> Qalami is a web application that marks handwritten student writing for schools, in English and Arabic. A teacher uploads a class's work, Qalami reads the handwriting, marks each paper against the school's own rubric and drafts feedback, and the teacher reviews every paper before any mark counts.&#10;&#10;Uploading work&#10;Teachers can upload phone photos, scans, PDFs or typed Word files, or bring files in from Google Drive or OneDrive. Pages are matched to students using printed cover sheets with QR codes or file names, and multi-page work is grouped per student. Students can also upload their own work through a class link or QR code.&#10;&#10;Rubrics&#10;A rubric can be uploaded as a Word file, PDF or photo, chosen from a template, or drafted from the assignment task, and edited later. Each assignment can set marking strictness, a grade scale and anonymous marking.&#10;&#10;Marking and review&#10;Each paper receives a draft mark for every rubric criterion, a quote from the student's writing supporting each score, and written feedback. Qalami only reports errors it is certain of: anything a misreading of the handwriting could explain is not presented to the student as their mistake. The teacher accepts or changes each mark and approves the paper; nothing is final until they do. Large batches can be marked overnight, with results ready the next morning.&#10;&#10;Arabic and English&#10;Qalami reads and marks Arabic handwriting as well as English. The full interface, exported PDFs and family reports are available in both languages, with a right-to-left layout in Arabic.&#10;&#10;Reports&#10;- Class report with the spread of marks and the criteria to reteach&#10;- Individual student reports and progress over time&#10;- PDF exports, parent-evening sheets, portfolios and end-of-term comment drafts&#10;- Gradebook export to Excel, CSV and PowerSchool&#10;- Family report links, which can be shared by WhatsApp, plus reflection slips and practice lists for students&#10;&#10;Checks&#10;Copied work is flagged between papers in the same assignment, and missing and late work are listed.&#10;&#10;Departments and schools&#10;Department and school plans add a shared rubric library and comment bank, moderation samples, blind second marking, an exemplar bank, private student notes and a support log, terms and year-end archiving, usage reports, and a page limit per teacher set by the school admin. Class lists can be imported from a spreadsheet or Google Classroom.&#10;&#10;Data and privacy&#10;Scans are deleted 90 days after a paper is approved and marks after three years.
