> WordByWord helps language learners improve their vocabulary while working with real-world content instead of relying only on preselected lessons. Users can open a website, YouTube video or PDF and identify unfamiliar words directly within the material they are reading or watching.

The platform compares content with each user’s personal vocabulary and calculates a comprehension score. This allows learners to estimate whether an article, document or video is suitable for their current level before spending time on it. WordByWord also identifies frequently occurring unfamiliar words, helping users prioritize the vocabulary that may have the greatest impact on understanding.

With the Chrome extension, users can translate words in one click, save them to personal collections and update their learning status without leaving the page. Spotlight Mode visually distinguishes new, learning and known vocabulary, making it easier to focus on words that still require attention.

For YouTube, WordByWord supports interactive subtitles, word translation, subtitle-based navigation and comprehension scoring. For PDFs, learners can translate vocabulary inside local or online documents and review their coverage as they progress through the file.

Saved vocabulary can be practiced using flashcards, spaced repetition and multiple training modes. Users can organize words into collections, track their learning progress and import or export vocabulary in Anki, CSV and PDF formats.

WordByWord supports more than 50 languages and is designed for learners who want to build vocabulary through articles, videos, books, textbooks, research papers and other content they already use.
