during the save and opening process. Our fphoens are all foice over Ip and once ina while our internet does go down , so wehn we had it here on our server we could still draw and design just no phones . now if the internet goes down we are done working it seems until it comes back on. We still have our nas , i am not sure how that would work but if we could get a auto download of a few drives to keep us working on them when down and when it comes back up get those to upload to lucid and switch us over to working from the cloud. Cause when you got 20 engineers here working and then there is no file service its very awkward and production just stops. There maybe some work around on this but we are new to this service and maybe we are not using it optimally.
>
> I was skeptical at first , however our in house server was getting older and we do not have full time IT in house. We had already gone to higher speed router and cards in every computer and even in our qnapp nas we had a hard drive fail. So getting the It guy to come out was getting more and more as the system got olderWe also were near our total capacity with teh NAS. We would have had to buy a larger matching set of drives to refil the exisitng nas or think about a seperate nas intergrated in , Backups were getting done regulary , so that took up space . And then there needs to be more maintance to the files as we grew in people and amount of jobs we do. Bim files are huge and its hard to call how much we would need upfront, WE could vpn in , but it seemed pretty slow in comparison to lucids connections with the same internet connections. i am a old school engineer, i like to have the files in my hands just in case , its just a old way of thinking . I was the IT guy 25 years ago when we got started and like 10 years go it got to be to much for me to design engineer nad handle the upgrades and keep up with the industry bereak though and they did not pay me to do all of that . The design engineering work loads grew and i had less time, Wehn we went to utlziing a dns server and more big industry type of server ways, iu was nto trained in that . I have been on computers since 808 computer long before the internet was available to the main public , when something went wrong with the virtual server or within the system , i could figure it out but it was slow going and took more time then i wanted to spend. NOw we ge ta new person we can easily simply assign them name and password and give them rights to only certain place s, i dont have to check the vmware updates or if the server went down at night com ein to make sure it all booted correctly .+
