# Constructor Groups

> Constructor Groups is a virtual classroom for live and hybrid teaching. It is built for the session itself, so an instructor runs a class rather than a video call with slides.

In the session

Groups gives an instructor an interactive whiteboard for diagrams and worked problems, polls and quizzes to check understanding as it happens, and breakout rooms for small-group work that the instructor can monitor and drop into. A word cloud collects short written answers and shows them accumulating live, which surfaces what a room actually thinks before anyone speaks. Guestimate asks participants for a numeric answer and gives higher or lower feedback as they narrow in. Groups can also generate quiz and discussion questions from the slides already open, so a check-in does not have to be written in advance.

Before the session

Sessions are planned rather than improvised. An instructor uploads materials, lays out the activities in order, and saves the result as a session plan. That plan is reused for the next cohort instead of being rebuilt, which is the difference between running a course once and running it every term.

After the session

Participants keep the session resources, including the materials and any extra reading attached to the class. Instructors get reports on participation and engagement, per session and per participant, which is what turns a subjective sense of how a class went into something a department can review.
