Quickbooks Paytoll
Pretty good payroll processer. It has a lot of customizable options, and is fairly easy to set up and use. Some features are not the best working, and support can often be lacking.
Pros
Mostly easy to use, very customizable and has multiple options for pay types
Cons
Often base overtime pay on the prevailing wage rate instead of the regular OT rate. Sometimes can be "clunky" to enter information

Straightforward for the most part, could be simpler in some areas
Generally overall a good experience. I no longer use this because I no longer need to manage my own payroll, however because of how simple the platform was in general, and for headline figures, I would use it again.
Pros
Typically it is easier to use than other market leaders. Once you are familiar with the platform it is easy to find what you need, the inclusion of a bookmarking/favourites feature helps with this also.
Cons
On some aspects of Payroll, it seemed to over complicate the process, such as whenever you made changes to an employee, the process could be simplified to be more streamline and also less jargon and more helpful tips and text for functions relating to payroll specifically such as NI rates etc.

Longtime Quickbooks Payroll user
There is a lot of online support and documentation available. We used QuickBooks payroll for over 10 years but eventually the software glitches made us look for a new system. It works well for very small businesses with a very limited number of employees.
Pros
It was easy to track and update payroll. The automatic payroll updates with tax tables were very helpful. The liability payments and tax fililngs were very simple.
Cons
It was slow to process payroll, and it often had glitches. We had to contact Quickbooks support on a regular basis who often had us do unconventional workarounds for known system errors until they could have a software update released. We

QuickBooks Payroll Should Have Their License Revoked
We have been using QuickBooks online payroll for almost 3 years now. In July of this year, we discovered issues with accrual calculations and syncing errors. Not only has this issue not been fixed 4 months later, but we have now discovered system calculations have been incorrect for some time, shorting our employees of vacation earnings. While their engineers have been working on a fix, they managed to delete our payroll data, which they have not been able to recover. In over 20 years in the financial industry, I have never experienced or heard of anything like this. The most alarming part is that they show little concern or urgency in correcting this issue. They should not be able to sell or operate a malfunctioning financial system and deserve to have their business license revoked. Not only will we be moving to a new system asap, but we will also be reporting them to the Canadian Financial Consumer Agency. Considering QuickBooks is one of the largest accounting systems in the world, it is shocking they can operate such a flawed system. STAY AWAY!!!!
Pros
Absolutely nothing! This system and their constant updates is full or errors.
Cons
Everything! We have uncovered a disaster issue noted in detail below.

QuickBooks Payroll: Streamlining Small Business Payroll and Tax Management
My overall experience with QuickBooks Payroll has been positive. The seamless integration with QuickBooks Online, comprehensive tax compliance features, and user-friendly interface have made managing payroll and tax processes efficient. However, the additional cost for full-service payroll and the need to manually handle local tax filing could be less convenient for some users.
Pros
I found QuickBooks Payroll particularly impressive for its seamless integration with QuickBooks Online for accounting, comprehensive tax compliance features, and user-friendly interface for managing payroll and tax processes efficiently.
Cons
While QuickBooks Payroll offers comprehensive features, some users may find the additional cost for full-service payroll and the need to manually handle local tax filing to be less convenient.

The best site for payroll and tax help!
Pros
I enjoy everything about QuickBooks online payroll. It sends me reminders each week to complete payroll for the week, helps me keep track of important tax and banking information, and how much will be taken out each week/month for taxes and payroll. My employees also appreciate that they get an email sent as soon as I complete payroll with how much they will be getting paid that week.
Cons
There is not anything yet that I dislike about QuickBooks payroll! My employees and myself appreciate this site. It is laid out great and is very use to access/use.

If you want more time to do other tasks - then utilize QB Payroll!
Business owner likes the cost effectiveness and the timely manner in which payroll reporting and taxes are filed on company's behalf. Personally, as the payroll processor, it makes my task time next to nothing to process payroll for the staff. The staff is gracious for the ease of their direct deposits as well as their own portal to retrieve their paystubs and payroll information.
Pros
Ease and flow of understanding. I personally have done payroll for more than 25 years, but even someone who has no payroll experience can be a payroll wizard with Quickbooks payroll processing!
Cons
That previous employers didn't utilize it. It can assist the payroll administrator position and hold hands beautifully.

Quickbooks Payroll is great!!
My overall experience with QuickBooks Payroll is good. I like the reports they offer with the payroll and even printing checks is easy. They also have a time tracking feature which could make it easier to track hours.
Pros
What I like most about Quickbooks Payroll is that it is easy to setup employees and their Tax Withholdings. I also like the reports on qb payroll versus other payroll platforms. It also has the ability to pay federal, state, and local taxes. I also like being able to have the support team to chat with if there are ever any issues.
Cons
What I like least about quickbooks payroll is when you need to have two checks for one employee in the same period you have to run the payroll and then you can run another afterwards to do an extra check for the employee.

Very cheap and user friendly
Incredibly easy to use and run. But once you have an issue it may be impossible to fix.
Pros
The price. I had an issue with QB payroll and considered other options. Most were 10x more expensive.
Cons
The help desk. Any time I have an issue and contact the help desk, it takes over an hour of them "researching" before the answer is usually, "we can't do that." or "that's just how it works." I once had a major issue that required a special department, but every time I called in and asked for that department, I was forced to explain my entire situation and wait an hour for that person to try to fix it, even though I knew they couldn't, before the person would escalate.

AVOID at all costs
I had an issue arise in May of 2024. I promptly contacted support and was told it would be fixed. It was not. The problem remained through September of 2024, despite over a dozen conversation I had with their support team. I ultimately canceled my subscription and hired a local payroll company instead.
Pros
QuickBooks Payroll was fine until I needed support. At that point, it was cumbersome and frustrating to deal with agent after agent over multiple tickets and months to address the issue, which was never ultimately resolved.
Cons
Their support is completely lacking. If you need any level of professional service, work with a payroll company directly. I literally spend hours of my time talking and chatting with their support to address what they described as a "software issue" with my account.

Avoid Quickbooks Online Payroll at all costs
Quickbooks does not thoroughly and correctly handle the taxes that they claim to support. On top of that, competitors like ADP DO handle this correctly AND go the extra mile to properly manage other garnishments and withholdings that QBO won't touch. QBO is only marginally cheaper than competitors and only if you are getting substantial discounts.
Pros
Quickbooks payroll has good time tracking and job costing functions. Those functions are not worth the issues you will have with a lack of support and incorrect tax filings.
Cons
The tax filings are incorrect and incomplete and it is like pulling teeth trying to get Quickbooks to even acknowledge issues, much less fix them. After migrating, we suddenly found ourselves spending more energy trying to run down and fix quickbooks errors than we were spending doing it all ourselves. To this day, Quickbooks refusing to acknowledge that our local taxes are required to be filed more frequently than annually, despite many letters from our local assessment agency indicating that we have missed filings and clearly laying out when filings are due.

Best Payroll Utility
My overall experience with QuickBooks Payroll has been positive. The software simplifies the complexities of payroll management and provides a comprehensive solution that minimizes errors and ensures compliance with tax regulations. The automation has improved the workflow, allowing me to focus on other business priorities. While there are areas for improvement, especially regarding cost and occasional service delays, it remains a reliable tool for payroll management.
Pros
QuickBooks Payroll is user-friendly and seamlessly integrates with QuickBooks accounting software, which makes managing payroll, taxes, and employee benefits much easier. The automated calculations and tax filing features are reliable and save a lot of time. The support for direct deposits is also a great advantage, making the payment process efficient for both employers and employees.
Cons
The cost can be a bit high for smaller businesses, especially if they need additional features or multi-state payroll support. Occasional updates or changes in tax regulations may require some manual adjustments, and the customer service response time can sometimes be slower than expected.
