> Marking a class set of essays well takes hours, and consistent written feedback is hard to keep up. Workpaddle is built to help secondary teachers with both, without taking the judgement out of their hands.

Teachers add the mark scheme their department already uses and share a single link with the class. Students submit their essays using only their first name. They don’t need accounts or passwords.

Workpaddle marks each essay against that mark scheme. Every score is backed by a direct quote from the student’s writing, so the reasoning behind each mark is visible and easy to check. Students receive concise feedback covering what went well and one specific next step, and they can resubmit to show they’ve acted on it.

Marks the system is less sure of are shown as a likely range and flagged for review. Teachers can edit any mark or comment, and nothing is released to students until the teacher publishes it.

Workpaddle supports English, History and other essay-based subjects at GCSE, A level and the European Baccalaureate. It’s used by classroom teachers and heads of department.
