# BucketBooks

Canonical: https://www.softwareadvice.ie/software/561556/BucketBooks

> BucketBooks is bookkeeping software built for Amazon and Walmart sellers, and only for them.

A marketplace payout is a single number with gross sales, marketplace fees, refunds, reimbursements and reserves buried inside it. Most bookkeeping tools record that number as revenue. That one shortcut is wrong on nearly every line a tax form asks about: it understates gross receipts, hides deductible fees entirely, and leaves an owner filing from figures that do not match what they actually sold.

BucketBooks starts from the settlement report instead. You import your Amazon or Walmart settlement file, and BucketBooks breaks each payout back into its component parts, then matches it against the bank deposit it actually landed in, including payouts split across several deposits. When the payout and the deposit tie out, you know the books are right. Not close, not estimated. Reconciled. Bank connections are read-only through Plaid, so BucketBooks can see transactions and can never move money.

Categorization is rules first and AI second. Deterministic rules run top to bottom on every new transaction, and a reviewed recategorization can be turned into a durable rule so the same decision is never made twice. AI assistance suggests labels and explains its reasoning, but it never touches a number: every figure in your books is computed in code. You also get a seller-shaped chart of accounts with nested sub-categories, an editable rules list, and plain-language questions answered against your own books with the underlying transactions cited.

The output is organized the way a tax form is organized. Sole proprietors get Schedule C. The Business plan adds Form 1120-S, Form 1120, Form 1065 and owner's-basis Form 7203 reporting. At tax time you hand your accountant numbers that already sit on the lines they file from, rather than a general ledger someone has to re-sort into marketplace categories first, which is where most of the billable hours and most of the errors come from.

Moving in is straightforward. You can import existing books from QuickBooks or CSV, map the columns, review the staged result, and commit it once it reconciles against your source.

BucketBooks also replaces a two-tool setup. The common approach is a general ledger like QuickBooks or Xero plus a settlement connector like A2X or Link My Books sitting on top, which lands around $97 to $127 a month combined and still leaves you assembling tax figures by hand. BucketBooks is one tool at roughly a third of that, and Walmart is included at the same price rather than sold as a separate add-on, which matters if you run both marketplaces.

What BucketBooks does not do is worth stating plainly. It is not tax software: it organizes your books for filing, but it does not compute what you owe and it does not file. Marketplace data is imported from settlement report files today; one-click direct marketplace feeds are on the roadmap and not live yet. There is no payroll, invoicing or inventory management.

BucketBooks is built by a seller who runs his own Amazon and Walmart stores and files from these same reports. Your books stay yours: one-click export to SQLite and CSV is included on every plan and keeps working after you cancel. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial at full Business-level access, with no credit card required.
