# ALightVPN

Canonical: https://www.softwareadvice.ie/software/772646/ALightVPN

> ALightVPN is a cloud-based VPN service designed for individuals, remote workers, developers, and small businesses in privacy-sensitive fields such as healthcare, finance, and government. It focuses on secure connectivity rather than streaming or entertainment use cases.

The service uses NIST-standardized post-quantum cryptography (FIPS 203, ML-KEM-768) to protect internet traffic against both current and future threats, including quantum computer attacks. It runs on OpenVPN 2.7 with TLS 1.3 and supports AES-256 and ChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption on the data channel. Short session-key lifetimes (around 1,800 seconds) limit how much data is exposed if a key is ever compromised.

VPN profiles are delivered over a post-quantum channel and removed after each session, reducing long-term exposure. A no-logs architecture keeps user activity private. The service also protects connections on public Wi-Fi networks.

A Windows desktop app is available, with Linux and macOS command-line support in progress. Android users can connect using StrongSwan for post-quantum configuration. Pricing starts at $2.79 per month. ALightVPN is currently in Beta. Support options are not explicitly listed by the vendor.
