> Astara gives small and mid-sized manufacturers a reliable record of what their production lines did each shift: how much was made, how long each machine ran, when it stopped and why. It works with the PLC-controlled equipment already on the floor.&#10;&#10;How it works&#10;A compact Astara Edge gateway is installed at the site and connects to each machine's PLC over OPC UA. It reads machine state, product code, production totals and fault codes. The connection is read-only, so Astara never writes to or controls the machine. If the internet connection drops, the gateway keeps collecting and stores the data locally, then delivers it securely when the connection returns. One gateway can serve several machines.&#10;&#10;What your team sees&#10;- Overview: each machine's live state and connection, production count for the period, current production rate, run time since the last fault and a comparison with the previous period.&#10;- Performance: a weekly production report by day and product, with shift start and end times and run, idle, manual and fault durations, plus a timeline showing when each fault happened.&#10;- Trends: availability, time under alarm, lost time by machine and recurring alarms ranked by count, duration and linked stops.&#10;- Planning: daily production targets per machine and product, with attainment against actual output.&#10;&#10;Understanding downtime&#10;Astara matches PLC fault codes to each machine's own alarm list, so stops arrive with a description attached. Supervisors can assign or correct the reason and add a comment, and the system shows how much fault time is still unexplained.&#10;&#10;Measuring improvement&#10;Record a milestone when a machine is installed, commissioned or modified, and Astara compares output, fault time and plan attainment before and after it. The same comparison is shown for every machine at the site, which helps separate the effect of the change from site-wide trends. Results can be exported to CSV.&#10;&#10;Access and roles&#10;Each organisation's data is kept separate. People are invited by an administrator and given a viewer, planner, supervisor or administrator role.&#10;&#10;Astara is designed and built in Australia by Centreline Technologies, with a focus on food and packaging manufacturers. Most customers start with one machine and add more over time.
