# Handled Locator

> Handled Locator is branded store locator software for retailers, brands, dealers, stockists, franchises and service networks. It is an embedded widget rather than a hosted microsite: one script tag renders a searchable map and result list inside a page you already own, styled to match the site around it.

Who it fits
Multi-location businesses running anywhere from five to several thousand locations, and brands that sell through other people's shops and need a where-to-buy page. It suits teams who want the locator to look like part of their website rather than a third-party widget bolted on.

Getting locations in
Import from CSV with address geocoding and de-duplication, or connect Google Sheets and keep them in sync, with creates, updates, conflicts and missing rows previewed before the first apply. Rows that cannot be placed come back with a reason instead of being silently dropped. A location can be a street address, a service area defined by a coverage radius drawn on the map, or an online stockist with no geography at all. Export back to CSV at any time.

Set it up by chatting
Handled Locator runs an MCP server, the open standard that lets an AI assistant operate a product with your permission. Connect it to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor and you can paste a list of addresses to have them geocoded and added, tag locations, add branded call-to-action buttons, restyle the widget, change visitor-facing wording and get your embed code, all by describing what you want. Every configuration change is proposed with an exact before and after and only goes live once you approve it, which the server enforces rather than leaving to the assistant. Every version is kept and rollback is one instruction. Included on every plan, including the trial.

Design control
85+ working settings across search, results, filters, opening hours, maps, markers, layout, links and data formatting. Every visitor-facing string is editable, seven list, grid and map layouts are available, markers can be pins, dots, logos or uploaded artwork, and your own CSS is supported when the settings run out. The widget renders in a shadow root so it cannot collide with your stylesheet and your stylesheet cannot break it. There is no Handled branding on any plan.

Map costs
You connect your own Mapbox or Google Maps browser key. That provider meters and bills your map traffic directly at its own rates, and Handled adds no markup. It is one extra setup step, and it means the cost that scales with your traffic is not resold to you inside a subscription tier.

Installation
Shopify, WordPress, Squarespace, Webflow and Wix each have a step-by-step guide, and any page where you can paste HTML works identically. The widget is under 95 KB gzipped including search, filters and results, and is verified on Chromium, Firefox and WebKit against the deployed build. Settings changes take effect without touching the snippet again.

For developers
A REST Location API to create, read, update and archive locations, a Query API for building a custom front end, account-scoped keys that can be issued read-only, and documented browser events for analytics. API keys are a Pro and Business capability.

What it does not do
It does not generate a separate indexable landing page per location, so if a page per location is the point of the purchase this is the wrong tool. It runs no managed CRM or ERP synchronization, and an account serves one locator rather than several.
