> WIPKeep is bookkeeping software for contractors and other project based small businesses, built for the owner who never intended to learn accounting. The typical user is a remodeling, plumbing, electrical or handyman business with a crew of one to eight, where the owner or a spouse keeps the books at night and nobody on the payroll is an accountant. Transactions are entered by describing them in plain English, the way they would be texted. WIPKeep drafts a balanced double entry record, restates it in plain English so a wrong word is caught by a person rather than a machine, and posts nothing to the ledger until the user approves it. There is no chart of accounts to configure; it builds itself from what gets entered. Job costing is part of the ledger rather than a paid module, so costs attach to a job as they are entered, a job's work in progress can be reviewed account by account before it closes, and closing a finished job happens on one screen that captures sale price, how it was paid, the customer, and any closing costs. Validation runs before anything saves: entries that do not balance are refused, inventory cannot be sold below what is on hand, invalid reversals are blocked, and a closed year cannot be posted into. Possible duplicate payments and unusually large amounts raise a warning for the user to judge. Reporting covers profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow over any date range the user selects, filterable by job, customer or vendor, and delivered as Excel and PDF downloads. Also included are inventory at weighted average cost, straight line depreciation, budgets tracked against actual, recurring bills that are generated for approval rather than posted automatically, receipt upload, a vendor summary that consolidates payees by tax identification number for 1099 preparation, and an exportable audit trail that records the sentence entered alongside the resulting record. Support is direct: every message reaches the person who builds the product, and new users can book a free screen share in which one of their own finished jobs is set up with them. WIPKeep is deliberate about its boundaries. There are no bank feed connections, no payroll, no invoice creation or sending, no tax filing, and one login per account. It is intended to work alongside an accountant rather than replace one, keeping day to day books clean and exportable for whoever prepares the return.
