I definitely recommend SpotOn
Great reps, someone’s always nearby to help, very versatile. Overall I’ve enjoyed it and it works well with our restaurant amenities - happy hour, private parties, etc.
Pros
Very user friendly for staff. Pretty user friendly for back of house. Tech support and (especially [sensitive content hidden]) are very responsive and helpful.
I also appreciate how everything is intertwined if you go with the whole package - POS, Reserve, & Teamwork.
Cons
Had black out issues and the entire POS deleted itself before dinner service one day, but it was back up and running pretty quickly.
I also wish there was a way to add more than one button at a time to the menu screens list at the bottom of each screen. Very time consuming to set up, but once it’s done it’s done.

Want to make your job harder? Choose Spoton.
Bad. Just very bad. Had issues with the hardware from day one. Hardware locking up, freezing and impacting work shifts and service. Software is worse. Truthfully, I don't think you could actually set out to build a system this bad on purpose. The East European code slingers that maintain Spoton have built a runaway software "system" that makes a restaurant's job harder - not easier.
Pros
To be honest, after using it, we found nothing to be as we had expected. Moving from Toast, we sought a more modern architecture and better support, but found neither.
Cons
The architecture of this software is a mess. Half a dozen sub-domained web apps masquerading as one system. Managing your restaurant requires logins across multiple apps with functions spread out illogically across them, too. Terrible. Had us pining for Toast within days (altho Toast too is long in the tooth from a software perspective). Support is as inefficient as the system design. You call or email and when you speak with someone, it's not to solve your problem but is instead to set up an appointment for someone to diagnose your issue. If you need urgent help, forget it. As with using the system, everything takes longer than it should. This is a cash grab for the company; sign up as many as possible, sell.

Interested in SpotOn? MoveOn
I am extremely disappointed with SpotOn’s services and lack of professionalism. We entered into an agreement with SpotOn under the promise of a comprehensive food truck setup and a system that would function without internet connectivity. Unfortunately, none of these promises were fulfilled. The Kitchen Display System (KDS) has not been working as expected, and despite our repeated attempts to get help, we have received no resolution.
Communication with SpotOn has been abysmal. Every request for a manager’s callback has been ignored, leaving us to deal with significant operational challenges on our own. This situation has led to the loss of multiple food truck events and forced a 24-hour delay in opening our brick-and-mortar establishment due to the menu team’s failure to complete their responsibilities.
The lack of professionalism extends to the website team as well, who have consistently ignored our emails. This entire experience has been extremely frustrating and unacceptable.
Given these ongoing issues, we are now seeking a full refund for the services and equipment provided, along with the termination of our contract. I urge SpotOn to address this matter immediately, as our attorney is now involved and will be sending a formal letter if this is not resolved promptly.

Sales rep & installer were the only two employees from SpotOn that have attempted to rectify the ongoing issues. I’ve requested the local manager call me 5+ times now - I’ve never once heard from him.
Cons
I like nothing about SpotOn. The in-house issues it’s now causing has taken it to a new level of dissatisfaction.

SpotOn misled me while I had a decent service for a few months with what was then transparent...
SpotOn advertised to me stellar rates, low fees, and a free machine, so I signed up to process cards with my business. Everything went well for a few months until I looked at my bank statement and saw that they started charging me more for the same program. Nothing changed on my end and my revenue stayed consistent. It took me a while to get in touch with someone to discuss and eventually cancel. They did not make me pay any penalties but nobody could provide me a valid reason as to why I had to pay more every single month without mention. I cancelled. Bad end experience overall.
Pros
SpotOn does provide a competitive price for CC processing and POS systems included. They advocate cash discount pricing to eliminate credit card fees. They have multiple support lines. Month to month agreement no penalties for exiting.
Cons
SpotOn increased my monthly fee rate without telling me. I had a $25/month POS system usage fee with a free Pax A920 Pro to use. Over time without mention, it went to $40 and then $50. I could not have anybody explain to me what happened. Not a fan of misleading pricing and undercuts. I cancelled.

We are part of a franchise and can not change or we would.
Pros
Very little. Their installation was problematic. It worked Ok for a week or 2 then problems occurred they would or could not fix.
Cons
They are non responsive and inflexible. Constant problems with the register and system and poor to no response time. We have had recurring problems with their system, follow their protocol to fix, get nothing fixed time and time again

Hard to learn
The sales man know nothing, does not have any knowledge about how to operate equipment, when asked just texts you to call support. Pushy sales man promises the world then does nothing, talking about us behind our backs to other restaurants, that I know the [sensitive content hidden].. my other pos company was night and day better, always answer my questions, phone calls, never pushed me aside to handle it on my own. Only have 1 tech guy to help with repairs and is never in the state, so I have to hook up and fix my new broken equipment, the list goes on and on.

A Bit of a Roller Coaster
I was really excited to get information about SpotOn, especially since I knew the sales rep personally. After many conversations, my company finally gave the green light, but that's when some of the wheels started to come off. Communication was greatly lacking about next steps and what we could expect or needed to do on our side. There wasn't a confirmation of what equipment I needed, and we weren't set up to run different revenue centers like I had requested, so we're still not up and running where we need to be. Implementation and installation team have been great, very helpful, we're just not getting the support and guidance we had expected, and feel a little left in the dark.

It's not an app in the way that Square is, and the handheld devices don't have to rely on wi-fi, it's also fairly user-friendly

Going above and beyond
It was rocky in the beginning. But now that I have met my case manager [sensitive content hidden] who knows a lot and fixed every problem that was done wrong by my area manager. The Pos is very easily understandable to use.

I am beginning to think that the spoton company is a SCAM. I did not like anything about the comapany and its device, the device was slow to process the transactions and the other half the time it did not process the transactions at all. It has been over two months since i tried cancelling my subscription it has been impossible to cancel. One thing that has been possible is taking money out my account. Every time i called some higher up suppose to call me back but never does. I am going to report this SCAMPANY to the authorities

Horrible service
Pros
That we never used it. Signed up with a nice sales rep. When the package arrived to be set up we found out he was fired. We couldn't get anyone to come and set up the machine.
Cons
They keep billing us for the service, even though we have never had it set up. We returned the processing machine and are still getting billed monthly.

Pros
I love how clean & simple this POS is. I like the layout, and the reporting aspect is great. I love the dual-pricing. I like that they offer a cellular backup incase of an internet problem. Building menu's and adding items is easy. I love all the different printer options, taxing etc. You can get pretty specific. I love the permission's based job positions.
Cons
It's not meant for pizza places. The customer info is hard, I wish the phone number name and address would automatically pop up.
I don't like when it goes down. I don't like that there's three different websites (BOH, reporting, Dashboard) and then another if you get gift cards (through ECS.)

Do not do it
I want to love spot n but I can't. I've probably work for them more than I do running my restaurant. Its so embarrassing.

The set up was easy, the system is user friendly.
Cons
If it works its great but the handhelds always have issues. I have 8 handhelds most weeks I'm down to 1-2 due to systems issues. Not taking payments. Emv issues. They take up hours of my day trying to troubleshoot and it still doesn't work. I've only been open for 5 months and I have had hundreds of tickets and calls regarding fixing the same issue. Yes they expect me to troubleshoot and fix and its only temporary. Within a few more days I have to do the same thing, spent hours on the phone for a temporary fix.

Customer support is always amazing!

He has shown great patience and is bilingual, communicating with me in my native language. An amazing individual,[sensitive content hidden] is my go-to person for any topic my boss asks me about in Spoton. We have been traveling together for a year.

I find all the tools I use to enhance my marketing campaigns to be fantastic. I begin by sending emails, and then we implement a reward program that people can enjoy through discounts. Additionally, we have tools that allow customers to make reservations online, and a waiting list (which helps a lot on busy days) . SpotOn offers numerous benefits, including integration with Doordash, Uber Eats, and other platforms for receiving online orders, e-gift cards, and much more.
Cons
I would like to implement sending text messages to customers, also another business offers an AI to answer phone calls as a filter to connect with real customers by phone when we get a call. If we implement this, we will be the first to do so.

Overall things are great. The support system is much improved than it was originally. I would still suggest that the same person working on a support ticket follow it through to the end/completion. We often have 3-4 people try to help us with issues and have to repeat the problem several times to get them up to speed. We are pleased with the improvements in reliability of the system compared to a year ago this time.

He has helped us troubleshoot and resolve some printer issues (hardware), and worked through some programming issues (software) with our integration to R365 accounting. He is always very easy to work with and quick to respond. He is willing to really dig deep and figure out our issues. We love working with him.

Early on we could tell that you were growing too fast and too big. There were lots of situations with lapse in communication and release of new features that didn't work properly. As well several times that the reporting sites when down during very busy shifts. It didn't earn a lot of trust with our teams. We really want to implement the Handheld devices for our servers and the product is completely different than the workstation. Its like teaching someone to use 2 different systems. Make them the same please. AND SOON!

The customer service has been great and the variety of features it has will be helpful as we grow.
Cons
The switch wasn't as easy as it looked but the customer service reps have been very quick to respond and help us through every issue.

We had issues with how the KDS was processing orders but it has been resolved.

BEWARE!! DO NOT USE SPOTON
Will be shopping for a new system tonight. Regret every second that I trusted Jake to set up in two locations.
Pros
Nothing. I honestly cannot say one good thing about this system.
Cons
From not allowing us to start a tab with American Express to not allowing us to re adjust a tip if it was entered incorrectly.. For the system to not have a fail safe function to not allow a 1million percent tip is absurd...

Change is hard but with Spot On it is easy
Love the adaptability and how easy it is to change. Install was a little rough due to a faulty router. But no fault of anybody.

The install was rough. No one's fault but the router/modem that they sent wouldn't work.

Just the Begining
There have been ups and downs, a few network outages and quirks that required support but overall we are getting to know the equipment and with the Help of [sensitive content hidden]
are tweaking the software and hardware to where it helps us process the customers and payments.
Pros
I like the fact that this is flexible when it comes to hardware, when you can have a multitude of registers and handheld devices.
Cons
What still needs to be expanded is the handheld device. The device will take orders but the process to create the order is a multi step process and when you are busy this increases the stress. Plus the device has a scanner but will not scan upc codes, so you can't use this to process order without manual entry and that is not efficient.

Great Customer Support
We have not had any major issues. Ease of use and building menus and making changes is a great benefit. Customer service has been great.
Pros
[sensitive content hidden] assisted us in making sure we were able to make our expo screen work to fit our needs. If he was not able to assist with features we wanted to be able to use, he researched how to make them work for us.
[sensitive content hidden] has always been a great help with questions regarding answered quickly and made sure I was passed on to the correct person, to assist us.
Cons
The order entering screen is sometimes way more steps than it seems it should be.

Customer Service
My overall experience is mixed feelings. However [sensitive content hidden] is our SpotOn Restaurant Success Manager and without him I probably would have had a coronary. He's such a wealth of knowledge and has made himself available to me through zoom calls. Again, without him I would have continuous heart palpitations.
Pros
I like the format of the spotOn screen. It's similar to using an app in many ways
Cons
It is not easily programmable without assistance. I refuse to call on the weekends. I don't know if the company outsources on the weekend, but I have never gotten an english speaking person on a Saturday.

Great service, software, and hardware for my 36 year old restaurant
10/10 and would highly recommend. [sensitive content hidden] fully explained everything from menu build out to online ordering and cash discount programs. [sensitive content hidden] was patient and thorough will the menu consultations and [sensitive content hidden] was very detailed and friendly on install day at the restaurant.
Pros
The customer service from sales, pre-install, and installation. Nice hardware also.
Cons
Nothing at the moment. Possibly make time sheets easier to navigate?

Most of my business comes through them because that’s where I direct my customers so there’s a trust there

The convenience of the system and the help creating a menu and their hands on approach to getting me set up.
Cons
I don’t like that my accounts has been charged 3 different times for amounts that should not have. They are in the process of rectifying it but it’s an inconvenience

Good system for the money
Excellent. The SpotOn team has been nothing short of helpful in getting us up and running.
Pros
- Sales and Install team were extremely helpful
- Onsite training was very well done
Cons
There is still some confusion about reporting/deposits when compared to Square, which is the system I was previously using. Also could use some additional features when it comes to invoicing.

Spot on replaces Emagine POS
1-10, id say 2
Pros
I think Spot on, since taking over Emagine POS, has gone down hill, You never know who you will be getting support from. The reporting does not seem accurate. Not happy with it at all. Would definately be looking in to another POS system if my father wasnt so dedicated to [sensitive content hidden] and [sensitive content hidden] who sold to Spot on (I think thats what happend). Sent us a computer that was "New" but was linked up with another company, so def not new. Trying to hook up a register drawer to our take out computer....yeah that doesnt work. Networks are all screwed up. Not easy to set up anything. Just simply not happy. Was better off with Emagine. But event with them towards the end. Would have looked into another POS system. Maybe you should send people out on the field to help people, that may not be computer literate, to get through issues. just saying.... not everyone knows a lot about setting up computers, etc. Send techs out to help, would make a big difference. Spot on, absolutely do not reccommend for small business owners. but yes, maybe you are good for the Lincoln Finaical Center in Philadelphia.
Cons
You could improve by sending out people to help small business owners understand the step up and features you offer, you pretty much make us figure things out on our own.... adding a new printer or register, good luck. Our takeout register wont hook up with spot on and open, like our bar register. Try talking to "[sensitive content hidden] " from where ever the hell he is located, no answers. cant figure things out. Send out technicians or send out reps to help and not over the phone. you literally get nowhere and throw in the towel and half ass work with what you can use.

We had a great experience with Spoton. [sensitive content hidden] our technician who stayed with us for 3 days was very helpful and patient with us.
Pros
The POS system was very easy to learn. Took me about 2 days to get it. Easy to and faster to close at night. Less paperwork to put away at night. My employees love it.
Cons
letters need to be bigger and bold on the receipt. Also, our delivery services like Doordash, Uber, Postmate, and Grubhub words need to be bigger on the ticket and darker.
