No self-serve developer portal. No sandbox. No timeline given at any step. Stripe gives you keys in 30 seconds. Square gives you a sandbox in 2 minutes. SpotOn makes you email three people, wait through OOO auto-replies, and fill out an intake form just to start the approval process. If your business depends on a custom integration, budget a month of waiting. > > SpotOn is a fine POS for in-store transactions. The product works. But the developer experience is nonexistent. We are building online ordering for a coffee shop that opens this week. The POS is installed, the website is live, the API spec is written. SpotOn is the only bottleneck.
