> Purple Hammer is desktop takeoff \& estimating software for construction estimators and QS teams tired of running every job through three tools: a PDF viewer, a takeoff app and Excel. One native app covers the whole loop, from opening the set to a priced estimate.

The takeoff basics, done right: 
Linear, area and count takeoff, plus perimeter, volume and wall quantities. Snap to geometry, grid and raster edges, so scanned sets measure as precisely as clean ones. Per-page scale, two-point calibration, Metric \& Imperial. A full markup suite (clouds, callouts, text, stamps, signatures), and every geometric markup is a live measurement with its own worksheet row.

Performance:
Published numbers are conservative envelopes; typical runs land well inside them.
- Benchmarks on mid-market hardware hold 120 FPS pan \& zoom across multiple heavy CAD files (e.g. 1.38M vectors); the 120 Hz display refresh is the cap, not the engine.
- A 500-sheet set opens in about a second, and a 100,000-drawing project stays as fast as a small one.
- The spreadsheet kernel holds 10M+ formula steps per second; normal workloads solve in tens of milliseconds.
- Revision auto-align typically lands well under a second; we publish \~2 seconds to cover alignments that require second tier algorithms.

Takeoff \& estimating in one app: 
Around 50 core Excel functions plus estimating-native Power Syntax: cost lookups by key from your own rate tables, project-wide totals in one cell, scoped sums like "just the concrete" or "just floor 3". Any sheet works as a database: rates, assemblies, crews, waste factors. The job total moves the instant a measurement drops. When Excel is needed, .xlsx export rewrites the formulas so the workbook keeps calculating.

Drawing comparisons: 
Drop a revised set on the old one: auto-align lands both sheets, blink compare makes every change pop, and multi-candidate alignment handles unevenly shifted drawings. The previous takeoff carries forward; you re-measure only the delta and the estimate updates itself.

Advanced capabilities:
Magic Measure: click inside an area, it floods to the boundary, and openings drop out automatically. Magic Count: capture one example symbol and it finds and counts every match.

Doc control: 
Point it at the folders you already use. New PDFs arrive tracked by content through renames, moves and revisions; every version keeps its own takeoff. No managed sets, no slip-sheeting.

Data security:
