I’ve been using Point of Rental Software since 2013 and I have absolutely using the software. The support staff is always there to help if you need them. I also really like the her help feature that allows you to read up on how to use the software.

Overall a GREAT PICK!
Overall, a great experience. Truly, highly recommend POR. Their team is knowledgeable, seasoned, and intentional.
Pros
It's very comprehensive. The Elite system has a wide range of functionality and customization to fit your use case. The team is diligent about asking about your business, how it operates, and how its current processes so that they can fit POR to match your specific needs. They walk you through different processes and show you how to use the software for your needs, as opposed to just a general overview of how to do something, they customize all aspects to your company. Very personable onboarding and team. They are thorough and helpful and overall easy to work with.
Cons
Most notably, the cost. However, it is a very valuable investment. You get A LOT in the software, and it's not doubt worth the expense. There is a lot to learn, so be prepared for it to take some time to get used to, and to train others to use the system.

I won't tell you anything I haven't already told them...
Great time savings found through implementing Webpay & ESign. I would 100% recommend both.
Pros
Most of it works most of the time. There are many features which we'd like to use in a slightly different way but are frequently told that it can't do that. We've found a lot of value in paying to customize reports to meet our specific needs.
Cons
Getting anyone from support on the phone that can actually solve a problem is frustratingly tedious; they're all very nice, just not all helpful in a real way. Once you connect with someone who can solve an issue, they rock. We aren't impressed every time a human hears a suggestion/feedback and tells us to go add it to the peer voting system, generally that's why I'm communicating my needs/desires, not to go do it again or elsewhere. The sales team dropped so many balls on our account in the last year that I had to demand a new sales rep, who, due to all factors, delivered the information I was requesting a full three months later, eight months after I originally requested it.

We're also adding training for our first responders so they can address more issues immediately, preventing the need to wait for an expert; expertise takes time to develop, however.

Great software with lots of innvovation but lacks some customization and support
POR is the main component in our business and without it we cannot conduct our operations. We have been with the system for over 20 years, seen lots of innovative features, and every version keeps getting better and better. Need more support on their staff and implementations are not smooth but its a great product.

Integrations, ease of use, many features, constantly evolving
Cons
Support is not good. Long hold times, inconsistent training on support, after hours support almost non-existent for a 24 hour business. Many times front line support is unaware of features and fixes and it is tough to speak to an experienced support person. Takes too long to get through, get calls back, and get support in the event of a catastrophic failure.

Overall a good product but better customer support / liaison could be given
Once the install was completed, the product is user friendly and easy to use. Any issues directed to the helpdesk are usually solved in a timely manner
Pros
Took a while to get the installation process done, but now we have been using Syrinx for 2 years without any major issues. Driver app and scheduler are great.
Cons
Stock checks, both sales stock and fleet on mobile device would be very useful.When we signed up we were promised an account manager who would be in contact with us throughout our time with POR, we do not know who our account manager is and they have not made contact in just over 2 years.

POR is much easier to use than Party Track!
We have had some glitches lately that have impacted our business - mostly from credit card issues. Most of the issues prior to that have been easy to fix and your representatives are always pleasant.
Pros
I love that it is an easy system to use. I have used Party Track before and I love POR way more!
Cons
I wish the sorting was easier to use so that items that go together always show up on the contract without having to physically sort each contract. I also wish some of the reports were easier to figure out. I hate the updates all the time since we have had to physically do them. However, we are moving to the cloud in July, so I'm excited for that to happen!

After the learning curve it has been very positive with increased inventory and asset control as well as a much greater ability for a wider range of reports.

The software offers a much greater control over our equipment assets and out construction supply inventory.

POR - The Ease of Accounting
I've been using POR for 6+ years and learn to enjoy the ease of it the more I use it. I can't wait until we install the new program and get to use it.

Just when you think you know it all you find another way of processing something or there's another way to find the information you need.
Cons
Adjusting an invoice. The customer gets confused when they see a "C" invoice they assume it's a credit when it is an addition to the invoice.

Point of Rental
We wanted to use point of rental as our first rental management software. The first couple meetings were great and it seemed like a no brainer to go with them. After we paid and had our implementation team import all of our data, it was then up to us to figure it out. I felt like there was no support on using the software in our day to day business.
Pros
The user interface operated very smooth, and was overall a quick product.
Cons
Their customer service aspect. It was impossible to get ahold of anyone, and issues usually took 1-2 weeks to get resolved.

It Does What It Is Supposed To But Has Glitches
Overall the system is great but would love to have the connection issues stop.
Pros
We previously used a server based POR Software and they began phasing out support for the product and talked us into moving to the Cloud Based Product. The new dashboard features are nice and we were already familiar with the basic functions of the program.
Cons
The issues I have come across in the cloud based program are losing connection on occasion throughout the day. Exporting reports from the system into an excel or crystal file can be tricky. Customer Support set up a folder for me to seamlessly export reports to and I keep having to call back because the pathway to that folder will be lost.

I like how POR is set up for everyday use. Especially for searching either equipment or customers.
Pros
The search feature for both looking up Customers and Equipment.They are both easy to find what you are looking for.
Cons
My biggest concern personally with POR is that I don't like how reports are exported into Xcel. They don't transfer smoothly, there is too much excess that is not needed and it takes too long to remove it for the reports to be efficient.

So much potential
Inventory management and billing are the most integral part of our Rental process. POR continues to be our choice for rental management software because of this.
Pros
Inventory management is a very big part of our POR experience. POR has a great inventory interface. Accurate billing.
Cons
POR appears to be working on an improved customer service experience. If they keep at it the service experience should improve. For now I would say the service side is lacking urgency / quick communication when issues are reported.

Great customer service for myself when I have issues. I have had to call a couple of times.It was some on my end that I did not input properly.

Great Software for Rental Companies
Great software with the best dispatch module by far for any party rental.
Pros
The dispatch module is by far the best I have seen. There is no doubt that POR has the edge on this part above every competitor. This feature alone can save your company a lot of money.
Cons
I feel the customer service has been affected the more and more companies that obtain POR.

Great software, even better support
Overall, we enjoy using POR. We have moved to POR six years ago and we wouldn't go anywhere else if we had to make the decision again.
Pros
This is the gold standard of rental software.
Their support is legendary.
They have many years of experience in the industry.
Most of their staff come from the rental industry
Their software is very feature rich (more than anything else I've ever seen.
They have a wonderful system to manage availability of rental items
They are very responsive to requested features from their users.
New features are being added to allow customers pay and ask for quotes online.
Data can be pulled into other software for analysis and reporting.
Cons
Their support quality has suffered as they have grown very quickly in the past few years.
It is legacy software which makes it a bit less user friendly and difficult to learn.
It is required to be run on a Remote Desktop server. So, the full functionality is not available easily on mobile devices.

Total Rip
None! Considering we never received a work program. We chose to go with POR because of the reviews and features it had to offer. We went with top tier to run everything from inventory tracking to delivery scheduling etc. However, after paying thousands of dollars for them to import all our data and give us training to run the software, we never received a working program after 8 months of going back and forth. They kept delaying and delaying. After hundreds of man hours that we spent with them, we just gave up and just asked if they can just let us log in and we would just enter our own data in. Even then, they didn't give us access or anything to work with. We are now currently dealing with lawyers to resolve this.

Don't do it or get a visual ahead of time
Negative, lots of pain points, limitations, and workarounds to get it setup for us

We were excited to get a rental software to help make things easy. Some of the items promised in sales presentation, didn't happen and lots of workarounds.

Best rental software out there
We have been using POR since 1998. Earl came out to set us up and we knew then that this was the best decision for our company. They always make you feel like you are part of their large family. I have had things come up (not necessarily with the software) and would call the support line for help and they are on it. If they don't have an immediate answer, you can know they are working on it immediately to help solve your problem. Great company to work with.
Pros
My first pro is the STAFF - always helpful and never make you feel like you are asking a dumb questions. Second, I love how that the software is user friendly. Third, the software has so much to offer. So whether you are a big firm or a very small firm like myself this software is a must.
Cons
I wish they were a little closer so I could go to conferences and training that they hold. Not that this is there fault - but it is the only Con I can come up with.

Equipment Service Manager USER
Once i finally understood the methods of POR and really learned how to use it, i found that POR is actually quite helpful. i no longer need pen and paper and use my cell phone for notes. POR has made my life easy at work. and when i have a little trouble with the system and or have questions, then the calling POR help desk has never let me down.
Pros
1. easy way to view equipment from multiple stores all at once2. easy way to track hard down equipment by setting up priorities3. PO/invoice management is a breeze4. mobile workforce is an absolute game changer in our industry. we are able to capture more income from customers using this feature to our advantage.5. the separation of hard down equipment vs just simple check in equipment is excellent.
Cons
1. dispatching and routing needs a major update. if you are needing a easy way to automatically add or building a recurring route for the day and or week then this feature is NOT for you. 2. adding items into a multi-store POR system and itemizing by part numbers is a chore.

Best customer service help!!
Point of Rental system offers so many strategic factors. The more you learn the program the better to help strategize the growth of your business. To be able to view by category our largest rental items, items worth replacing or let ones go. To monitor day to day the sales, the losses, the client’s comments has helped us know the direction we want to grow our business.

We are so grateful for the help being just a phone call away when we come across an unusual situation with our rental order or we make a mistake and they spend the time to fix it for us. Best customer service help desk I’ve ever experienced!
Cons
It takes a while to understand and learn all the layers but with patience and help desk it can be learned.

Simple to use, but requires learning, buggy and prone to crashing
Without the system, management of transactions and reservations would be difficult. Despite some notable quality dips, it is baseline functional.
Pros
Fairly easy to use. Solid organization.
Cons
Will frequently crash. Looking up maintenance can also bug out and show an empty log that will not go away until entire window is closed. UI and UX requires a lot of back and forth between pages to accomplish fairly simple tasks such as finding invoices/barcodes. Invoices are not in an obvious spot in between the log and notes. Learning curve is made higher due to back-and-forth menuing that is not obvious at first for newer users and employees. Prone to crashes during contract sign-up when taking too long. Photos don't show up at first in several menus (prepare item for send-out) and don't show until after item is sent out for received.

Point of Rental - the biggest gamechanger in our companies history!
We used to use several different, non-integrated, software products to get our quoting, bookings and invoicing done. Switching to POR where all the features we needed were integrated improved our office and shop efficiency to an extent that we didn't foresee.
Pros
The ability to program and manage dynamic packages for our tent inventory was huge for us! The support we've received over the decade of being with POR has been excellent overall. Investing in this software really was a turning point in our companies growth and is something I wished we had done sooner.
Cons
We do not appreciate the current subscription model of the software. When we initially joined we were able to purchase our user licenses or modules, now for additional users or modules we are leased them.

Positive experience using the software and simplifies the accounting/bookkeeping process

Equipment management which includes all the associated consumables.
Cons
when adding new equipment to an open contract the software does not autofill the associated equipment for the new item e.g. A new hire contract for tower scaffolding will autofill the associated components but if an additional tower is added the software does not autofill the components required.There is no feature to invoice cash customers monthly for equipment on hire.

Point of Rental Essentials is essential to our business
Implementing Point of Rental Essentials years ago as our rental software transformed our business like no other software or system. It is a critical part of our business operations and will be for the foreseeable future.
Pros
Being able to quickly create quotes in Essentials, adding the items and services the customer requests, and moving that contract through the reservation, order, and receiving stages, is critical to our business.Creating kits of items like tents, audio-visual gear for specific types of jobs, and items that must go together, like an oven and a propane tank, is efficient and effective.
Cons
There are limitations in the payment processing and connecting that to our accounting that make it necessary for us to use work-arounds.Creating and working with customers who all work for the same company also doesn't work very effectively, making it so we go ahead and create many customers for the same company and just try to remember to make all the settings the same.

Not a good choice if you customers pay 30-60 days
Pros
Ease of use once you get used to operating the system make a rental happen in moments. The tracking of the hours in and out is also nice.
Cons
This is one of my only complaints with POR. Currently you are unable to send customers monthly statements for all past due invoices. Once you have selected the invoice for monthly statement you are no longer allowed to add it to next month's statement if the bill has still not been paid. This is a huge accounting nightmare that quite honestly is ridiculous it was not a standard feature when the program was built. I've got great news for you - As of the last release of Essentials: "We now have a setting that gives you the ability to not only bill for contracts that have never had statements run on them, but also for the old ones that customers haven't paid yet. And just as cool, it shows the previous statement for each of those "rebilled" contracts."
So hopefully you can now scrap Excel from this process. Check your release notes for more information. =)

Excellent - Once You Learn It
Been using the software for 10 years now, wouldn't want to try anything else. For an intermediate-advanced computer user, the software is amazing. For most beginners, it is a struggle to learn and maintain.
Pros
We are able to run 80% of our business completely using POR, however the 20% that we want to include and/or improve upon is difficult to figure out, as it is very difficult to find articles/help tasks to self teach, and the support team of POR is so busy it takes a long time to get answers from them!
Cons
Very few training features - we have to incorporate internal company knowledge and printouts for all new hires, which is very time consuming. Very few important suggestions of UInnovate seem to happen, other than being noted as considered for future implementation.

Top level support!
We needed to create an integration with POR that allowed us to provide data via the AEMP specification. We were able to do so in a few days; largely due to the high level of support we received from them. They were very engaged with us at every step and answered all our questions promptly. We now have multiple happy customers and are looking forward to adding more. Thank you POR Support!

Pros
It contains a broad spectrum of Rental Management Reports, and functional reservation methodologies.
Cons
The only short comings I experienced with the software is that the excel downloads were not written to properly align column rentals. We need to provide critical reports annually to our accounting firm and a lot of time is wasted cleaning up aliging column headings.We use the Item Categories for Marketing purposes.Item types need to be expanded to make integration to sales tax software easier.Make an item type for Externally Purchased ServicesMake an item type for Freight it distorts Sales Values .Your item type breakouts feed the Standard POR Sales Tax Report.We customized a Sales tax report to put |DEL keyed items into separate columns, but an item type breakout would better integrate Freight for State Sales Tax Matrixes.You should implement the Rental Bookings report I mapped out for POR 11 years ago. We have been using it and I speced it completely for ypu.

Good software, still buggy
The software has benefited our company greatly. I have no experience with other rental programs so I do not have a reference, but I have been satisfied with POR.
Pros
I like the ability to find items that are not always easily found. I like that there are multiple ways to do things so there is a lot of flexibility.
Cons
There are some big bugs that affect business. Credit card processing, which may not be POR's fault gets messed up constantly which doesn't allow to close for end of day. The support team is always hard to connect to. They are usually very helpful when you do finally connect, but connecting is the challenge. There are several bugs that don't let the correct buttons show up. There are more steps on Elite than on Expert to do the same things. It constantly disconnects from something and has to reconnect. Screens will bounce back and forth from foreground to background. There are plenty more things wrong I cannot think of.

Point of Rental for the Equipment Rental Industry
Overall, our experience has been very positive. We have had our own growing pains as a company, and POR has stuck with us through it all, adapting our software modules as our own needs have changed. While there are a few things we would like to see function differently/better, overall, it is a great software program at a great value and they truly understand the equipment rental industry.
Pros
LOVE that the program is Windows based and overall easy to use. Many features have been updated and added and the ongoing updates following customer input and feedback are extremely helpful. Being able to utilize the program in a "training mode" is also key when bringing on new personnel.
Cons
Point of Rental has experienced tremendous growth in the last few years. When we first acquired the software, calling in for support was no issue, and a person always answered the phone. Now, calling in for support takes you to a switchboard and you often have to leave a message and wait for a reply, and due to the growth, it sometimes takes lengthy time to get the right support person to help resolve your issue.

Overall, this is a good program, easy to use, easy to learn and quite accurate where accuracy is needed.
Pros
I like the ease of use. Easy to train people to use. Really like the support when it's needed.
Cons
In inventory and some other features, it would be nice to be able to customize the screens a bit more for managability.

6 Months on the Job
POR can be very slow and tedious to work with at times, and down right aggravating when File Maintenance decides to stop working in the middle of doing inventory with it. It's not hard to use but there are a lot of areas where steps could be cut down. We currently don't have cloud but are looking into using it, hopefully some of this is fixed with that upgrade to the system. I do know that there are several benefits to making that change that will make inventory much quicker.
Pros
"Items for Vendor" is very helpful once we understood properly how the function works with the min/max order in File Maintenance. The system is fairly simple once you understand how certain features are supposed to function.
Cons
A big part of my job is managing inventory and it is very easy for inventory to be off when it becomes a 4-5 step process to pull items from stock on contracts after receiving from a PO. It would be nice if there were a feature to pull directly after receiving instead of having to open a contract and manually pull items. Its a simple step but can be easily missed when there are a lot of parts coming in for several different contracts.

Great Operating System
Pros
The many features of POR keep everything at your fingertips which is very useful in a busy rental equipment company.
Cons
I wish there was a class specifically for building reports. I have yet to figure out how to do this. I have been to two of the yearly conventions in hopes of this.

Great Program
Overall I like using POR daily. From rentals to purchse orders and account management, all of it is easy to use.
Pros
Ease of use is amazing. I've been in the rental industry for 19 years and have used multiple rental programs and Point of Rental is by far the most efficient and easiest to use.
Cons
I would like an option for equipment to go into a "hold" stage after it is returned instead of goig straight to green for available. This would help with reservations and fleet management.

Point of Rental - the future of hire software
It has been great, it has really allowed us to track all of our equipment and ensure we are billing our customers correctly, whilst managing a P&L & customer pipeline.
Pros
Very easy to use, and if there are any problems, the customer support team are always on hand to assist.
Cons
Would be good if this was a cloud based system.

Long time user
Just dealing with the software that I own, it's great. I've used the software for 25 years so I know how to use it. Only time I need to call support is usually over credit card problems which they must deal with. If I was a user who needed support, it would be a hassle.
Pros
Ease of use. Once you learn how the software works, it's easy to teach others.
Cons
The customer support over the years has took a downward spiral. Only a few years ago, your call was answered and dealt with immediately, now your issued a ticket and most of the time called back, sometimes days after your call. Took over 2 months to get a price on an upgrade that's a ridiculous price.

It is easy to use, and easy to train new personnel on. Once you have the basics of the program down, it pretty easy to dive deeper into the programming and start retrieving all the benefits of POR.
Cons
Personally, the mundane stuff like changing passwords every three months. I understand why but annoying.

Pros
Our last system was so old it was dying on us. Point of Rental made it easy for us to move from our old system to the new one. One of the most outstanding things about Point of Rental is the website. We have our rental website up within our store website. Also we really like the feature of being able to import images of the equipment before the contract goes out and importing the images when the equipment is brought back before the contract is closed. The help desk for this software has been overall been great.
Cons
In the beginning I had to watch a lot of tutorials on my own in order to figure out just exactly how to use it. Also I thought the integration with Paladin was going to be something completely different than how it is now.

The ease of the ability to edit and change item details, customer details, orders, etc.
Cons
When the credit batch does not match at end of day and some of the accounting options. Sometimes it gets stuck on a customer when the ID matches another user in the system. How it doesnt always recognize an existing customer when we import an online quote.
