> Boxy is an AI coding assistant designed for individual developers, small teams of up to 20 collaborators, and enterprise users working within the CodeSandbox cloud development environment. It targets software and web developers across all experience levels, including those in open source and developer education.

The software is cloud-based, accessed through a browser-based editor or a CodeSandbox VS Code extension, with no local installation required.

Core features include context-aware AI chat, code generation with clickable file paths for inserting code directly into projects, and code refactoring triggered from the app preview without manually locating files. Boxy also reviews and annotates code, flags bugs, and offers security suggestions. It automatically generates commit titles and descriptions from branch changes, and pre-fills pull request titles and descriptions when a PR is opened. Private code is never used to train generative models. Users control AI access through opt-in permissions.
