# SoloDesks

Canonical: https://www.softwareadvice.ie/software/561737/SoloDesks

> SoloDesks is quoting, invoicing and job scheduling for solo tradespeople: plumbers, electricians, painters and decorators, landscapers, handymen, cleaners, carpenters and tilers. It is built for one person working alone, not for a firm with staff to manage.

Almost every other job-management app is built for a company with an office. It has seats, crew scheduling, dispatch boards and approval steps, and it charges per user for all of it. If you are on your own, you are paying for an office you do not have and clicking through screens that assume somebody else does the admin. SoloDesks starts from the opposite assumption: there is exactly one of you, you are holding a phone, and you are standing in someone's kitchen.

Quote from the doorstep. Build an itemised quote on your phone while you are still in the job, and send it as a professional PDF carrying your own logo. Your client opens a private link on their phone and taps Accept. You see the status change straight away. The quote that used to wait for Sunday evening at the kitchen table goes out from the van.

No retyping. An accepted quote becomes an invoice in one tap: same lines, same prices, same client, same VAT. Nothing is rekeyed, so nothing gets mistyped. A job you finished with no quote behind it can be invoiced straight from the calendar, so the work you squeezed in on Thursday does not quietly go unbilled.

Overdue Autopilot chases for you. Late payment is the actual problem for a sole trader, not the paperwork. When an invoice goes quiet, SoloDesks emails your client a friendly nudge at 7 days, a firmer one at 14, and a final notice at 21. All of it goes out under your business name, replies come to you, and it stops the second you mark the invoice paid. Mute any invoice you would rather handle yourself. Quotes get the same treatment: one that goes quiet is followed up on day 6 and day 13, which is usually the difference between a job won and a job never mentioned again.

The rest of the week, too. Every job sits on a calendar with the client's address on it. Plan a day's route so you are not crossing town twice. Get reminded before your Gas Safe registration, insurance or MOT runs out, while there is still time to book it. Attach before-and-after photos to an invoice so the customer can see exactly what they paid for, and mark a job as due again so the annual service comes back to you instead of to whoever is cheapest next year.

Something to send people to. Every account gets a public trade profile: what you do, where you work, your credentials, a gallery of finished work, and verified reviews from customers you have actually invoiced. It has a Request a quote form on it, so a shared link turns into a lead rather than a dead end.

Built around UK rules rather than translated into them. Prices in pounds. VAT and CIS handled properly. Nine free tools on the website work with no account at all, seven of them calculators: day rate, tax set-aside, VAT, CIS deduction, late payment interest, deposits, and markup versus margin. There is also a browser invoice generator and a payment-reminder writer. Every tax figure they use is sourced and dated. It is sold and usable anywhere, but it was built for a UK sole trader first.

It runs in any phone browser and installs to your home screen like a normal app, so there is nothing to download.

What it deliberately is not: there is no crew management, no time tracking, no GPS, no stock control, and it is not an accounting package. Those exist because a firm needs them. You do not.

The free plan covers 10 quotes, 10 invoices and 10 emailed PDFs a month, plus 3 client accept-links and unlimited clients and jobs, and needs no card. Pro is £12 a month, flat, for unlimited everything, Overdue Autopilot, pay-now links, your own branding and no SoloDesks name on your paperwork. For comparison, Tradify lists at £34 per user, per month (July 2026).

## About the vendor

- **Company**: SoloDesks

## Commercial Context

- **Starting Price**: £0.00
- **Pricing model**: Flat Rate (Free version available)
- **Pricing Details**: Freemium. There is a free plan you can stay on forever, and one paid plan above it. Nothing is priced per seat, because the product is built for a business of one.

Free, £0 a month. 10 quotes, 10 invoices and 10 emailed PDFs a month, plus 3 one-tap client accept-links, and unlimited clients and jobs. No card to sign up, and it is a free plan rather than a trial that runs out. The monthly counters reset on the 1st, and nothing you have made is ever deleted for reaching one.

Pro, £12 a month. Every one of those allowances becomes unlimited: quotes, invoices, emailed PDFs, accept-links. On top of that you get Overdue Autopilot, which chases an unpaid invoice for you at 7, 14 and 21 days under your own business name and stops the moment you mark it paid, plus Pay-now links on invoices, your own logo and premium styles on every PDF, and no SoloDesks branding on the paperwork your customer sees.

That is the whole price list. No per-user pricing, no setup fee, no annual contract, no tier above Pro to get upsold into. For comparison, Tradify, the app a UK sole trader is most likely to have been quoted, lists at £34 per user, per month (July 2026).

What Pro has to earn. One £500 invoice that gets paid because something kept chasing it covers roughly 42 months of Pro. That is the arithmetic the price is set against.

Billing. Monthly, in pounds, cancel anytime from inside the app. Cancelling leaves Pro running until the end of the period you have already paid for, then drops you to the free plan. Full refund on your first Pro payment if you ask within 14 days, no reason needed. Downgrading never deletes anything: your quotes, invoices, clients and jobs stay exactly where they are, you simply go back to the free monthly allowances.

Free either way. Nine tools on the website work with no account and no payment at all: seven calculators (day rate, tax set-aside, VAT, CIS deduction, late payment interest, deposits, markup vs margin), a browser invoice generator, and a payment-reminder writer. Use them whether or not you ever sign up.
- **Target Audience**: 2–10
